I might have posted this before, but the one who he supposedly didn't get was Susanna Hoffs. He wrote that Manic Monday song, let her have it and make a hit out of it, because he wanted to bang her, then she ended up rejecting him.

RE: Prince is dead
Prince was the kind of talent that, even if you weren't into the music style or personality, you have to respect the talent. I know tons of rock fans who were blown away by his superbowl performance or his version of guitar gently weeps. I'm mostly a country fan and I think the guitar solo from Purple Rain is as tastey as anything else ever played on a telecaster. I've always wanted to hear it done on a pedal steel, I've found a few covers but nothing well done.

Prince was a once in a generation talent who transcended genres. Music fans of any genre can appreciate Prince's talent. RIP.

I've been asked to speak at his funeral. This is as far as I got with the eulogy so far:

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today..."

Take care of those titties for me.

For real, Prince was the "Studio Killer" waaaay before the internet. He could write, perform, record, produce, remix and control all aspects of his sound at a time when other artists relied HEAVILY on production houses to create their sound. Prince is a legend RIP.

Damn just heard.

Saw Prince play live twice in the 90's, once at Wembley Stadium and once at Wembley Arena with the New Power Generation. Awesome gigs, awesome artist.

First Bowie now Prince, two geniuses gone too soon.

Dammit. Prince taught me to drum with the precision of a metronome, how to layer harmonies, and what 9ths and 13ths were. For a hugely-commercial force in the 80's, he was an incredibly-experimental artist.

Prince has a sick solo in the second half of that video. I was never into him prior to that but when that video came out many years ago, my respect for his skills went way up. I know legit talent when I see it. That said, I've been meaning to go through his catalog and see what he is all about beyond the big hits.

Damn shame. 57. Fuck.

It's days like today that I'm harshly reminded to not always live for tomorrow.

I don't get why people say he "died too young."

He had lived a full life, achieved things that the vast majority of men can only dream of and was pushing 60.

Being alive simply for the sake of being alive is not a mindset I understand.

However, really the lesson there is to be great at what you do to attract groupies in the first place.
