Planning on traveling for just over a week or so. I'll be going with my friend who speaks no Spanish, I speak a little bit but not at the conversational level.

The priority isn't only on nightlife and getting laid, but it is a factor in the equation on where to go. We are also interested in relaxing on beaches and other touristy type of shit. Knowing that there will be a language barrier, would a place like Cartagena be a good pick? As two pretty obvious gringos would we have any luck with the girls there, and are there fun things during the day? Also does anyone know about Mancora, Peru? Is that a similar type of beach town?

Cartagena is a bad pick, given the no Spanish requirement.

I don't know Puerto Plata. In general, Peruvian beaches aren't that great. I'd vote Costa Rica given what the OP wrote. Or Mexico perhaps.

That place is a shithole. (In my opinion.)

Why not suggest Santiago, or SD?
