Seeing as how we are in the middle of a harsh downturn here in the west I am curious to hear what people are doing to make extra cash.

Currently I am running a window/yard cleaning hustle on the side and wanting to expand it a bit ( not sure which direction just yet )

I've worked at a funeral home for a while picking up dead bodies.

Good (sort of) money for a part-time job but being on call all the time is a pain in the ass.

I sometimes write articles for online papers like jezebel. They pay isn't great, but I get to meet some pretty girls over the internet.

Some of the things I have done:
1. Write academic papers
2. Sell what I have written online
3. Consult to businesses

This is of course while I work almost full time.

I work on the completions side of the oilfield. I work a 2 week on 1 week off schedule, but I typically work 5 or 8 weeks straight then take a week off. Been saving up to either get into rental properties and/or starting a business.

Small-time music recording for local artists. If I was more serious about marketing myself and getting my name out there it could be a pretty hefty supplemental income source.

I'm venturing into web automation, and there's a nice market for various bots.

Used to offer gigs on 5'er where I'd press a button, took 5 mins, and then get paid for it until they deleted my gig.

That's awesome! could you expand more about making and selling bots - I guess it's things like scraping, trading strategies, etc?

Where would a developer go to find out more about this biz model - any good forums or resources?

I'm not a programmer (never written any code in my life), but I use off the shelf bot creation software like Zennoposter or uBot.

The only limiting factor is your imagination, but, it's best to hang around sites like Blackhatworld, etc, and see what people may need in terms of services/bots, etc. For example, a guy was part of a large expired domain Skype group, and he made a killing with his own software (sold to the group). It's better to receive payments monthly, as you end up with a nice residual income.
