Working in a call centre for mobile phone insurance. It wasn't sales, it was receiving incoming calls. Basically the company took £5 a month from people to insure their phones but either didn't pay out or gave people refurbished phones as replacements. So 8 hours a day of mostly fielding calls from irate people asking to talk to managers who didn't exist or didn't take calls if they did. It was also company policy that you couldn't hang up on people so the job was basically getting rid of people as fast as possible. No doubt many people rang back many times over the same issue.

Really soul destroying.

I worked for a comcast call center for around 7 months. I think I received from 5000 to 10000 calls. Girls would cry and quit in their first day and I was one of the veterans in that shithole. Call center jobs are the modern description on how dehumanizing a job can be.

As a computer operator. I was hired to do the web developer work but they provide only "printing and writing" work. I still don't know how I worked for 3 months there!

Concrete worker in a factory, some days is good, some is a nightmare and alot of stress. We had a really hot chick who was working with us for a few months, small and blonde with a great body, originally a welder, having a girl like that at my workplace was amazing! Unfortunately she got very sick and had to quit, damn I miss her.. Luckily Im finish working there soon.

RE: What's the worst job you've ever had?
I worked as security at a late-night, all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet in a college town.

They were offering $15/hr for someone to stand by the buffet counter and make sure random drunk people wouldn't come in and steal food. "Excuse me sir/miss, please go buy plate at the register." How hard could it be right? The hiring sign had been up in the window for the whole semester with no takers, so I figured I'd give it a go.

They didn't tell me what to wear, so I showed up at 11pm in my regular street clothes. To further confuse patrons, I was a normal sized white college kid - I'm sure they'd expect an employee of the restaurant to be FOB Chinese, like the rest of the employees. I looked like a random guy white knighting for the poor Asian lady behind the register because I had nothing better to do.

I greatly underestimated how many people would steal food, how wasted people would be, and how hostile they would get when I politely asked them to stop. Most kids would just get confused, call me a "fucking faggot" or something similar, and then do as they were told. Half of the women's basketball team came in and started ransacking the eggrolls. I asked them to please purchase a plate, and they got super aggressive and in my face like the opening sequence of a World Star video. They were all bigger than me.

At around 130am the offensive line for our D1 football team came in. The biggest motherfucker on our team, who was later drafted by the Raiders and known around campus on a first name basis, started stealing food as per usual. I approached him:

"Excuse me sir, unfortunately I need you to purchase a plate."

(He steps to me and looks down a full 10" to look me in the eyes)

"What's your name?"

"Eddie, IworkheresorryI'mjustdoingmyjob."

"I like you Eddie."

Then he proceeds to take huge handfuls of food and eat them while looking me right in the face. I walked to the counter, asked to be cashed out for the 3 hours I lasted, and walked straight to my apartment. All my far bigger friends were bouncing at the bar across the street, and watched the whole interaction take place. They really enjoyed the scene. To this day they call me General Tso.

Years later, I went back to the place during homecoming weekend and saw that the current General Tso was a jacked 6'4" local dude who carried a baton.

No particular job, just ones where you don't have control over what you do and how you do it... throw in incompetent people who are telling you when, what and how to do it, knowing that if you do things their way you'll fail and eventually take the blame and you have a bad job right there. Decent people and decent pay can make an utterly shit job ok.
