Police investigate possible shooter at UCLA:

Quote:Two people were injured in a shooting at UCLA Wednesday morning, officials said.

The campus is on lockdown and people are being asked to shelter in place in the Engineering IV building, where the shooting appears to have taken place, according to the UCLA Newsroom. The shooting was first reported at Boelter Hall about 10 a.m.

The city of Los Angeles is on tactical alert as of 10:30 a.m., according to the LAPD, and motorists are being asked to avoid the campus.

The school’s newspaper, the Daily Bruin, is reporting that the shooter is wearing a black jacket and black pants.

Aerial video from Sky5 shows several ambulances and fire trucks on the campus as UCLA police and LAPD continue to search for a possible shooter. SWAT were also seen running on the campus and in armored vehicles.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is also responding to the agency.

The UCLA Newsroom Twitter sent out a tweet reporting the incident.

UCLA Bruin Alert also sent out a tweet saying the shooting occurred outside of an engineering building and asked students to get to a secure location.

Any bets as to the motive and shooter? UCLA has a huge student body with lots of Asians. I'm going to wager that it was some Asian omega male who was socially awkward and isolated. In today's modern campus driven by popularity and social media, these guys slip through the cracks until THEY crack. Anyone else want to take an alternative theory?

That ruined my mood, probably for the next week. How low can a bitch go? Shit, come on, it's like taking a selfie next to your deceased grandmother in her coffin and putting a halo emoji above her head and snapchatting yourself; I can't wrap my head around how entitled someone has to be to use a tragedy for attention. This, if nothing else, is perhaps the #1 sign of the decline, when one becomes desensitized and nonchalant about death itself.

FURTHER EDIT: Regardless, social media activism is often an ineffective tactic. California's gun restrictions couldn't stop a shooting, what can a selfie do? All it did here was anger more people.

Latest is that the shooter was "a graduate student despondent about his failing grades," so my money is on Asian, overachiever category.
