Excellent idea and somewhat similar to a venture I am going to be embarking on fairly soon.

You have probably considered this already, but protect yourself legally from the beginning - I'm not sure if you've incorporated already but something like walking around in public spaces and hitting on girls could result in some legally sticky situations.

I hear ya! But what have we become if a single man can no longer even walk the streets and approach women he desires without worrying about being sued? It's the last freedom men have in this world feminists have not been able to shutdown yet. So long as it is not blatantly disrespectful, like going up to a target and grabbing her ass. Which is not my style.

Thanks for all the great goodies you PM'd me.

This might be the case in the Us but outside of the land of the free and brave not to worry.

I think in Colombia, it is not just socially accepted that men approach women all the time, it is HIGHLY encouraged!!!

I have no link.

You are an American man in a foreign land with a camera crew filming yourself walking up to women and making your sexual intentions clear. I imagine there is at least one unpleasant situation that can come out of this recurring scenario that would justify legal protection.

For this kind of venture he would want to form an LLC for legal purposes anyway. I specified the game aspect of it but I meant for that suggestion to apply to other domains as well.

Man-on-the-street projects have been done for decades. Point us to just one incident of something going bad to at least substantiate your view. Otherwise it's based on some type of fear. I get a lot of emails from guys projecting their fears onto my travel choices ("dont go there!"... "be careful"... etc.).

If I was Mixx I wouldn't worry about anything. Besides, in Colombia you're only a small bribe away from resolution.

I don't have anything, my comment was a kneejerk reaction from a business standpoint to protect yourself from something IF anything did go wrong. It's not hard to incorporate.

This may have been taken out of context. I've had a long email exchange with Mixx about different business and legal risks for this kind of venture and I peppered that comment in.

I have no examples of previous cases in which this has happened.

Do what you want, I'm just trying to be helpful.

With all due respect I like to think of it more as risk management than fear.

Again, I'm not talking only about situations that can arise from game stuff, although that is admittedly what I first specified.

RE: Mixx's lifestyle artist Youtube channel project
I think that YMG has a valid point. A lot of people, especially law officials, get nervous when they're being filmed. My brother almost got locked up just for filming a meter maid, here in the US. It's not inconceivable that some dirty foreign corrupted officials might make a scene, especially if they have a vendetta against foreigners. Also, the girls getting hit on on camera may not consent to the footage being distributed, as it could be considered defamation of character. It'd be good to have legal consent forms to deter these people from thinking of taking action against you.

Here's a link on diligent photography/video:
http://communications-media.lawyers.com/...nsent.html

Here's a link of it happening in the real world, just off the top of my head. Happens all the time:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/arts/film/story/2...wsuit.html

If you dont plan to make any $$ from the project, that helps some, but if you are planning to monetize then you should do it legit and form an LLC so that anybody suing can't try to take your personal assets.

Don't let it deter you. The project sounds fascinating!

Hey guys, I get YoungMobile...and he is being very helpful - let's go easy on him-he's down with Mixx!

.....It's prudent to always "legally" protect yourself. Luckily, in Colombia, I blend in with locals, and not the typical stereotype gringo: cargo Shorts, sandals, Hawaiian shirt and white as snow... Smile

I think one of my best preemptive weapons is having a SMOKING HOT FEMALE CO-HOST, it softens the blow of jealously from local dudes, and makes it look like a reality TV show.

Indeed, it kind of gives the feeling that theres a Wild On crew at the party, and from what I've seen in the show, everybody loves these people!

RE: Mixx's lifestyle artist Youtube channel project
Ok Guys, first - I'd like to thank a lot of the members here who have reached out to me offering their help, and advise for this project to be a success.

I am so excited about how it is evolving into a web-series that will entertain and inform all of us as I go around the world gaming, reviewing nightclubs, and just hanging out with beautiful women eager to entertain my viewers.

Each episode has been budgeted to cost me 10KUSD to produce, edit, master, and distribute. As such, I am looking to you guys for help on best places to stream these videos that would generate some revenue for me like Blip.tv - Youtube will just take ownership of my content and have 90% control of it. I don't like that.

Ultimately, I'd like to turn this show into a "web-series", but I have not found any sites that can be useful like Blip.tv that splits its advertising revenue 50/50 with the video producers.

A second choice was I sign ip with Itunes to sell each video download.

With that said, I will take some of the advice of some people who have done web-series TV shows, and will likely start looking at places like Blip.tv where I can at least make some revenue to covers costs initially.

Anyone here have any ideas, thoughts they like to share to make this web-series get off the ground running with "earning" potential...PM please, I'd love to talk to you.

Once again, thanks to all the guys that have already reached out with very good ideas to move this forward. You know who you are..

Oh yeah, a few guys asked about making donations to the production of the show: If anyone wants to make a donation, It is certainly appreciated. PM me for my PayPal Addy

** Anyone who makes a donation over 50USD will get a very special "surprise" video thank you from one of the models in Medellin I film - just for you.

RE: Mixx's lifestyle artist Youtube channel project
I think it makes sense to do both. The itunes marketplace will be more targeted towards mac users. Once you have the final product, the actual videos, it wouldn't be too hard to make it available in both places.

However if you're going to have it be paid download I think it would make sense to make the paid download version longer or have some extra stuff in it to make it worth it.

I think it makes sense to record two versions of your shows. A version that will get distributed to many social media sites including facebook video, youtube, vimeo etc. And then longer versions that would require a paid download. You could also raise the incentive for the paid download by delaying the releases. Paid downloads would have certain release dates while the free stuff would be release later. Plus the paid download regardless of whether it's on itunes or not would have good extra content...

Eventually other people will upload your stuff to youtube, and other places. So you'll be on youtube wether you like it or not, might as well be you who does the uploading, plus the traffic and links you get from all of these social media sites would be good for traffic and rankings.

I think Youtube is too big to miss out on it. As Dan said some loser's gonna upload it to Youtube anyway so its better if you upload it and gain some revenue. Also, as he said, maybe you could do something like Top Gear. Have the full episodes available for download on Itunes and have maybe 1 part of an episode up on Youtube. Top Gear has hour long episodes but they upload 10 minute long clips that really hook new viewers.

My videos will be Copyrighted. So, if anyone uploads to youtube without my permission, all I have to do is inform Youtube of a Copyright violation. However, if gets to the point where thousand of people are distributing the show on youtube...well, I'll just cross that bridge when I get there. I don;t mind having teasers up there.

Does YouTube even pay people for video content shows? I thought it was you paying them for marketing and advertising?

Topgear sounds solid, and a teaser on youtube is a great idea. Thanks guys!

If you're stuff is good, like I think it will be, people will throw it on youtube and it's going to take time and money (as in hiring other people to this for you) to get youtube to take it off... thats the nature of the Internet. You can give it a shot if you want, but I would suggest going with the flow instead of trying to fight it.

Mixx,

Youtube gives you ad revenue if you have a lot of views on your channel and you apply to be a partner and enable ads.
You won't have control over how much you make, but if you put in 10 min clips of each(I'm guessing) 1 hour episode you could be making some money back.
In my opinion Youtube is essential because that's where you can create buzz for your videos.
Also, Google ranks Youtube search results very highly for Google Search which makes it easier to promote your video series with whatever keywords you're trying to target.

RE: Mixx's lifestyle artist Youtube channel project
Hate to be a wet blanket here, but as someone who's filmed guys hitting on girls on the street and made money off of it before, here's a couple things you need to worry about:

- Release forms. Doesn't matter if you make money or not. If you put up a video of a girl without her permission and she finds out, she can sue your ass. It has nothing to do with hitting on her. It has everything to do with filming her without her written permission. This goes for anybody, girls or guys (although I imagine you'll be approaching fewer guys).
- The other option is to blur their faces and bleep their names. Which obviously puts a dent in your aspirations a bit. But it also requires dozens of hours of video editing and hiring a video editor (hundreds of dollars).
- Any establishment you film in, you need their prior permission. If you walk into a bar or club and film the girls, at best they'll throw your ass out, at worst they'll sue you for using the footage filmed within a private establishment without permission.

Sure you can go with it anyway and risk it, but just letting you know up front. People finding out and coming after you isn't likely. But the more popular you get, the more likely it becomes and the more they'll be able to fuck you over. I just figure you should know what you're getting into.

And the fact that you wouldn't be making money off of it doesn't matter. The lawsuit would be for defamation and damages most likely, invasion of privacy, etc... so LLC or not, you'd probably end up coughing up thousands of dollars (maybe tens of thousands depending on how popular you got), not to mention legal fees, trials, etc.

I mean, just look at the Girls Gone Wild guy. That dude got every girl to sign written contracts before he filmed them granting him permission and he still got wiped out and sent to jail. Filming in public isn't something you can just fuck around about. Be careful.

Mixx, here's another way to get initial funding. See: http://www.kickstarter.com/

Several music/video-oriented creative projects have been funded by regular folks who are excited about new artists and donate money to help them produce their first album/video/film. Kickstarter lets you define a funding goal for your project and reach out to people. If they like the idea, they donate money to see it come to life. To get the money your project must meet it's funding goal.

See: http://www.kickstarter.com/help/faq/kick...r%20basics

They say that over 10k projects (mostly ~$5k each in funding) have been successfully launched.

Entropy, very wise words.

I have a legal team of 3 attorneys ready to back me up. In lieu of signing a form, you can also capture video-footage of the girls where they give their consent to be filmed. Although, a written consent form is rock-solid, video-footage of girls agreeing to be filmed to appear on public broadcast will hold up in court per my attorneys in Colombia, and Florida.

Luckily, the majority of my films are being held in Central and South America, where the law is nothing but a bribe away...but I will still take legal precautions. I may blow-up pretty big doing this stuff opening gateways for frivolous lawsuits.

Nice! Good to hear you got it handled.

And yeah, I have no idea how the legal system "works" in Colombia, but I'm sure they have ways around it.
