Definitely head to CO, WA, on OR for a recon trip. I highly recommend picking up a nice convection vaporizer and some fine dried herbs, organic if possible. Grab a nice hybridized (sativa/indica hybrid) strain that is high in CBD (10%+) along with a lower THC content, perhaps like 10% or less. I really like the strain Maui Bubble Gift as it's relatively high CBD which is great for inflammation and moderate THC for the pain relief.

Guys who are suggesting "vaporizer", I was under the impression that a vaporizer is for liquid substances. So, you can't just stuff weed into one, you'd be needing hash oil.

There are vaporizers where you do stuff weed in them. The weed needs to be ground up pretty well to really work optimally.

Get CBD strains of MMJ or CBD edibles. Minimal buzz.

I am on the more tolerant side because its like anything else.

A lot of people use it but it makes them anti-social shut-ins. These people often have nothing going in their lives....

Then theres the other side which is the people who are light to habitual smokers whose other habits are decent (gym, family/friends, work a good job). I call this group "the proffesionals". Generally higher income, entrepeneurial and established people.

It just amplifies certain traits in people. Not for everybody but its not my business one way or another.

I see it no differently than drinking, but I am in one of the most liberal states (California) regarding personal usage.

Marijuana makes you stupid:
https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=rcz9...cy&f=false

"Tests indicate quite clearly that the person processes information more slowly after chronic use, even if the person becomes drug free."

That brainwave frequency that slows with chronic weed use is the same one that slows in dementia and age-related cognitive decline. Huge red flag.

Of course smart guys that smoke exist... there are smart guys that drink heavily too. They'd be smarter and healthier if they didn't though.

Why not use healthy stuff to reduce inflammation that also improves brain function. Curcumin, cold showers, cryotherapy, fish oil, cutting sugar/wheat/dairy.

Thanks for the heads-up. I may have to look at getting one.

A datasheet on Vaping would be well received here too.

They do make MJ salves at legal mj dispensaries which you simply smear on the effected areas. It sometimes give you a slight headache, but the numbing effect last for like 4 hours. Its pretty cheap though.

You might want to invest in a personal trainer to see why you keep getting injuries though.

Thanks for all the info, lots of good advice here.

The very first thing you might consider doing is laying off (or giving up) whatever is causing the injuries in the first place, be it boxing or any extreme sport you are into. Proper weightlifting, with barbells and dumbbells using strict form, will not cause tendonitis or any other problems.

Late 20s.

Giving up my sports is not an option. It is what I love to do. Injuries are common in combat sports, but you just got to manage it the best you can.

Do you really want to start fucking around with this stuff, in the hope that it might ease your symptoms somewhat?

Appreciate your concern but I have no intention to use this habitually. I'm going to try it and see how it works. If it's good, I will continue to use it, only in times of injury recovery, the same way I use NSAIDs. It will never be a daily habit, and I'm not even convinced it will work. I just never rule anything out until I have tried it myself.

I never rule anything out, but medical use of marijuana is much, much higher on my list than anything of that sort.

I've regularly done this in the past. But is this is any more/less effective than strapping on an ice pack? I have mixed results with it.

I'd guess they are much safer pain killers than Ibuprofen or the hard shit doctors give you. I don't like feeling high so if I ever get injured, I'll probably go this route instead of killing my liver with OTC stuff.

This sounds appealing to me. I dislike being high, so something that gives the benefit of the plant without the mind-altering aspect would be ideal. I'm interested in the option of vaping CBD oil and minimal THC intake. How much should I be spending on a vaporizer? And what distinguishes a good model from bad?

Not a bad idea. I did have a PT a few years ago but ditched him after I felt I'd learned enough...could be time for a refresher course.

There's cannabis topical ointments out there that contain CBD and not THC so you won't get high by rubbing them onto your body to relieve pain. My dad has been using one on his chest and neck areas after under going radiation therapy for lung cancer and its helping him quite a bit.

God damned them all, I was told we'd cruise the seas for American gold, we'd fire no guns-shed no tears, now I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier, the last of Barrett's privateers!

RE: Marijuana for treating inflammation and fitness injuries?
Bump for anyone with knowledge on CBD oil for chronic pain. Had a rare illness hit me from nowhere this year - a rare type of rheumatoid arthritis that likely started due to food poisoning. Was in hospital for 2 weeks in July and have been in a bad way since then.

The disease caused very severe inflammation (synovitis) in my wrists, hands and fingers that the shitty doctors here, even after spending/wasting a few grand privately, were unable to control. I was eventually put onto the right meds to lower my immune system and that has now stopped the inflammation but all this has taken its toll on my hands - leaving them in constant pain + unable to use my hands - opening jars, putting on socks, driving etc. is extremely painful or at times impossible. Nevermind the gym... not been in 6 months now when I'd been going seriously for all my adult life and was finally in very good shape. Also been unable to work with my hands which is something I'd just started doing full time. My social life has gone to almost nothing too.

All pretty depressing stuff, anyway I'm not giving up and am doing physio everyday, there's possibility of surgery to remove the thickened fluid/damaged tissue in my hands and I'm taking all the recommended food and supplements to repair/assist joints (bone broth, high quality fish oil, glucosamine). One thing I need now though is some serious pain relief - am using naproxen and coedine at the moment but doesn't really help that much. Have been researching CBD (cannaboid) oil and want to give it a try - if anyone has tried it or knows more about it please get in touch. Currently looking at this one - https://www.cbdoilsuk.com/product/love-h...00mg-10ml/ but there's also a 40% version or much cheaper 8%. Don't care so much about the price just want something that works without overdoing it.

Hoped to be back in SA this time of the year but at the moment all my great plans are on hold til I can sort this shit out.

Hey SanMiguel, that's a tough road you've travelled down there man, hope it turns for you soon. Try adding forum favourite ACV in with those supplements, it's known to help with arthritic conditions, some even say it helps inflammation.

The CBD you linked to were for use as a dietary supplement, for dropping under the tongue. This would work in the same way that the THC in the edibles does, the effect taking longer to 'hit' you, but when it does it lasts for longer.

I know a couple of people who use CBD oil for pain relief amongst other things, they use a small vape pen with pre-filled cartridges that are reasonably priced, no affiliation with them but they're called openvape, google/youtube them, they do 3 or 4 separate CBD cartridges with different combinations. You take a puff as and when required, effect almost immediate.

A run down of the more popular CBD oils on the market, the openvape comes in at #8, but the pen is only $20.
https://greenrushdaily.com/cbd-cartridges/

Also the topical CBD ointments scotian mentioned, they could help with the pain in your hands.

The Endo Cannabinoid System seems to be real!

RE: Marijuana for treating inflammation and fitness injuries?
You need to go to a special doctor which isn't covered by insurance and than get a green card which a few hundred per year. The weed itself it quite expensive too.

edibles are tricky to dose. I learned this the hard way. Vaping is the most efficient for pain relief and dosage. Check out the Atmos Jump pen. Its a convection based vape pen, requires you to grind up the herb. Still drys out the throat though as compared to oil based e cig style vape pens. The pen alls heats up in 30 seconds after 3 rapid clicks. The light turns form yellow to green when its ready to smoke. Than turns off quickly after another 3 clicks. I have gotten two sessions out of a pea sized amount of ground up herb.

CBD oil you can get from any vape shop without a green card. Its 100 bucks for a small bottle of 500 mg which isn't a high dosage. Need more like 1800 mg to get a decent effect. No high with it so not as good for pain reduction.

Consider an autoimmune diet as well.

Thanks for the responses, have ordered some CBD oil (1000mg strength) to try with a vape pen, will update the thread with my findings after a week or so.

Also booked an extra physio session every week, trying to keep to an autoimmune diet as much as possible and seeing another doctor privately for a second opinion.

Going to do as much as possible to get through this and back to living again.

Check out CBDdistillery.com. They have some solid tinctures that are highly concentrated and work great. Good luck.

What a load of bollocks.

Everyone wants to take an anti-inflammatory for tendonitis instead of fixing the cause.

It's inflamed cause it's damaged and needs to heal, not because cannabis is the missing ingredient to healthy tendons.

I've been dealing with a shoulder injury for a few months.

I smoke weed most days after 9pm when I'm done with all my non-creative work for the day.

The right strains (grandaddy purp at the moment) are great for the pain but I don't notice any speeding up of my recovery.

The interesting thing to me is how some people seem to derive so much benefit from being high.

I've smoked in the past and enjoyed it, but didn't feel the need to include it in my day to day life, or do it regularly.

I suppose certain people find the experience beneficial. I'm going to get crucified for saying this, but I believe that people who regularly partake in drugs or alcohol lack the ability to tolerate the reality they live in.
