I recently found out that my ex girlfriend in Venezuela is pregnant and I have been losing sleep thinking that I might be having a son who will 1)be raised by a single mother and 2)raised in the disaster that is Venezuela right now (no water, no electricity, no diapers, no milk etc).

Details:

-We were last together (sex) around the 7th of September of 2015, 10th maximum.

-She hasn't told me anything nor demanded anything. If it is mine I have a feeling that she won't let me be a part of its life. She turned out to be awful and I doubt that has changed.

-I left Venezuela in December.

-Her mother tells me she is 34 weeks pregnant but doesn't know anything about who the father is so I don't know how accurate that number is (they aren't close).

-The last time we were together she was on the pill and it was period sex. I never once used a condom with her and we were together 2 months without any issues.

-When I found out I sent her a message in facebook saying if the kid is mine I will return to Venezuela and take care of him. My conscience won't allow me to abandon my progeny to be raised by a single mother....She hasn't responded to my messages.


9 months has clearly past already but I was checking online due date calculators and a lot of them were giving me dates in June. I am stressing out and don't know how to play this. Am I being paranoid for nothing? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Can't be certain she was on the pill, but if you blew inside her close to the last day of her period, there is a chance (albeit very slim) you could be the father.

If you want certainty you'll have to wait until the baby is born then do a paternity test, of which you'll need cooperation of the mother.

This is really horrible to have to say but your kid being raised by a single mother is the least of your worries. Hundreds of newborn babies must be dying every day in Venezuela, there was a Daily Mail article on it where they reported 8 or 9 newborns dead that day when they visited a hospital. The pictures are disgusting and atrocious so I wouldn't go looking for it personally. Not only that but food and riots is a big problem for a pregnant mother. I would get her out of Venezuela ASAP.

That said, a lot of this stuff sounds shady and suspicious. You need to talk with her and find out for certain whether you're the father.

My calculation is that as of today, it's 35 weeks

[No offense] sounds like the odds are that she sleeps or has slept with many guys. From a pure medical standpoint though you'd have to estimate how far she is along to completely exclude it.

Povich's reasoning above is probably correct though. If she's not accusing you, it probably isn't you.

If she ever responds back to your messages, ask her when was her last period. Ask the mother or wait till the baby comes out to see if it is obviously yours. I don't know Canadian laws on bringing kids back there with or without the mother, but you may end up failing to bring either one of them back. You probably do not want to because of the shadiness of the girl. If she does not want or need your help or involvement, you will have to take the loss on this one. Not every woman wants your passport or money regardless of their situation. Learn from your mistake and move forward. Try to keep in contact if it ends up yours because some women's attitude changes when the young boy starts getting testosterone in their system and only a father can calm their little asses down. That or they want them to go to a good school in your country.

Whatever you do, think very very carefully about trying to wife up that mother. Based upon what you told us so far, she has too many red flags to even attempt entertaining that thought. Don't be such a bleeding heart that you throw all rationalism out of the window.

If I were in your place, once the baby is born, I'd ask the girl to take a DNA test to see if I'm the biological father of the baby. If the girl objects to the DNA Test or she outright refuses to take it, I'd see this refusal a huge red flag to cuckold me.

7th Sept is 9 1/2 months ago. Unlikely to be yours if she is still pregnant.

Considering the lack of basic supplies in VZLA I'm not sure if a DNA test is really available.

And if it is, It'll be for an arm and a leg.

We will say that the last time you were with her was 10th September. 38 weeks brings us to the 2nd of June. If the baby is born between now and about the 7th of June I'd give you about a 40% chance of being the father.

If there are other men involved, she may be targeting you as you come from a rich country and could be an exit strategy from Venezuela, a now-failed state.

I know you meant this figuratively, but due to the lack of sanitation, you may literally lose an arm and a leg.

Probably not yours, with her being on the pill and not pushing for $$$$ from you.

You can take a DNA kit there later, all you need is a cheek swab, if you can get that.

She sounds hostile, probably because its some other dudes kid and she doesn't want you in the picture to wreck that for her.

Thanks for all the responses guys, it means a lot. I spoke to her mother again and she told me the due date will be the last 2 weeks of June, with September 10th being the last possible day I think I may have dodged a bullet.

To clarify some things:

-Venezuela is bad but it isn't that bad if you have money. I was living like a King there as of December.

-My ex girlfriend comes from a wealthy family in Venezuela. She is a fresa and spoiled rotten. I thought I could put her in her place, big mistake. She has family in Florida and Texas and Montreal, if she was after a passport she didn't need me for it.

-I was more worried about getting Hally Berried, her getting pregnant and pushing me out so she can be a strong independent single mother.

-She was with a next guy pretty soon after me but she didn't have an opportunity to cheat while we were together, he lives in another city and she was with me everyday. No doubt she was coqueteando with other guys with how shady she turned out to be.

-This wasn't a slam piece, I was taken in as part of this family, her mother still loves me like a son, I went on family vacations with these people.

-I really don't want to get back together with her if I don't have to, I am conflicted between escaping an awful woman and being a good father and having a strong family for my children. Having baby mamas wasn't in my life plan.


I am a little less anxious now but still don't want to put it behind me before I hear it from the horses mouth and am sure its not mine. Her mom is going to put her in contact with me. If I get through this unscathed I am going to be obsessively careful in the future, maybe a mandatory IUD policy. Again, thanks for all the support, it means a lot.
