They see a guy swinging a hatchet around a (crowded?) train car, and nobody does anything?!
He was shot, and I'm assuming he was shot after he got out off of the train because I saw a report of suspect fleeing, so the rest of the people just rode it out until the stop?

I mean for fuck's sake, it wasn't a knife, it wasn't a machete, it wasn't a sword, it was a hatchet/axe, you have to put momentum into it, shouldn't be too hard to just tackle the guy and pin him. In my heart of hearts if I imagine myself in that situation, the next scene is lunging at him to disable him, anything to neautralize that threat. If it was some other weapon, I would be apprehensive (knife, machete, sword, gun, etc.).

I know a guy who got a worse injury than an axe would deliver working in the back yard with a chain saw; walked inside after it bounced up and hit him in the face, asked hi mom for an ambulance. Today you couldn't even tell.

I'll bet we've even got a couple of members on the forum who've sustained some sort of serious workplace injury that they survived.

Hey, my buddy was an idiot for not having the correct protective gear - but my point remains. These people had a chance to be heroes, and didn't take the sort of risk that working men take every day.

Yeah I've had my mishaps with chainsaw too, after the first slip-up I invested in safety gear. I've cut through maybe 2 pairs of chaps, I try to be careful, but sometimes shit happens. Safety goggles are an absolute must, not only does it keep the sawdust out of your eyes, but when a tooth on the chain break, it's not going slow, had one embedded in my eyebrow once. Helmets too.

Take away guns and they'll use an axe, knife, truck or bomb.

Does it worry anyone else that people are becoming desensitized to these attacks? These type of events used to be so rare that they made movies out of them, but now they happen every other week and we crack jokes (which were pretty good by the way).
