It is a constant mistaken assumption that free and open source are the same. Often times Open Source Projects such as Qt you have to pay for a license. Open Source is more practical. Often times it is necessary for users, developers, and administrators to use your code and provide feedback. Paying will probably be unacceptable for most people, but I will gladly pay the $5 or so a month it will cost. Paying for companies which you politically agree with will become a lot more common I think, think Vegan/Organic but in reverse and how that Organic movement has really changed the world, for better ot worse.

I've been using it a few months now. It had its issues originally, but they've gradually been ironing problems out.

I use it because it's very fast, and the majority of sites no longer crash due to the embedded advertising.

Amongst many other sites, it's the only way I've ever been able to reliably read Breitbart without it locking up.

Destroying the clickbait model is just a bonus: if they introduce ads, they're going to be non-intrusive and not slow down loading, and those advertising dollars go to the guy fucked over by Socialists.

Brave has become my go to browser for personal surfing and information gathering when I don't want use chrome. The newest update on linux has better performance compare to earlier version. As Bosch said, Brave is getting more stable and running better as time goes by.

Brave is become one of the few independent browser on the net today. Right now, the variety of browsers not under the thumb of major corporation under SJW convergence or threat of SJW convergence has become limited. Opera just got bought over by Chinese company for 600 million, say hello to PRC look at my search results.

Bitcoin is great, and I applaud their effort to make an alternative payment platform. What we really need alongside Bitcoin is a PayPal/GoFundme/Kickstarter combo that isn't run by SJW fags. So many great ideas and websites are censored from those systems do to political correctness. What we need is a new credit card brand like a Visa or Mastercard, but run as a digital payment service, that way people have credit card protection coverage, but also not have to worry about the SJW's at PayPal/GoFundme/Kickstarter/Visa/Mastercard/American Express, etc. That would certainly be a company I would buy stock in. The payments market is just waiting for a shitlord to tie something to USD currency, as the vast majority of people aren't ready to go BitCoin just yet.

Well if you offer "free" software, you have to make a profit somehow or less you'll go out of business; this is the problem with the "free kulture" centered around piracy and the like, it's short-sighted and too centered on an entitlement mentality.

From what I can tell as others said, it's not going to force you to pay for a subscription, like Spotify you can choose to pay if you don't want ads; to me complaining about getting something completely for free just because the developers have to use ads in order to make a profit is a bit lame.

I've personally decided to decrease my dependence on Google and other major companies and use alternatives such as Dogpile search engine.

I've given up on considering Brave until it starts taking privacy seriously.

I gave them a chance to go the way of Iridium (another Chromium-based browser) and start stripping out all the phoning home to Google but it seems they're not interested in going in that direction, or at least it's not high on their priority list.

Tried it. Got pissed off and uninstalled it immediately. Tried importing the bookmarks and it stuffed them all in the toolbar, which also shows no webpage icons, and then no obvious way to delete them other than right click every single one individually and click delete. The delete key doesn't even delete a bookmark you select in the bookmark manager.

I mean how fucking basic is that? I don't care less what your political origin is, if you're making a shoddy piece of crap that fucks me around you can get lost as quick as possible thanks.

Firefox is certainly a piece of shit that pisses me off. I used it ten years ago, but now when I click on it, it takes like 20 seconds to open. And then when it does open, it always wants me to download some update. I'm a very busy man. I have youtubes and Netflix to watch. I can't wait all that time to watch some important videos.
