Women who get married but keep their own last name
An observation I've had lately...

Every woman I've ever met who is married and kept their own last name ends up divorcing their husband, cheating on him, or being in an "open relationship."

I've also noticed that this is the new norm with hipsters and liberals. Get married, have different last names, and maybe a boyfriend.

RE: Women who get married but keep their own last name
I view it as attempt to assert a certain independence or seeking to hold on to the last vestiges her own separate identity outside of the union. Usually stems from a non-submissive mentality.

The hyphenated last name trend. That shit is all over society. When I was still on FB and I would see it, I would silently snicker to myself and start the stopwatch to divorce proceedings.

I think it shows a lack or unwillingness to adapt or compromise. Red flags at the outset.

Red flag. Never marry or date a women (beyond plate spinning) who wouldn't take your last name.

Not going to defend the hyphenated last name crap, as it is a huge tell if the girl uses it in everyday life that she is a "Strong Independent Woman"™ with all the red flags that go along with it.

However, a lot of married women on Facebook who are hungry for as many friends as possible (read: pretty much every one of them) use the hyphenated name there so they are more readily found by people who knew them by their maiden names. If they are only use it for that purposes that is less of a red flag than when they use it in everyday life.

Just a human enjoying his "Apex-Predator Privilege" atop the food chain.

Worse in Boston are the looney lefty moonbat men that hyphenate their names with their wive's surname to thank her for agreeing to marry him as in Jackoff Wifesurname-Mangina.

RE: Women who get married but keep their own last name
This is a regional thing. For example, in Italy women keep their birth surname; that's the law. Very few women change their names. They think it's nuts to change names. All women's passports in Italy are in her birth surname. If she got married and changed her last name in another country, that is noted on another passport page. The passport always is in her birth surname.

It is not uncommon when a man and woman with the same last name are introduced in Italy, they think that they are sister and brother (before it is known that they are married), because virtually no woman changes her name to the husband's. This is also the case in many other countries. Women taking the husband's last name is more of an English and American custom.

That's because when she divorces her husband to eat, pray, love with his alimony checks she doesn't have to file any paperwork to change her name again.

Other I don't like is women who hyphenate/use both surnames: Unless you and the wife live in Spain she should be switching to your name*

Yea Hank, I've noticed this too.

I would add: because families are having less children, there are more single "strong" daughters who want to keep their family name. I kinda understand that aspect.

Other then that, every single guy that this happens too usually is the most pussy-whipped idiot in the world.

What annoys me the most is the hyphen name...why ruin your name with two names. I think its a disrespect to family tradition. And I'm not talking about like Latin America where people take 2 names. Im talking the female hyphen name like Jennifer Rodrigeuz-Fuckface

Well, then I guess we are talking specifically about women who come from the region where they take the husband's last name, and have done so for the past hundreds of years.

Every time I hear of this phenomena I wonder about what kind of absurd and frankly disgusting sexual fantasies these women have that fixate them on their own last name. Have they diddled themselves to the thought of sleeping with a family member? I'd say it's almost a guarantee.

In most cases I think the woman should change her name but not if she comes from a completely different race/culture. Seeing Asian or even Russian women running around with Western European last names is just confusing.

It almost says: "I want to get married because I want to. But I'm really not all that into you, and if this doesn't work out, I'd like for it to be painless."

Other warning sign - she does take the guy's last name, but is still on Facebook and everywhere else under either her maiden name, or her first name and middle name.

I'm not sure about that. Have you noticed how royals and high society people often have long strange surnames? That is because of hyphenation of names, for example the chief architect of the multi-culti European Union Richard von Caudenhove-Kalergi (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coudenhove-Kalergi) exactly got that name from marriage of two nobles.

Hyphenated names are more about modern individualism and narcissism, the idea of a marriage as a new union of two families, in this way you definitely merge the families into a closer union.

The relevant point about why a women has to take your last name starts at 1:03:23 for about 3 minutes. Enjoy!

RE: Women who get married but keep their own last name
We all know girls care more about GETTING married than BEING married. Weddings are the ultimate attention whoring spectacle. A girl gets to stand in front of all her family and friends and pretend to be a princess for a day. Oh, and she also gets presents.

How would you even introduce a husband and wife when she isn't willing to change her name? Typically, the first dance as a married couple is considered to be a significant event. How significant could it be if you're introduced as husband and wife -- but with the same names you had before spending thousands of dollars on a bullshit ceremony?

We already live in an age where you aren't likely to be the first man to fuck your wife, she may or may not have sexually experimented with other women, or has a kid(s) from a previous relationship. Not taking your last name is the last fucking straw. If she's not at least willing to do that, fuck her.

I've noticed this many times before.

Another good sign is if they have kids and the first born son doesn't have any combination of his Father's name. So if it's not a Jr., Same first name, same middle name, first name matches with middle or vice versa than watch out because it will probably end in divorce too.

Honestly, I'm surprised women still agree to name their children after the father nowadays. It's kind of a gamble, isn't it? I mean, it's great if she stays with the biological dad, but if they ever split up -- no man's going to want to hear the name of his girl's ex all the time, whether it's referring to him directly or indirectly through his namesake.

This is happening more because women are getting married later and have already established themselves and their names professionally. They also have credit cards, business cards, and the like in their names.

It's not like years ago when women married at age 21 and there were few things that reflected their maiden names. Heck, back in the '50s and '60s a lot of women didn't even drive, so they didn't have driver's licenses they have changed.

Here with hipsters and leftists, it's the norm. Not that they get married in large numbers though.

In the last decade or so, I've seen it happen with church-going Christians about 1/3 of the time. Sometimes they even joke about calling the husband Mr Wifesurname at the bloody wedding.

I must say I can't understand how much a loser those guys would be to stand there and take that on their own wedding day.

Pro-tip: Never marry a woman who doesn't beg you to take your last name.

Fixed.

"I can count on one hand, literally, the number of women I have ever met that can take that kind of advice, accept it and make use of it without their epic egos setting metaphorical fire to the conversation.

Most women "looking for advice" are in reality looking for someone to validate their cosmic victimhood, because it's not really their fault, because it's never their fault. This behavioural trait isn't absent among men, but when we fail society cares not, while when women fail there is no shortage of comforting platitudes on offer from every vector.
