You got shortstops and outfielders in the MLB that can throw ~100 to first base or home plate. Often the difference between a minor leaguer and a major league player is who can throw someone out better than someone who is already on the roster and has a good enough batting avg. to come along with it. Believe it or not, that is HARD to find. Having one minor league guy in a major league team sticks out like a sore thumb. Dropping a flyout or unable to snatch a flyout can lose a game outright.
Most pitchers don't even throw 100mph from the mound to home plate. That is definitely not something that's common among shortshops and outfielders.
Obviously it hurts to drop a flyball, but giving up a few extra hits or runs does not lose the game outright.
How many balls are actually hit into right field per game? 3? 6? 12?
On the other hand, how many possessions are there in a basketball game per team? 100?
Are you more likely to make a mistake in 12 tries or 100?
That's before we take into account what I talked about earlier, that a pitcher can prevent hits into right field and a midfielder can make plays in right field.
A basketball player can not keep the ball from being passed to a woman's assignment, and he can not guard her assignment for her.
Quote:They have legislated contact out of basketball enough to open a door for a non defense playing person that can shoot well *cough* James Harden* ahem. The NBA is more of a jumpshot league than ever before. Of any big sport, the NBA is closest to blending sexes than the others are.
As I already pointed out, the WNBA ball is smaller than the NBA ball, and the 3-point lines are much different.
Women can not consistently hit the NBA three with a regulation NBA ball. How can you argue that they can't throw a baseball, but they can chuck a huge basketball 24ft with accuracy and consistency?
Not only would they be useless on offense, their inability to spread the floor would hurt all of their teammates.
The NBA being closest to blending sexes is just pure bias.
NBA players are the biggest or the second biggest (behind NFL) athletic freaks of any American sports league.
You've got guys in the D-League who are 6'6"+ with 4.4 speed and 40"+ verticals.
How is one of the most athletic leagues the most non-athlete (women) friendly?
