First post, made this acct to find some local ppl here. Looks like I missed natas.

Also in Honolulu, will be here for a while. In my personal experience, most of the posters here are right -- it's difficult here compared to most other US cities, and pretty insular. I've been going out solo and it's a different experience from what I'm used to.

If you read some of my other posts, I've drunk beers on 5 continents. I like to travel, and while I'm there, I drink beer. Wow you really do like beer. You should check out Asia sometime. Cheap and excellent beers can be found in Thailand, China, and Japan. Suits might even be able to point you in the direction of good beer in China, but he prefers craft brews. I found good beers the Chinese copied from German beers inside the small cities myself and they were the equivalent of 10 cents USD. Tasted really good too, drank a whole case in one day.

I don't care for Chinese beer. I drank it happily for my first two years in China, but it all started tasting very low quality to me. The first beer I drank was in Japan, Asahi. I still like that. German influence, but crisper. I don't like German made beer, I find it dull and simplistic, but some Japanese versions do really hit the spot.

My dislike for Chinese beer coincided with my experimentation with a wider variety of beer choices. I'd do a semester or a year in China and then move back to the US for more schooling there.

I could go to a Meijer location in Michigan and choose individual beer bottles from the massive selection available, so I tried a lot of different options.

When I was in China the first couple times I had limited experience with beer and I'd just drink what was commonly available, which at that point was Qingdao.

Qingdao comes in different varieties. It used to be that most places served a large bottle that tasted kinda skunky. Then there was a smaller bottle that was much crisper and better flavored. I still like to drink that from time to time now.

Qingdao stopped being the affordable beer of choice at some point between 2008 and 2010. They increased their pricing and tried to appeal to a higher end market. Now there are a few different contenders, with Yanjing being the strongest competitor, at least here in Beijing.

Generally now, I'll drink Belgium import beer, but in the last month, I've been living a life of reduced expenditure so that I can invest more money into developing my business, so I've been sticking to drinking Yanjing at home and it does the job. Not my preference, but for 3-4 RMB a bottle, it is a more budget friendly choice than paying 30-50 RMB for an import at the grocery store.

Thanks so much for this amazing write up. I really, really want to try Honolulu, but I was actually pretty bummed out by this thread - although I do appreciate the reality check. In my head, Honolulu seemed like a slam-dunk location for someone into asian american women.

Let me know if I got this wrong:

- Hawaii is harder to game than you think
- Locals are quite difficult
- White girls on vacation are easier
- FOB asians and Non-Hawaiian Asian-Americans are easier but still not layups

I have spent three weeks of my life on Oahu and will never return.
Go to Puerto Rico instead--same climate, same latitude, plus friendlier people and much easier to game.
But I love Latinas, so I'm biased.

@savonarola - if I'm looking to daygame asians, both FOB and asian-americans, is Oahu still doable? Did you hate it because you're not into them, or because it's hard?

I've only been to Hawaii once (well twice, but was 4 years old the first time) and was with a LTR, which is the way to go IMO. I have a number of friends who live there or previously did and they described it as an awful place to try to get laid, likewise from a tourist standpoint it seemed that the vast majority of visitors were couples or families.

That said it has a lot of things going for it, gaming just isn't really one of them. Maybe if you're a local you could try to use surfer game to pick off female tourists but I just don't know how many women travel there without a guy. I do think it's a place every American at least should see once (particularly Kauai), might as well be a different planet from the mainland, and it's a great spot to bring a LTR if you find one worth spending the time and money on, but I wouldn't go there to hunt.

Wow you guys are all insane. I lived in Hawaii for 2 years (military) and I was getting laid plenty. Plus I was also living in the nicest place on Earth while doing it. I might have to cough up a more positive data sheet for this board when I get some time.

If there's some more positive opinions on Hawaii i'd love to hear em~ like I said it's a great place to live and have fun, but frustrating if you actually want to get your dick wet. If it wasn't for courchsurfing I woulda gone insane.

sharksfan, for daygame you could do those spots or just follow wherever the events are happening. Oahu has at least evening events 5x\week so just stay in the loop and you'll be around cool people.

You may want to try daygaming at the Saturday farmers market at the KCC Community college. There were a ton of younger people, although they seemed to bus in a lot of Japanese tourists. Lots of little stands, they had some wine I think too, it was much bigger than I thought it would be.

The booze cruises that hang outside of Duke's in Waikiki are good. Usually have a group of girls that go there.

Duke's on Sunday, which used to be good, has gotten REALLY old. Maybe more in the summer or late spring but the last two times I went, it was considerably older than the crowd from 5-6 years ago.

The big club is Addiction, which is pretty weak. I liked the crowd at Rumfire a lot better.

And am I right in saying that Waikiki / UHawaii Manoa and Downtown empties out on weekends? I've had way more success during the week. Where does everyone go on the weekend? North Shore or other islands? I've been having a lot of trouble daygaming on weekends.

Can anyone recommend any good surfing for late june - early july? I'm trying to find surf camps but it seems like they're mostly active outside of summer.

Also curious to hear how you would spend 10 nights in Hawaii travelling solo? I'm not particularly focused on gaming, but more about surfing, adventures, health & wellness and having a good time.

I've already been to Oahu, Kaui, Maui, so i'd like to check out Big Island, but i have read there's not much surfing going on there. So i'm thinking 4-5 nights Big Island and maybe the rest in Oahu.

Town side is the way to go for waves that time of year. Waikiki to Hawaii Kai. All those breaks. You can see Oahu and all its health and wellness glory in about 7 days. Get a car.

Big Island you can do in three days. Its cool over there if you've got friends, other than that, you got Volcanoes NP and some beaches, but the rest is tourist traps. But really expensive ass ones.

I say stick to Oahu. You'll like it here. Any questions, ask away. I lived here my whole life.

Thanks for the suggestion. As i'm looking to celebrate my birthday which coincides before independance day; i'm thinking June 26-30 Big Island and then July 1-8 in Oahu. I would have liked to stay in a place like Haleiwa but at the time of booking I didn't realize the north shore is flat. So i'm wondering what other alternatives are like Haleiwa? I've stayed a couple nights in Waikiki and felt it was too built up or too much of a tourist trap. Looking for a cool surf town vibe to meet other travellers, locals, surfers and mingle but also nearby active waves during this time. Which area would you base yourself for a week in Oahu? Or would it be better to split it up in some areas? Any tips for independance day?
