BB, sorry, I have to reply to this.
You cannot compare male and female climbers.
Men have an understandable will and taste for challenging nature at its most powerful. Thus men sail and climb.
Women on the other hand have no business doing the same. They were made for the glorious, fundamental task of having babies and growing them into beautiful adult beings. Respect to them, but, they were not created (or designed by nature, take your pick) to be war heroes or climb snowy mountains or cross the Atlantic on a sailboat. They sometimes do, sure, but they shouldn't.
So, my take of this story is:
this woman was quite nice-looking, still "bangable", and 34 years old. So what the fuck was she doing climbing the Everest?? She should have been in her country trying to have babies with a nice employed man. Priorities, priorities.
Wow.
So impressed by the fact you couldn't help but reply with your status quo opinions.
So glad you guys came to dump some knowledge in my head....
Let's ignore that there's a woman who has climbed the mountain six times. Let's ignore that a 73 year old women has climbed it. Let's gnore that there were more men than women in this ill fated group.
Look. I'm not arguing against what you guys are saying.
I'm arguing against your limp wrist keyboard warrior attempts to squeeze every story into your narrative and sitting at home talking shit while people willing to actually take risks are out there actually doing shit like climbing mount Everest. Yes, even if they fuck it up and for a cause they believe in.
Is that how you kids roll these days? Sit behind your computer and laugh at anyone who dares to; "virtue signal"? How many of you have actually climbed a mountain...let alone Mount Everest????
Fucking hilarious. Please kick me off this forum.

BB, I'm usually pretty much in favor of your posts defending "third world" women, whom from time to time are disrespected, on some threads... For example, I like when you stress the fact that a beautiful woman from a "poor third world" background, is still a respectable beautiful woman, worth pursuing and trying to seduce.
But this case is different. It is about priorities for a 34 years old, still beautiful woman. Should her normal priority be, climbing huge lethal mountains, or becoming a quiet and faithful mother at home? My opinion, it'd be preferable for almost all women to choose the second, safe and normal, and productive solution. Why is my opinion so shocking? (and do note that I've never "tried to kick you out" of anything, for 2 reasons: first, I enjoy your informative and truthful posts on SEA, secondly I am no moderator here. So I think you are over-reacting to my conservative-values post.)

Actually, this is the mirror image of the women who complain about single men who pursue hobbies at the expense of growing up and settling down.
I think it's in our DNA to want to see people who look like they should reproduce doing just that. This goes for the fertile-looking female climbing mountains instead of having babies, and the strapping young dude playing video games instead of fathering children.
HOWEVER...
The mainstream media has only ever given use the women's side of this: "Video games bad! Women good!"
The reason discussing "priorities for a 34 years old, still beautiful woman" rankles people is because this narrative is not part of the mainstream dialogue. It hasn't been since the 1960s. None of us grew up with it, so it comes off as rude.
But it is a valid point to make. If women want to hammer the square pegs into round holes when it comes to men, why is the reverse of this somehow wrong?

RE: Woman climbs Mount Everest to prove vegans aren't weak, dies
Altitude and mountains are great levellers. I've been skiing on a few occasions with friends I considered to be much more sporty than me but saw them give up on skiing after only a few days, making excuses and even feigning injury. I've also been at 12,000 feet and skiied. You notice the difference but I was OK.
I've been hillwalking many times in the Scottish highlands.
I'm not claiming to be Hans Kammerlander but I can at least parallel turn, and get down nearly all black runs.
Having said that, whether a Vegan climbs mount Everest or dies on the way down (most people who die succumb on the way down) proves nothing apart from the fact that climbing 8,000 M peaks is incredibly dangerous. At one time the statistic was one in six climbers had died attempting Everest.
The mountains deserve our ultimate respect, humility and caution teamed with bravery, they should not be approached "to make a point".

Great point. The minute you don't respect the mountain, that's when it gets you. Especially big mountains like Everest. Going there to prove that vegans can do everything is just bullshit.
I worked last season with a vegan, was cold all the time and pretty low energy, lazy and a shit attitude too. Part of this must be due to diet.

Respect ALL mountains! Even the 1,000M peaks in the UK.
Here people die every year, especially in the Scottish highlands in winter. We can have sudden changes of weather, white outs, disorienting fogs, high winds and in the winter, snow cornices on ridges. Even the Scottish highlands demand respect!
But with the 8,000M peaks, you have not only altitude to contend with but also the death zone. Above 8,000 M due to the lack of oxygen the body cannot repair itself, sleep properly or even digest food properly. You are literally dying slowly over 8.000M.
