Im headed to Cozumel this week. Probably a 6 day trip in cozumel if not 7.

Is anyone there? Can someone recommend hotel/beach/food? Im going for some rest and relaxation, pig out, and to photograph some cool stuff. I'm into photography and i like food.

Ive done my own research on hotels from the travel sites but was hoping for some real feedback from the gang.

Have you already booked? If not, you'd better go to Playa del Carmen (30 min by ferry) instead; and from there you can go to Cozumel one day or two. Why? Cozumel is ruined beyond repair, everthing is horrendously inflated because of the cruisers. Unless you are going to do some serious professional diving those 6 days, I should recommend you not to go. Check out my datasheet about Playa.

I second about Playa. I have been to neither but a relative (as a couple) went to Playa a year ago and had nothing but good things to say about it (take it for what its worth and trust those who have been to both). I had never heard of it until they went so whatever changed about Cozumel may have been recent.

My plane is booked one way no return fight add in not sure what day im coming back and may go to miami after.
But it seems its cheaper to fly to cozumel then take the ferry to playa?
Either way I can still make it to playa my hotel is not booked yet. I usually book hotel when I arrive. ....I live on the edge sometimes

Stay in Playa near the bars/clubs and visit Cozumel. One day trip is probably enough.

Edit: this is based on my visit 5 years ago. Cozumel seemed kind of expensive but not ruined back then, not sure what it's like now, maybe not even worth a trip. I rented a motorbike and rode it around the island. Got sun burned, too, from riding it all day. Some nice beaches there, but I remember I didn't even get any drinks in beach bars because they were expensive even by US standards.

In Playa, i also found a hotel when I arrived, just walked around and chose an ok place for about 30 bucks/night at the time. I don't know what the prices are now, but make sure you are within walking distance to the main entertainment area with bars, shops and clubs. There are two bus stations there right in the center if I remember correctly. Stay somewhere in that area.

Everything is good about it except for the guys constantly trying to sell you drugs and other forms of stupidity on the part of the local people. Taxis should be avoided completely and I only take them if I'm with a girl.

Actually, I was going to post an update on my data sheet about this stuff these days.
Look. Cozumel is not worth it more than 2 days. The place is nice, and again, if you are serious about diving there's no better place to go. However, just taking a taxi to take you to the beach (10 miles) is going to cost you about MXN 400 (US$20). You can rent a scooter for 8 h for MXN 300 as an option. All inclusive hotels are popular in Cozumel for a reason; moving around is expensive as well as restaurants. Nightlife is dead, period.
I'd recommend you to land, take the ferry to Playa and stay there all the time.

The weather is affecting my plans. Rain expected for days. Not good.

But I'm all for playa on this trip if it happens. Closely monitoring weather
