RE: 12 Dallas cops shot by sniper, 5 dead, during BLM protest
I just brush over that shit, you'll always have racial purists, bi racial children who have issues, and ones that preach racial hegemony, etc.

I suppose I understand what they say, but trying to fit people into one box or the other is just foolish.

You see it all the time on alt right sites and the occasional flare up on RVF.

While race is an important fact in this thread and a few others, I don't want it defining me.

I want my current thoughts and beliefs to define me, not the color of my skin or genetic make up.

The best way to cure your racism is through education.

Thanks for co-opting far-left morality while being condescending.

Quote:The idea that some "races" are superior to others doesn't hold water when you look at global history.

Only the Left and the idiot-tier Right uses the term "superior" (not calling you either). It's a straw-man.

Quote:A Chinese could easily point to the achievements of his own people in inventions, literature, science, philosophy, and ethics.

Mexicans can show us the monuments of the Aztecs, Mayas, Toltecs, and Olmecs and talk about their achievements in astronomy and public works.

Peruvians can talk about the great achievements of the Incas and their incredible irrigation and communication systems.

The south Indian (Dravidian) could point to the temples of Madura, Trichinopoly, and Madras, and talk about those building achievements.

The Polynesians had great achievements in navigation; they were exploring the Pacific at a time when other peoples were terrified to step into a canoe.

What's your point?

Quote:Civilization has been color-blind.

No it hasn't. This is a particularly misleading comment. But I admit that it has a certain "grand speech" ring to it.

Quote:Even among "white" races there have been many different civilizations. The Semitic peoples produced Assyria, Babylonia, Phoenicia, the Hebrews, and Carthage, as well as Arabs and Islam.

Semites generally don't consider themselves White, at least on a formal political level. The peoples that you refer to were Semitic, as their artwork reveals.

Quote:On this last point, we can note that the Semitic Arabs conquered a huge tract of land from Spain to Central Asia in the Middle Ages and graced it with science and philosophy at at time when Europe was struggling politically and socially.

I'm unsure how political and social conditions make for a valid historical-value comparison with science and philosophy.

Also, surely you aren't referencing the "dark ages" fallacy and attempting to compare Arab philosophy with the breadth and depth of European philosophy.

Quote:All great civilizations were fusions of more than one "race" or ethnicity.

First, "race" and "ethnicity" are vastly different concepts and so attempting to causally associate them here is intentionally fallacious.

Second, your assertion is debatable. Historically speaking, most "Great civilizations" were relatively homogeneous. Counting the traders and servants in as significant cultural or genetic contributors is stretching the limits of logic to say the least. That's not to say that it did not exist in certain places at certain times, but to state that "all great civilizations" were truly multicultural is ridiculous on its face.

Quote:The Romans? Fusions of Etruscans (possibly Near Eastern), Celts, Teutons, and Greeks.

I'd be shocked if you could produce a convincing genetic argument for the Romans outside of a limited period, probably toward the end of the Empire. And I'd be surprised if any argument didn't overstate population numbers and integration. Also, none of these, perhaps with the exception of the probably Semitic Etruscans, were significantly different racially.

Quote:Japanese? A fusion of Chinese, Korean, Polynesian, and native Ainu peoples.

None of which are significantly different racially.

Quote:The entire history of the world is the history of population movements. Organisms are not static. They expand to fill the space available to them. As do flies, so do humans. The concept transcends race.

An absolutely ahistorical broad stroke that is a favorite of Leftists looking to backwards justify multiculturalism.

Why is Western China so relatively homogeneous (that is excluding differing East Asian Racial types) when the Dravidians are on its border extending into pre-history?

The answer is incredibly politically incorrect but it refutes your assertion. Without going to deep or getting too graphic, I'll leave it at: borders.

Quote:There were also civilizations in Africa: Ethiopians, as well as Kush, Axum, Songhai, etc. If these civilizations did not reach the levels of others it was due to the debilitating influences of geography and climate.

Yes, yes, Guns, Germs and Steel. A typical dismissal and excuse that just happens to leave the globalist political vision backwards justified. Convenient, that is.

Quote:Would a different "race" have done any better in those inhospitable regions? I doubt it.

A smart man such as yourself should know that this is a ridiculous question to ponder.

Different races evolved in different conditions and so, ipso facto, they would never have had the opportunity or desire to try in those "inhospitable conditions" (of course, this is ignoring their own inhospitable conditions in the form of ice ages, winter and everything that comes with them to include transient food supply). Why did they succeed in the ice? Though, this line of reasoning, that you are avoiding, will take the conversation into HBD terrirotory. I'm no expert and don't really need to discuss it, but I won't avoid it either and will definitely call the thread out if it is rationalizing silly assertions just to avoid the topic.

Quote:A large number of peoples and "races" in history have influenced the progress of man. This idea of race "mixing" being bad is just wrong.

These assertions are wholly to general to not be silly sounding, but I'll again grant you your success in being able to give a "grand speech" ring to your essay.

Quote:In fact, the "race mixing" that worries you so much does play a role in history. Over centuries, different stocks and ethnic groups combine into a gene pool that gets turned over and over. Over the centuries, these strains fuse together to create a new type. To this we add the influences of geography, climate, social systems, etc.

This is wholly generalized, unscientific, and silly to state. For 99% of history, this was accomplished among minimally distant tribes of the same racial type.

Quote:This was how England was created: the fusion of Angles, Jutes, Danes, Normans, Celts, and Romans (a bit) into a new man: the Englishman.

These people were all generally of the same race. You make it sound like the British are the result of a multiracial fuck party. Nothing is further from the truth. And there is no such thing as the "Englishman" other than as a cultural entity. And Britain is still not wholly mixed in regard to those minimally distant tribes that decided to live together centuries ago. And that is on a small Island. Your estimations for the USA are vastly overstated.

Quote:This new nation then acquires (or inherits) its own unique ways and character. The influence of geography, climate, society, diet, and politics further shape the formation of a new national identity.

I'm a fan of assigning value to certain identities. Identity in itself is a fairly useless concept. I don't see any value assignment here. To illustrate, evolving toward a dysfunctional culture is a politically negative evolution. Meaning, merely the formation of a new identity or nation is not a good thing in itself.

Quote:It's the civilization that makes people what they are, not their racial pedigree. If racial pedigree is a factor, it is a minor one when compared to the others I've listed.

I see a broad brush over a complex topic, that is designed to gain applause from those who get multicultural tingles.

Quote:America is still in the mixing stage of its national development. It is a young country; far younger than the civilizations and peoples of Asia, Europe, or Africa.

I don't currently see that America is working toward a final identity, and of course you mean via race-mixing. The best estimation seems to be that the USA will continue to see large influxes of disparate peoples into the distant future; as it remains the grand laboratory of globalism.

Quote:This process of racial fusion is ongoing. It's going on right now. It will not be finished for another 300 years.

Where do you get your intel that there is a "finish" point in 300 years?
Quote:When it is, we will finally be able to say that there is such a thing as American civilization.

Now you're just throwing your feces around.
Quote:The only way to overcome racial antipathies is through travel, education, and what Cicero called "greatness of spirit."
[/quote]

I am well traveled and have a high level of education. I know politics. You're worldview is naive at best, and willfully misleading at worst.

Thanks for setting me straight, Hydrogonian. Looks like you've been preparing that response for over a day.

I hope telling me off was as satisfying as you imagined it would be.

But I'll prefer to think of you as the guy who spent upwards of 20 posts defending that liar and fraud, NASA Test Pilot.

Your judgment is not exactly state-of-the-art.

Your judgment is not exactly state-of-the-art.

That post took me about ten minutes to write, and another five to edit.

Your imagined monsters are not as invested in you as you perceive them to be.

Also, you may want to widen your perspective to the fact that not all of us have time to sit and respond on the forum all-day, every-day.

Are we now rating posts, and commenting in debates, based on how self-satisfied responses likely make the posters? I didn't know.

I was working, and always work, under the assumption that its always good to call out bullshit. Self-satisfaction was secondary.

I suppose that this essential difference between you and I is why you and I disagree on NTP, and why you find it valid to respond by attacking me on another issue as a curious means of attempting to validate your argument here.

I'll prefer to think of you as the guy who enjoys grand-standing and virtue signalling.

I'm okay with our differences.

In a battle between Quintus Curtius and hydrogonian, Quintus' life experience and successful authorship wins. And it's not even close. So one of you us better off not making the discussion a contest of personalities. Stick to the topic, she remain impersonal.

I've apparently hit another forum wall wherein there exists a bizarre cult of personality, or forum values that I'm unaware of or otherwise don't care about (shutting up because of an internet personality's "authorship" and his admirer's perception of his "life experience"), that the cultists wish me to defer to in an effort to limit speech.

Unsurprisingly, it'll have the opposite effect.

I don't play the RVF role playing game. But if some guys are, and are offended at me debating a Level 9 user's opinion in your game hierarchy, then come at me as hard as you want. It's okay with me.

First of all, you aren't limiting anything.

Second, you're blinded my your Quintus fanboyism. Reread the recent posts. My first post of today was a point by point refutation of his post of a couple of days ago; completely on-topic to his post.

His followup post started in with the personality jabs. That you don't see that is why you will blow up this thread and thus why you shouldn't have interjected a single non-constructive comment.

You're already pouring gasoline on an exchange between two members when you should have stayed out of it. If you want to defer to seniority and experience according to your points system, I outrank you. Right? So, according to what logic do you feel the need to jump in and derail a one-on-one conversation, between members senior to you, and heat it up more than it is?

Or is ranking system merely self-serving?

But keep going. Let's get crazy. You seem to be dead-set on it.

I read them. I understand what is going on, but I think you have better replies in you than this.

Seeing that post just doesn't remind me of the Hydrogonian I know and love. I just looked at my OneNote to see if you were on my guys I need to rep list, and you were on there like I thought you were. I was too busy the first half of the year to really participate on the forum like I usually do and when I got back into stuff, I made a list of guys I need to recognize for their hard work and effort here.

Maybe QC was a little bit strong, but he is trying to pull the best out of you guys. He's still a lawyer and an accomplished writer, thinker, historian, etc. Not to mention, he's older than us too so he has more experience by default. Not an easy guy to debate against, but you should not let that get into your head and lose your composure like that. Things that make Lizard of Oz so awesome also make him very hard to debate against if you do not bring your A game.

Now I am even talking about reps and things of the like, just because you bothered to bring that up as if that really matters in this debate. I'm still going to rep you even though I do not agree with your points in this debate so far. I got alot of love for you as a brother, even if we will never agree on race. I still like talking about guns, trucks, women, family or other things with you or Philosophical Recovery. Just anything us conservative cats like us like to do basically.

We are a brotherhood and a team, no need to attack each other in this way. Sparring matches and practice are not for 100% full power swings. If you step back and look at what we are talking about in this thread, it really isn't that big a deal honestly. This thread is the most "on the same page" I have seen this forum, race discussion wise, in a long time.

@hydrogonian

You have added some value to people that I know personally on the forum. I truly respect that.

However, I have to call out the fact that you continue being a dick to forum members that have added a heck of a lot more than what they took from the forum. While you make some good points, they could also be made without taking respect away from those you attack. You manage to do both and have gotten away with it so far.

I saw this a mile away in your last few "rants" but there were way too many people who respect you in order for me to say anything. Now I feel like I have to.

My troll radar has always been going off but I thought you were having a bad day. You had a whole bunch of them though. Come on man. It wouldn't hurt for you to ease up a bit.

It's not so much about deferring or yielding to someone senior. It's about the rapport we develop amongst one another here. That has to count for something. If you felt like he disrespected you, you know very well that QC is very approachable and you could have even taken it offline even.

Consider me warned, and humbled, sir.

Quintus, your liege does good work.

tard

I've apparently hit another forum wall wherein there exists a bizarre cult of personality, or forum values that I'm unaware of or otherwise don't care about (shutting up because of an internet personality's "authorship" and his admirer's perception of his "life experience"), that the cultists wish me to defer to in an effort to limit speech.

Unsurprisingly, it'll have the opposite effect.

I don't play the RVF role playing game. But if some guys are, and are offended at me debating a Level 9 user's opinion in your game hierarchy, then come at me as hard as you want. It's okay with me.

Save the snark for an argument for a female. All of those lines could have been fleshed out into tangible arguments with facts to support or some other line of reasoning. Instead they were empty like a kid telling another kid that he is the poopyhead, not himself. If you do not have the time to do that, it would have been better to have posted nothing at all.

You are smarter and better than that, and you know it.

You're being willfully blind to what is going on here. Read the post progression.

I know that its sacrilege for some members to criticize Quintus, this time for his off-topic personal jabs that came first, or to criticize his support that essentially tried to defer to adulation to get me to stop talking. Give me a break.

So calling a person's argument silly without proper examples of evidence isn't the definition of a jab at QC's intelligence? Please go write something of moderate intelligence before you go on harping about somebody's lack thereof as shown in the below quote.

It's rude and demeaning to not come up with a proper response to someone like QC who provided examples and made a solid argument.

Quote:These assertions are wholly to general to not be silly sounding, but I'll again grant you your success in being able to give a "grand speech" ring to your essay.

Stuff like this sounds you're lecturing a teen with an angst problem not a seasoned writer, traveler, and sage of this forum who has given back to those in need. I honestly haven't seen you give back to any newbies or otherwise with life advice and wisdom.

This community is about give and take not condescendingly bashing someone tried and true to many whom read this forum.

Try to instill that kind of response in your posts by giving back. It's why so many readily come to QC's defense. Myself included being the recipient of his wisdom. It's most definitely not a cult of personality. It's defending a friend who has helped us in our time of need.

The main thing that BLM has done is make state sceptics [like myself, and I will wager a lot of the forum] overlook police officers' real 4th amendment violations, harassment, and lying, and become pro-cop against the race baiting terrorist group of BLM.

This is quite unfortunate, and dare I say a planned strategy in line with police federalization/ martial law.

There is nothing troll about Hydro. Not even remotely close. He just has strong feelings about certain things and maybe has alot to get off his chest. All that said, he still has to have the presence of mind to keep it all in check, just like the rest of us do. No one is so special around here that they are leaps and bounds above the others. We all have to practice our restraint in order to grow as men, here at RVF, or in the offline world.

There are times guys tell me, hey Kai look at what this crazy guy posted on the forum. I might look at it, get flustered, then shrug my shoulders and get some whiskey and get in my recliner chair. Some shit guys need to see for themselves. I won't get into long debates over every little thing I see here.

When I was growing up, we would call this being a "Show Me Nigga". Some people are conceptual learners and some are just flat out visual only. We have to learn how to be patient with one another. That is how we grow and earn respect amongst our peers as men.

I get it TravelerKai and I respect your opinion. Strong feelings are fine but high class posts peppered with shit are still shit to me. Like you said not one person here is special. Yet he is the one considering himself above respect earned by these guys by going at them in such a way. I respect his contribution but I can't stand by that.

RE: 12 Dallas cops shot by sniper, 5 dead, during BLM protest
I think we've all been guilty at one time or another of trying to "win" an argument in a thread, and in the process gotten a little more aggressive with our tone than we should have. This is especially the case with emotionally charged topics like race, religion and politics. It's an understandable human frailty, but it's not a good habit to fall into. Let's try to keep in mind the purpose of the shared dialogue on the RVF is to exchange information for our mutual betterment. If you feel that your argument is indeed superior then by all means make it - but let it stand on its own two feet. There's no need to condescend or sprinkle snide remarks in your posts.

There's really nothing to be gained by aggressive, negatively-toned posting. It certainly does nothing to bring your interlocutor closer to your position, and observers/readers are always turned off by posts that go negative. So if you're going to take the time to make thoughtful posts (which is commendable), why sabotage yourself by being overly aggressive/negative? When it comes to disagreeing on the forum, always try to be the bigger man. If the facts are on your side, then demonstrate that. But don't allow your ego to get sucked into a pissing contest. Posting on the RVF is not a competitive sport. No one is keeping track of wins and losses. We're just here to make each other better, that's it.

Quote:I read them. I understand what is going on, but I think you have better replies in you than this.

Replies to what?

Quintes's personal attack, or

MMX2010 telling me to back off because of his adulation for Quintus?

I'm never going to take either tactic well, and I responded in-kind to both replies.

I'm also noting how this is, still, a continued concerted effort to put me in my place for disagreeing with a man who has admirers here.

I'll be civil to the degree that others are not being nasty or just plain weird with me, but tactics to encourage me to be deferential to a guy with fanboys, who I don't personally hold in any higher regard, are never going to work to coral my opinion, responses, or inspire unwarranted deference.

Quote:Seeing that post just doesn't remind me of the Hydrogonian I know and love. I just looked at my OneNote to see if you were on my guys I need to rep list, and you were on there like I thought you were. I was too busy the first half of the year to really participate on the forum like I usually do and when I got back into stuff, I made a list of guys I need to recognize for their hard work and effort here.

Dude, rep me or don't. If you do, thank you. If you don't, I'm not going to lose a wink of sleep. But I definitely won't be manipulated with promises of rep points or implied threats of losing favor. Respectfully.

When I was criticizing the process of what occurred with NTP (now that Quintus has been so gracious to throw this off-topic stone) I received two different types of PMs.

One type was guys essentially taking the same tactic as you are.

"Hydro, I think a lot of you but....shut up or I won't think a lot of you and that will make me sad".

The other:

"Hydro, thanks for standing up to the forum, and keeping the forum on an even keel (calling out BS), even when it's against the grain".

I was gracious to both types of pm, and understand them both, but only the latter matters to me.

Only the latter is being true to how I feel about myself as the man that I am and the man that I want to be.

Thus, I continue to speak for the forum members who appreciate free speech on the forum, even when it is not popular. Though, the push-back in this particular instance seems to be purely personality based - which surprises me.

Quote:Maybe QC was a little bit strong, but he is trying to pull the best out of you guys.

A first, albeit small, concession. It's a shame that the overall analysis, thusfar, hasn't been more more even handed.

You called my reply "snark", but QC's first reply after my initial post of today was nothing but snark and jabs.

Where's the criticism for him? His reply was a "little strong" and I need to "save my snark for a female". Got it.

Where was he trying to "pull the best out of me", exactly, in his first response of today?

I seem to have lost that part in-between the "you took all day to respond, you must be satisfied" and the "I prefer to think of you as the guy with poor judgement" remark.

Or did I miss something in that reply?

Quote:He's still a lawyer

If you are impressed by the average lawyer, then you need to socialize with more lawyers.

Quote:and an accomplished writer,

Are you sure that you aren't overstating this? And isn't the merit of writing a matter of opinion, absent tens of thousands of book sales or an award?

Quote:thinker,

Jesus, dude.

Quote:historian

Yes, I read and responded to his historical account here.

Quote:Not to mention, he's older than us too so he has more experience by default.

So, we're now starting an age hierarchy for debates here?

Quote:Not an easy guy to debate against, but you should not let that get into your head and lose your composure like that.

As I said, your emotion has gotten the best of you. Lose my composer like what? Read my on-topic point-by-point response to his post. Now read his first post where he loses his composure. Everything else was a response to that.

My word, I feel like I'm in the twilight zone here. Someone let me out. I think that this comment has me done with this particular bizarre part of the forum's social dynamics.

Quote:Things that make Lizard of Oz so awesome also make him very hard to debate against if you do not bring your A game.

What did he say that was hard to debate? Give me an example. What did he say in response to my post that was so difficult to debate?

In fact, much of my initial response were merely mirror comments to his snark and personal attack.

This is truly a strange dynamic surrounding this forum member.

Quote:Now I am even talking about reps and things of the like, just because you bothered to bring that up as if that really matters in this debate.

You still aren't reading the post progression. MMX2010 made a reference to QC's stature. As I remarked, my reluctant use of seniority/reps was to make an ironic point about MMX2010's use of the same.

Quote:I'm still going to rep you even though I do not agree with your points in this debate so far. I got alot of love for you as a brother, even if we will never agree on race. I still like talking about guns, trucks, women, family or other things with you or Philosophical Recovery. Just anything us conservative cats like us like to do basically.

Okay. Love me for who I am or not at all.

Quote:We are a brotherhood and a team, no need to attack each other in this way. Sparring matches and practice are not for 100% full power swings. If you step back and look at what we are talking about in this thread, it really isn't that big a deal honestly. This thread is the most "on the same page" I have seen this forum, race discussion wise, in a long time.

My first post attacked no one. And I'm still defending myself against three members even though I was first attacked. It's unbalanced. Therefore, I suggest that others also be admonished to keep it from being so socially bizarre. Or not. This is just a forum. Whatevs.

If you felt like he disrespected you, you know very well that QC is very approachable and you could have even taken it offline even.

Then he should have taken it offline. My comments were not qualitatively different than his, yet the focus is one me. He posted in the thread, he gets responded to in the thread. I'm not going to save a guy a public response, being that he was pretty nasty to me in the thread.

Putting people in their place with regards to the rules is a job for the moderators.

Putting people in their place for their tone is the job of SJWs of which I hope we aren't hiring any because we have no positions available.

People put themselves in their own place based on their wording and their reasoning (or lack thereof).
