Is it possible this is the reason they did this lame semi-serious attempt at a coup? To stoke him, to push things to a head more rapidly, so that he goes overboard in his behaviour and increases social backlash, so that the next attempt will have the energy to succeed?

It is possible that they had no armaments on board and they were just bluffing?

It's also possible that gravity of the situation got to the pilots and they simply froze. They might have engaged on the premise that Erdogan's pilot could be intimidated to reroute to a coup-friendly landing strip and be taken into custody. Then, when Erdo's pilot called their bluff they lost their nerve or never had weapons on board in the first place.

Why wouldn´t they have armament?

I don´t think they froze. They are militaries. They flipped. There´s no doubt in my mind partially the procoup were sabotagers. Erdogan knew about this. But still fled in case things got out of control. When he realized things were going according to plan came back. It was a big gamble.

He knew about the coup. And outplayed them. I´m not praising this islamic piece of shit. Since this whole situation is not in the west best interests.

RE: Military Coup in Turkey
The most compelling explanation that's come to my attention is that Erdogan was about to have another round or purging senior military officers. Word of this got around, and there was a hasty, poorly planned (due to the lack of time) coup by those who were on their way out one way or another. Hence the relatively limited numbers involved, and the reluctance of the troops to shoot on the civilians.

The whole thing clearly lacked, from the start, the kind of large scale military support which would have (to an extent) legitimised it and made civilians think twice about hitting tanks with sticks and generally intervening.

15,000 education employees, after how many military men, judges, etc?

That this was planned from the start is completely transparent now, if not to most Westerners then certainly to the Turkish citizens. Erdogan may have faked the coup, but there's a possibility that he could end up with a genuine civil war.

Pleasant thought for the day. Does anyone think that most left wing western political parties don't have similar lists?

RE: Military Coup in Turkey
They're getting rid of teachers, deans, support staff.
Jailing opposition, military, civilian, etc.

24,000 Teachers
1,577 Deans
8,777 Interior Ministry employees
257 Prime Minister office workers
492 Directorate of Religious Affairs staff (clerics, preachers, religious teachers)
9,000 other people have been detained(judges, prosecutors, religious figures)
85 Generals & Admirals jailed

This doesn't even begin with mention the amount of news, press, etc that have been detained or jailed.

He wants to bring back the death penalty, coming from a man who was jailed for saying this:

Quote:The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets and the faithful our soldiers...

Was BANNED from holding a political office and suddenly got into office in 2003.

This was a long time coming, his fruition's and goals have succeeded.

More and more it looks like Erdogan knew about this coup all along, gave it a little push, and then immediately shut it down.

Further proof is the lists that immediately came out and how swift he was in firings and arrest.

The military was playing checkers while Erdogan was playing chess, brilliantly and ruthlessly I might add.

This is just the beginning of his master plan - with the military neutered and the opposition jailed - he's free to do what he wants.

Erdogan is now saying the US isn't a friend unless they return Gulen. I think he will use it as a pretext to seize control of NATO based nukes.

Turkey becomes a rogue state allied with ISIS and armed with nukes. Great start to WW3.

I reckon those nukes have been secretly removed and are long gone. They'd never admit it of course because then the deterrent factor remains.

Also NATO has beefed up it's defences on other boundaries recently - may be related.

Theoretically speaking: If Turkey would seaze nukes on their own terrain but owned by the US or tried to do so, that would be seen as a severe act of war right and the US would be left no other option to attack?

In theory. But Obama is way too much of a pussy in practice.

Obama is done, it will be Trump or Clinton. The crooked one will be more aggressive towards Erdogan because the Gulenists and their neocon backers are already on board with the CGI. Trump is not that gung ho about NATO and interventionism, he will seek to stabilize the region through a big picture compromise with Putin.

The EU's luster is long gone. Look at what happened to their neighbor Greece. EU
membership has become a way for the globalists to economically rape countries
in east and south Europe.

Erdogan gets a lot of flak, but he's first and foremost a conservative nationalist.
He's done very well for his country, hence his popular support. Since he came to power
in 2002, Turkey's GDP has nearly quadrupled in little over a decade under his watch:

[Image: 1_GDP%20Per%20capita%20Nominal%20dollar_130901.jpg]

Compare to the GDP history of EU member Greece next door:

Unfortunately for their people, Greece didn't Grexit when that could have really set them
on a recovery and independence path. Left-wing pseudo-rebel Alexis Tsipras
royally screwed his people, he was a globalist mole, like most new left leaders
(not sure about Corbyn though), who gave the globalist banksters everything they wanted,
while pretending to be a national savior who was going to fight against them.

The coup has failed, but it is only the opening salvo in a long protracted battle
for the country between Erdogan, and a coalition between the NATO-backed
Turkish deep state, the Gulenist islamists who are backed by US neocons,
minorities (Kurds, Alevis) and Soros-backed secular leftists (the hipsters
who protested in Gezi Park). The alliance between the Gulenists and neocons
is at first counterintuitive, but it's the same dynamic with ISIS and McCain and co.

The coup side lost the coup, but they will win if Erdogan overreacts and goes
too far in his putschist purge, which will bring economic instability to the country
and set up another, broader military coup that might end up succeeding.
Or if the economy tanks because of the instability, Erdogan will simply
lose the next election.

The best rundown on the Turkish situation has been by Sibel Edmonds,
a Turkish-American woman/FBI whistleblower, she's been featured in
a number of James Corbett reports:

He doesn't care about meeting the EU requirements for joining.

It's a geo-political game he is playing, successfully up until now, because he has the EU in the palm of his hand.

This article has some good explanations to Erdogan's motives:

Lizard King is spot on. Erdogan knows full well that Merkel's Germany is a cucked nation. He's already thrown 10's of thousands of people in prison, fired them from their jobs or killed them by now, most likely a combination of all of the above. What's Merkel and the rest of the effete Eurocrats going to do? Hold a press conference to "urge restraint"? Please. Erdogan rightfully sees Europe as his bitch until they prove him otherwise that they have some balls. He don't give a crap about if the EU membership bid passes or not, he's already setting himself up for life-long dictatorship in his home country. The Eurocrats are cravenly stupid to think that everyone cares about their little failed project. That's what happens when you live in an echo chamber and don't listen to what people are saying on the streets.

Some more facts:

- The pilots of the plane that took down the Russian fighter over Syria have been arrested (I have mentioned before that one of the pilots was a Gulen supporter). Now, since Erdogan is sucking Putin's dick, I would not be suprised if they end up in Russia. And in Russia, people sometimes have a nasty habit of...disappearing.

- A lot of helicopters (40+) went missing, and the Navy lost contact with 14 warships. Also, they cannot reach the Admiral.

- Many Imams do not want to perform funerals to soldiers KIA.

- All private TV and radio stations have their broadcasting licences revoked indefinetly.

- 50 000 people arrested. Hello Stalin, how are you?
