Boring fact insertion: The cadre of scientists who designed the atomic bomb (i.e. Fermi, Einstein, Feynman) were and some still are household names. Watson and Crick, the guys who discovered DNA, were also pretty famous. Not bad for a pair of acid tripping hippies.

Craig Venter created and is creating artificial life from scratch, and in about 20 years it will be very intense because you can program DNA to do whatever you want with enough practice.

What the hell ever happened to 3D printing? That was all the craze a few years ago, now you never hear about it.

They've practically gone extinct. Where the hell is our Einstein?

------------------------------------------------------------------

Something is going on here. Why is it that Black Science Man and Billy the College Dropout are the faces of modern science? Why are they pushing GMOs? Why are they pushing first Global Warming, then Climate Change?

1. A huge portion of the extremely brilliant people in American society are dedicating 100% of their time on things like artificial intelligence, virtual reality, electric cars, mars travel, etc. in Silicon Valley. It seems that a huge portion of the intellectual energy has been driven to that one hot spot to creating cutting edge products.

There are a significant number of brilliant scientists across the world, it is just that there research is not publicized.

2. Neil and Bill are science popularizers. GMO's, global warming, and climate change as represented by them is not really science. It is politicized science, so it is no longer really scientific at all. Climate change is just a part of the partisan political game now.

I just talked to my buddy recently. He's going to work on research on how to 3D print human tissue and eventually human organs. Now that is some crazy science shit right there.

3D printing is no longer as "cool" as it once was because a lot of places are carrying 3D printers they way they used to carry paper printers. They've gone mainstream with little 3D printer job shops popping up all over the place. The other problem is that the current batch of 3D printers can only print in plastic, so they are limited to making toys and models for the most part.
However, once the SLS printers get cheap enough, you will see job shops which can print whatever you want in metal. It may not be as good as a cast metal part, but it will be easier to get and a helluva lot faster to print up. No longer will you have to wait five days for a part supplier to ship you what you need, you'll be able to have it printed on the spot.

I'm sure psychology and social science is probably in decline as well; what with all of the political pushing regarding homosexual and transgender 'rights'.

An esteemed psychologist who's studied transgenders for 40 years recently came out and declared the trans movement to be promoting mental illness; he's likely now to be blackballed by activists demanding his resignation.

In favor of pro-trans psychologists like John Money (who was also a proponent of normalizing pedophilia between adult men and boys as young as 10 years old).

Top Brains are now either in CERN or Wall Streets,
the former busying cracking the God Particle's code, whereas the later busying devising derivatives and flooding the worlds with hundred of trillions of derivatives. neither of them care much about their publicity or screen time, perhaps.
