For $12 per year, you can get a .com registration with private WHOIS. Haven't found anything to be cheaper.

I never knew Google did domains.

I used to jump around loads of different registrars but always use Namesilo now. It's $8.99 per year with free WHOIS and I've not had any headaches with them so far.

Just wanted to bump this thread after using NameSilo.com for the last year. Switched all my Google Domains to them, as we all know, Google is an SJW company and they are also more expensive. Paid just $8.39 with a discount code, includes WHOIS privacy. Highly recommended.
