It strikes me as strange that such a policy didn’t already exist in UK? In France any migrant worker needs to earn at least 1.5x the minimum wage to be even able to get a temporary work permit. Permanent residency is even way harder.
I’m all for this kind of policy for the obvious good it would do to the native workers.

It's really a non-issue for her unless she makes it one. Self-employed people control their own income. She could easily earn more, that would require recruiting more students, lobbying for more grants, or maybe even charging more (*gasp* dirty capitalist!) among other choices. Also known as working harder and increasing productive output, ie the entire point of this initiative.

Painting a broad brush here. Interrupting any corrupt cultural chain through mentorship does help the host society. Lack of father figures and role models has been offered as an explanation for everything from white knights to gang members on RVF. Clearly this chick isn't an ideal role model, but don't discount music as an "instrument" of cultural change. Learning to play requires discipline, productive use of time, and grows self-esteem. Silver lining.

The road to hell is oaved with good intentions. Such is liberal mentality. If this was for British orphans it would be extremely noteworthy.

I'm with Gorgiass music is an amazing way to instill discipline and it helps build character as well as patience. On her salary she can easily increase it if she wanted to work harder as stated earlier.

Anyway I agree with this rule. £35,000 equates to £4,800 in income tax and £3,232.80. More than £8,000 seems like a reasonable contribution to your host nation.

This biddy in the article only contributes about £2,272.80 to society but takes a hell of a lot more out of it. Essentially a sponger.

This only applies to a small fraction of immigrants, the ones who enter the country based on the point system and/or because they got a job offer from a local company. Those are generally the immigrants who tend to contribute to society, at least financially.

This does not apply to refugees who breed like rabbits, mail order brides and the likes of Eastern European peasants and gypsies with EU passports who can move in and out of the UK whenever they want.

While this rule looks good to the low information voter, it actually does very little to stop immigration. It also lowers the average quality of immigrants who enter and stay.
