I'm sorry OP, but if you're seriously wondering where to stand next to your girl, you've already lost. There's a reason everyone is mocking your post.

Who gives a fuck how you ride an escalator? Put her wherever is convenient for you and go on with your day.

You should be worried about how you're going to get her out of your apartment later when you finish and want to go grab a beer with the guys, not how she stands going down moving stairs in a shopping mall.

Escalator Positioning Game.
This reminds me of something that happened a long, long time ago when I was about 18, well before I knew what game even was.

I was at the mall, had just bought some new clothes for a job interview that afternoon. As I approached the escalator I spotted a girl that I worked with (but had hardly spoken to) and her friend just ahead. She was what I think would be universally accepted as a legit 9. Thin, long blonde hair, from a good Christian family, as sweet and feminine as you can imagine, and almost certainly a virgin at the time.

I stepped onto the escalator behind them, took a few steps to get close enough for them to hear, then pretended to talk to somebody about "..those couple of hotties in front of us"
Predictably they both spun around shocked, and then she laughed, cheerfully greeted me and introduced me to her friend. She asked what I was up to, I told them about my job interview, showed them my new threads etc. At the bottom of the escalator we chatted for about 5 minutes and they wished me luck as we parted.

I had never been good with job interviews (or girls) at the time, being only 18 I was always seriously nervous, but the good vibes from that interaction - plus a tip from an inside contact that I pretty much had that job in the bag based on my application - made me walk into that office 100% confident and relaxed.
Instead of the ordeal of being grilled across a desk like I was used to, I just talked comfortably with the manager and director interviewing me. If I could approach and chat to a 9 and an 8 in a mall, a job interview was a walk in the park.

I never had any doubt that I would get the job.

I got the job.

I'm sure there's a moral about the benefits of Escalator Positioning Game in there somewhere.

I'm generally in favor of them, they certainly are better than stairs.

I thought that liking the post by Wisdom Earle stating that he walks on the escalator because it's not a ride would be my only interaction with this thread, but then I opened the Newbie Forum and came across this:

RE: Where do you stand on the escalator?
I don't think this is such a ridiculous question. Escalator position is one of those little things that don't change much but add up to your overall game. For someone who has never thought about that it may also seem ridiculous that such little things as leaning in or out, holding her hand with palm up or palm down, walking on the inner or outer side of pavement or similar things change something but we know they do.

I generally always try to stand above a girl on escalator. If it sometimes happens that she stands higher on an upwards moving one I will generally make fun about her ass perhaps give a light spank if no one is watching and we are at that stage already.

I never stand near her, because when I am alone I always walk an escalator and I hate people who block the way.

I can't believe no one caught this one.

The left side is for standing only in some portions of the Anglosphere: the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and also some parts of Japan. In the remainder of the Anglosphere (Canada and major US cities) and most other highly developed non-Anglosphere countries, the left side should be left clear for those who wish to walk on the escalator. Less civilized regions of the world (e.g., rural China and US flyover country) have not evolved to the same level of cultural sophistication, so expect people to stand on both sides without any regard for common courtesy.

In North America and most of Europe people drive on the the right side of the road. In the U.K., Australia and New Zealand they drive on the wrong side of the road...
