WC,
There are a ton of such podcasts out there. What's unique and original about yours? Is it going to be just another podcast where the host(s) is simply interviewing other LE guys? If that's the case, then that wouldn't fly much. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you ask yourself, what can you bring to the table that is different and unique? and not just be another copy cat podcast out there about location independence!

Look into ways that you can separate your podcast from all the myriads of other similar ones. Focus on one specific niche or industry or area to make yours unique.

I say go for it! I havent found many location independent podcasts. Ive found a few entrepreneurship podcast like the Tropical MBA but nothing comes close to the Tropical MBA as far as "location independence" genre or niche market goes. I would gladly add another one to my subscribed list if I found one.

I currently subscribe to:
TED NPR (this one makes me more well rounded with interesting research and studies, inspiring to listen to)
Danger and Play (always love learning from mike, mindset, relationships, everything)
Tropical MBA (always learning something, great to listen to as well)
Join up Dots (positive mindset and inspiring stories, my favorite on the list)
Chat with Traders (gets me in right frame of mind for trading, rarely capitalize on trading methods)
Art of Charm (great people/relationship advice!)
Tim Ferris podcast (dont listen often episodes are too long)

I used to listen to Joe Rogan and Dan Carlin which are both excellent but they are too long. I recommend 10 minute -1 hour podcasts but no longer than that. I try to listen to 1-3 podcasts a day, focusing on one subject with a bunch of fluff built in for 2 hours and three 5-10 minutes worth of advertisements built in (tim ferris/joe rogan) makes me anxious to move onto something else. Study Art of Charm, Join up Dots, NPR Ted, and Tropical MBA; see if you can imitate their style, energy and enthusiasm. Most of all make sure youre getting in for the right reasons. Keep us posted!

I bet that whatever listeners you generate are more interested in how to leave their cubicles and less about the lifestyle.

WIA is right. I am pretty sure guys can figure out how to spend their time and resources once they are free of the cubicle. Just getting free from the cubicle is the hardest part. And while one off stories are nice, if the situations are so unique it might be hard for any of your listeners to do the same.

Exactly that ^^ it's a saturated market i.e. there are so many location independent podcasts out there. What could make yours different is if you infuse with some neomasculinity / red pill / international SMV etc as well. For example, maybe you could not only interview guys who have successfully gone location independent, but have also gone to live in various pussy paradise cities, and find out their insights. Kind of like a data sheet presented as a podcast format.

Being on this forum means you have access to a demographic of suitable quality rvf members to interview. If anonymity is an issue, you and/or your guests can use an alias or rvf name.

Another thing worth mentioning is frequency, I think a once per month quality podcast with interesting content is better than churning out a once per week subpar podcast too like some other podcasters do.

Have a crack at it! I, for one, would definitely subscribe and be listening to your podcast.

You could have like hundred interviews just on RVF alone, but keep it open to others

There needs to be more good content, period.

I started listening to zerototravel podcasts recently. He has put out 120+ podcasts focusing on travel and location independence. A lot of his topics are covered in the travel and lifestyle forums here. Most of them are pretty short (20-30 minutes) and include an interview with somebody who has accomplished the topic at hand. Some of the podcasts just scratch the surface and others go pretty in depth.

It might be worth scanning through the list for some different ideas and contacting some of the guests to appear on your podcast if you like what they have to say.

As several posters have already mentioned, there are a lot of travel and location independence podcasts out there but none that approach it from the masculine/game mindset that is cultivated here (at least none that I have discovered).

Somebody is going to eventually do it, might as well be you WeekendCasanova.

I appreciate the feedback everyone.

Initially, I did want to start a podcast that while focused on location independence, did have a masculinity/game theme. Problem is, the friend assisting me with this podcast, while into game, is more focused on the entrepreneurship/business aspect of becoming location independent.

Who knows - maybe I'll do both. In any case, I'll be sure to keep everyone updated!

Yeah there have a been quite a few very similar podcasts over the years but most of them for various reasons, died down slowly. The ones that have made it over the years and still going strong, off the top of my head:

The Tropical MBA (being THE top one in the category)
The Freedom Loving Podcast by Kevin Koskella
Love Affair Travel Podcast by Ian Robinson
Hobo CEO by Chris and Nico
Bootstrapping it! by Vince Carter
EOFire by John Lee Dumas (not really a podcast on location independence but on entrepreneurship and one of my overall fav podcasts).
My wife quit her job by Steve Chou

My wife quit her job podcast has some solid content at times, but the guy is uber beta from the sound of it and it is very vanilla and mainstream.

The one podcast that I've yet to see and I'd love to see, is one where the host talks about business and women in a red pill way. Take Location Independence Business/traveling the world to take advantage of geo-arbitrage for not only lifestyle but also quality of women. Basically a podcast version of the Travel and Lifestyle sections of this very forum. That would have tremendous potential IMO and would take off like wildfire if done properly...

Which podcasts are you referring to specifically? I've seen a few, but they've mostly been very surface level and/or part of a some internet marketing product. They interview guys who are location independent as a sales technique to sell you their course or something.

As for our niche, we don't want to be too restrictive. This is a passion project as much as it is an informative one for the listeners. It's my journey to location independence as well, so the plan is to share my progress in addition to the whatever the individual being interviewed is saying.

In saying that, when myself and my friend were discussing the creation of this podcast, we wanted to focus on people who've built an online business. Something sustainable that produces a relatively passive income.

Ideally after a bunch of interviews, I'd create an ebook going over a bunch of the different ways people have gone about becoming location independent, and provide the ebook for free.

I do appreciate any feedback!

If this conflict is an issue, you could have a gentleman's bet with your friend.

Create one podcast to your liking, then create one to his liking.

Whichever one gets more listens within a week of simultaneous release wins the bet.

As cold as it might sound, you could also do your own thing. I'd be glad to help out.

I actually support a "Red Pill" style podcast regarding Location Independence. Reason being is that IMO mainstream guys always seem to be linking up for the sole purpose of promoting each others blogs. I've seen too much regurgitation of the "Freelance/Start a Blog/Write e-Books/Teach English" cliche that from my experience is always laid out the same way, yet so many guys are still financially struggling to do so, or at the very least find out they were sold B.S. in a shiny package. I'd like to simply hear the perspective of low profile guys who don't have their faces out for all to see in the mainstream, where they have to be Politically Correct, lest the SJW's come after them, and who don't have to tell the masses what they wanna hear just to get their affiliate commissions and e-book sales.

Don't neglect to interview all the "big names" too. Builds instant authority and will ensure you're able to monetise the podcast quickly.

^^^ Agreed with Nitro. A great angle rarely tackled is explaining how to do Affiliate Marketing & eCommerce niche sites properly - no-one does this. 30daystox.com for example touches on it but no-one has information to the same adequate depth needed to replicate it.

For creative inspiration I'd recommend Smart Passive Income Podcast, Tropical MBA and Tim Ferriss Podcast.

OP, me and H3ltrsk3ltr also have a current podcast. I think we have a consistent listenership but don't necessarily have a lot of consistent or constructive feedback just yet. I think that's a factor of fresh content. We have been able to secure a good amount of well known forum guests though. So we will see. We both enjoy doing it so for us, that enjoyment is the biggest factor.

1) Not that WeekendCasanova owes us an update, but curious where he's at with the podcast.

2) I figure if four weeks from April 21 go by without an update, I'll start it myself - with hat-tips to WeekendCasanova for the initial public idea, of course.

To give credit where credit is due, NomadofEU and I did discuss a similar idea in private before, but we never started it.

I've been in Halifax for the past week and a bit for a friend's wedding, which is why I've been MIA.
