I ask because I have had women in my family use this exact strategy for years. The daughter asking dad for help with homework, and then getting distracted or changing the subject or saying, "I know!" when he tries to point something out.

When he loses his temper and gives up, she says, "No, you promised you'd help!"

Or the grandma who asks for help finding her keys, and then, as the whole family is turning the place upside down looking, just sits there with a satisfied smile on her face, watching everyone but herself scurry around.

Eventually, she says, "Oh look, they were in my purse all along, isn't that weird? Isn't that funny?" in an innocent voice, daring anyone to complain.

Even if these posters aren't actually female, the strategy is a feminine one, as it is basically a time wasting gambit, the idea being, oh, look how powerful I must be if I have a whole group running around solving my problems for me.

And guess what, you get bonus points if you can get people to waste their time on a pointless task, because getting people to help you is one thing, getting them to throw away their time on something you can easily do yourself, or don't need at all is, in the superficial female mind, a sign of being a maximally powerful individual.

What are the counter strategies to this type of trolling?

Same of the guys asking for help are genuine, I think. It's just that when you're in that state, it's hard to believe in anything else so you'll need to be bitch slapped a couple of times around so you can come to your senses.

Whenever we see an incel commit an act of violence, many RVFers say "If only he had seeked help on the forum"....but when someone does seek help, we tend to call them trolls.

You require them to demonstrate some minimal sort of effort before you bother helping them yourself. Someone asks for help with a training routine and you think they might be simply seeking attention?

"Stage one. 50 situps. 15 chinups. 20 Pushups. Anyone can get to this stage with minimal effort and no proper routine. Get back to me when you've gotten this far and we'll talk about a serious plan."

This forces them to go away for several weeks at very least before they come back, and if they're simply attention seekers then they're unlikely to come back at all. Even building/maintaining an alter ego that can do 50/15/20 is too much effort for those types of people to bother with.

That's just one example. Demand a demonstration of determination from those (suspected) types and they'll rage-quit or simply disappear in a puff of smoke.

Yeah I think suits just needed to offload some sarcasm. The dad troll type is well known, and it's usually some guy who shows up out of nowhere to browbeat more established members, not the other way around.

Basically a dad troll is a guy who treats differences of opinion between men the same way a dad does to a child, a paternal tone of discipline, as though he's somehow your dad and his opinion and advice is automatic fact -- and it's arrogant as fuck.

If anything longstanding members are the opposite of this (except a couple who drop the "you are wrong simply because you just aren't smart enough to understand this as I do"). They talk in a tone of reason and listening and consideration of the facts -- which is what distinguishes us from the left afterall.
