Not really, hunter-gatherer societies today live to be about 70 years old; most of the low life expectancy was the result of disease or warfare (such as the AIDs crisis in Africa).

In the earliest tribes the natural order and gender roles seem to have been preserved very well; it's when men started tampering too much with nature and creating massive civilizations that everything went downhill.

Today the progressive narrative is that people started off as "savages" and have been slowly "progressing" along with technology; but in reality I see it the opposite; all of our efforts are simply undoing the damage we did when we created civilization. Unfortunately today we tend to over-value "safety and convenience" and view those without it as destitute, which plays a role in our turning to the welfare state to save us from ourselves versus being individually productive.

Not to mention technology and progress aren't always synonymous (the Nazis had much more scientific and technological knowledge than the ancient Greek philosophers, for example).

Well if we are living in a fantasy... or nightmare based on some of the comments hehe, I've got some ideas for my future glorious reign.

- All my opponents would be sterilized. I'd keep the people guessing as to who those opponents are so they are always on their toes.
- I'd ride on horseback across streams with my sons while hunting with a recurve bow. (Granted my arm-strength isn't there yet.)
- I'd have one primary wife that I loved and a haram of others for the purposes of having as many children as possible.
- I'd conquer the world. Take some slaves. Construct new wonders of the world.
- Establish my own just courts.

I don't think this is necessarily true. I've heard that the stats are skewed because people killed each other so often back then. People died young yes, but many of them were killed in wars and even simple confrontation which makes it look like 30 was old. Maybe ancient times yes but I know the last couple hundred years it's hard to get an accurate picture of old because people died younger for other reasons.

Its the constant disease that plagued population centers that caused such low life expectancies.
