Outside of the single "I'll reveal my tax returns when you reveal you emails remark," Trump was in Hillary's frame the entire second half of the debate. Trump called her "Secretary" while she called Trump "Donald. She talked slowly and directly while Trump talked in circles quickly and defensively. When Trump tried to interrupt Hillary, she would keep on talking and ignore him.

When questioned about her emails, Hillary answered in two direct sentences, taking responsibility for her actions. Trump didn't respond or try to challenge her. When questioned about his taxes or the birther issue or his Iraq statement, Trump spent minute after minute waving his hands around angrily trying to defend himself. The moderator and Hillary seemed to take pleasure in baiting Trump about his failures so that he would emotionally try to defend himself, coming off as flustered or insecure.

The most embarassing part was when he answered the question about temperament by yelling at the moderator, while Hillary laughed smugly behind the other podium.

I agree that these were Trump's weakest moments, but his saving grace is that they're issues nobody gives a fuck about apart from political pundits. Trump's best moments, the bad experience line and grilling her on NAFTA and TPP, the line about D politicians getting black votes and going 'see you in 4 years!' cut a bit closer to more real issues Americans are facing. Clinton had no answers there.

He needs to clean up some of the rambling and erratic demeanor for sure, but as I said earlier I don't think this hurts him too much.

I distanced myself from the internet for the entirety of the debate, and I was very disappointed at first. After reading some of the posts on this thread, however, I realize that I'm simply let down because I expected Trump to completely destroy the witch and leave her on her death bed tonight. Now that I'm analyzing things from hindsight, I believe that the general audience will see that the mainstream media's image of Trump is a sham. We'll see if it plays out as such.

However, I think he dropped the ball when he went on that 'law and order' rant, it really felt like he was completely improvising at that point. Anyone agree?

However, a typical low information voter will say that despite Hillary making some good points, Trump made better ones.

His points about the US making bad deals and needing someone who understands money? Those will go a long way.

When he was scrapping with Hillary, a lot of people could see that he'd do that with our adversaries, but Hillary would apologize to our adversaries, and save her venom for her domestic opponents, like Obama has done.

Trump clearly restrained himself. You can see what he's offering as president. Hillary brought her A game, but still, you could see she only offers more of the same.

This is very important. I think we are hyper analyzing this thing in our little echo chamber here. Im texting an old HS buddy of mine who lives in PA south of Philly. I would classify him as apolitical, slightly blue pill and a "closet" Trump supporter just trying to raise his family. We don't really discuss all the minutiae with her health and scandals and all that. His thoughts:

On Hillary:

1. Appearance - Hillary appeared stuttering and tired (even took a video of his TV!)
2. Demeanor - No confidence in her answers, sounded like a lying politician
3. Policy - He actually asked me "I thought NAFTA came after trickle down economics?"

On Trump:

1. Appearance - Energetic and confident
2. Demeanor - Thrilled someone shoveled shit back at Hillary for a change
3. Policy - Smart guy thinks out of the box

So it would seem that perhaps the average Joe/Jane is positive to very positive for the results of the debate. I think in typical Trump fashion he was doing a little A/B testing while Hillary used up all her ammo in the first round. He should stay on message, keep it short and highlight details of his plans and details of her failures not get drawn into stupid arguments re: taxes and birthers.

Edit: So if you have friends like this, ask them what they think.

I like to think back to Reagan's win when I consider what Trump could have done better during this debate. Reagan played the political side by letting the opponent ramble on, let the tension build up while they began to cut their own throat, and instead of constantly defending the minutiae of every little point in this hyper-social-media atmosphere and propaganda MSM, he'd drop about 2-3 lines that just wiped the slate clean and humiliated his opponent. Short, concise, and delivered like a witty master of game.

I think this might be part of Trump's strategy however.. you don't have to go in winning each battle, you just have to sway the tides of war in the last battle, which wins it all.
You'll notice in the MSM he was getting lambasted for every little quip of seeming arrogance and disregard, then he tamed it down, put in way more road work than Hillary (the good old fashioned way any good business man knows to resort to), and now going into the debates he was polling quite well.

I anticipate a drop for 3-4 weeks, then leading up to the election he'll secure final traction to potentially, and much more likely pull off the win.

His Business lines were good. I think he could of done more to highlight how he has been a real job creator while going after HRC who has never created a job in her life.

Get into the details of payroll, insurance, taxes, etc. Things that the millions of small business owners in America know about. This IMO is his 'Trump Card' he can talk the language the middle class actually knows about.

He can segway that into how he has rewarded women, minorities, gays into high level positions in his company because as a real business person all he wants to see, is his people do well, work hard, and he will always reward them for it, because that is the American thing to do.

Segway that into how un-American things such as shoddy trade deals via corrupt politicians who will sell America to anybody with a open wallet, undermining real honest Americans hard work which undermines families who are trying to make the best for their kids and loved ones.

He can talk business al day. HRC has no reply for him on that matter and neither does the Moderator.

Trumps specifics can be nitty gritty details of bullshit Red Tape that business have to deal with. Talk about the silly costs to get Municipal Water to run your cement factory when Governments will sell that same water to whores like Coca-Cola and Pepsi for a tenth of a penny, and then they go bottle that water to sell to Americans for 1000% mark-up. That isn't real business, that isn't a real hustle, and that does not take hard work to do. Let Trump talk about bringing it back to hard work and hustle that built America into a strong and prosperous Country.

If HRC tries to attack him then he can just reply back: "If it was so easy why don't others do it? Why did't you do it? If it was so easy, then why did't you start your own business and do what I did versus using corruption and political connections to make 100s of millions for you and Bill?"

She can't say shit to that. Moderator would have to pick up the pieces of HRC's jaw from the floor.
