The official title of this heap o' trash is Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Sounds like the title of a kids' read-along book & cassette.

Exactly. If I'm such a misogynist for hating the new Star Wars, why do I love the Alien franchise? Sigourney Weaver has talent and charisma, and the movies were well-written. Even though there was certainly intentional girl-power in them, it wasn't mere propaganda for blockheads.

Same here. T2 is one of my favorite movies and Linda Hamilton was great in it.

Then again, it might have more to do with James Cameron being a great fucking director, and there really hasn't been a director of that caliber since. I feel like like Cameron was more about putting together an awesome film rather than pushing an agenda down your throat.

Whatever Alien is, Aliens is not a SJW movie. Ripley turns into a conventional mother, Hicks is basically Dad in that film, and the only lesbian figure in the film -- Vasquez -- is portrayed as unhinged.

RE: Star Wars: Rogue One comes out December
Imagine if Lucas had had the vision (and temperament) to go down the road of spinoffs and sequels back in the mid-1980s.

Specifically, laying out a detailed backstory for the fictional universe, outlining several films/film series detailing different periods or events (such as the topic of this one), and then farming them out to talented production teams to write, produce, and direct, allowing (more capable) others to tell the various stories while retaining overall control of the universe and its characters, themes, and continuity. Perhaps with the "Skywalker family trilogy of trilogies" as the tentpole for the entire fictional universe.

Obviously that would never have happened, Lucas being Lucas. But it's an interesting what-if to consider.

Isn't that sort of how Empire was made? Widely considered the best of the series?

Haha these mother fuckers are geniuses. Buy the Star Wars series/franchise from Lucas for a few billion and then churn out enough shit to pay it off within a few years.

I didn't watch Star Wars: The Feminist Awakens and don't plan to watch any of the other garbage put out by Disney.

What I can't wait for is computer graphics to be easy and affordable enough for a group of die hard fans to pool their resources together and make their own fan-film. Sure it won't look 100% perfect but it is the last hope to get good stories in the Star Wars universe without the SJW influence. Unfortunately Disney owns the characters so it would probably be a black market kind of thing with Disney chasing after them to shut it down.

RE: Star Wars: Rogue One comes out December
Regardless of the SJW/feminist angle stuff, I don't have high hopes for this.

The director (Gareth Edwards) hasn't produced very entertaining movies in the past.

Monsters (his indie "hit") was one of the most boring movies I have ever seen despite some real potential. How it got such rave reviews, I have no idea.

Godzilla if I recall, looked cool in the trailers but was very underwhelming as a viewing experience. It's been a while so I can't recall my exact thoughts but I just remember it being only OK and not really living up to the hype.

I think Rogue One is gonna be similar: boring and a bit underwhelming. I'm really surprised Disney handed off a Star Wars film to someone who is 2/2 in making boring and underwhelming movies. JJ Abrams made sense; he had Star Trek and other stuff under his belt. Rian Johnson (director of Episode 8) made sense; he did an awesome science fiction film called Looper.

But Edwards? Disney done fucked up I think and I wonder if this will be the first universally "disappointing" Star Wars movie released of the post-Lucas era. Like Phantom Menace boring/bad. I also wonder how if Trump is elected in November (meaning a majority rejection of political correctness essentially in the USA), how much of a negative impact that will have on the release in December. For all we know, it could be trendy and cool to publicly make fun of "women warriors" and shit. The Force Awakens already showed that a decent amount of the non-red pill community (if you look over the comments sections at various blue pill sites) was questioning how easily Rey became a badass and calling bullshit on it. I could see Rogue One being a symbolic rejection of political correctness if the movie is shit (by general public standards) and given the possible political environment at the time. People will cite how a potential good and entertaining movie got squeezed due to Disney's politically correct agenda.

Aside from that, I'm disappointed they went with this story given the many more interesting routes they could have gone (Dark Forces stuff, for example). I also hope Disney utilizes James Earl Jones and gets one solid Darth Vader movie out of him before he kicks the bucket. Supposedly, Darth Vader is gonna be in this Rogue One movie but to what degree is uncertain. Could be a 1 minute cameo or as a significant figure playing as a "stalking element" according to something I read. The latter idea has real potential if done right but I trust Edwards to fuck it up.

And its cool to see we got some Jedi Outcast fans here as well. Loved the saber dynamics in that game; especially during multiplayer matches. You can get that and Academy for a few bucks on Steam by the way. There are still active servers for those interested.

Yeah basically.

It was the film in the series that had the least input from George Lucas so of course it's the best one. Iconic moments like Yoda training Luke, and his fight with Vader come from that movie. For George to make something worth watching he needs someone else helping or doing all the work for him. With Empire, it was Irvin Kershner. And with Indiana Jones, it was Steven Spielberg.

I've always thought of George Lucas as oil.

Straight out of the ground there's not much use to it. But with the help of heat and distillation, you can make some wonderful things.

This is not just a problem with Star Wars - everything from UnHolyWood has been unwatchable for the last couple of years. I used to love watching movies, but anything it has produced lately has been just liberal propaganda, with shitty story, full of plot holes and over the top special effects to dull the brain.

I myself could adjust and just spend more time in real life, but I am worried about the young generation who will grow up being impressed with this shit.

5'3 tall Felicity Jones is somehow a butt kicking Rogue soldier beating several military trained 200 pounds men.

Episode VII had a Marie Sue for lead character.

RE: Star Wars: Rogue One comes out December
Just watched the trailer again and all it did is piss me off more, it looks like a decent story but you know it's going to be ruined by militant SJW propaganda. The girl said it herself, "I'm a rebel, I rebel" - get ready for the ultimate girrll powerrr story in which this Mary Sue scolds men not to hold her hand while she destroys her opposition easily with little training other than having a vagina. Sounds fun.

I should be more upset that the far left have ruined my favorite series of movies of all time, but I'm over it at this point. I'll never forget the feeling I had walking out of the theater after seeing The Feminist Awakens - it was the single most disappointing film I've ever seen considering the hype. The Rey character wasn't the only thing that ruined it, Cuck Abrams made sure to also affirmative action random minorities for no reason, rip off A New Hope scene-by-scene while also cramming in some awful comedy.

I expect this next offering will be just as bad, if not worse.

That's already happening. Not full length feature film, but not to distant future for sure. This is a particularly good one.

We need another "Escape from" movie, it's been too long.

I'm guessing that Disney isn't really banking on the " *** : A Star Wars Story" movies, just something to keep the franchise padded between the major movies. CGI is so cheap these days that it doesn't matter who they hire to direct them, so they'll probably be handing the story movies off to whoever. I bet the same is going to go for the main movies, just with slightly higher popularity directors, they aren't making money off of great star wars storytelling, it's just the name itself that will make them money, doesn't matter who they get to write/direct/cast in them, it will always make them money. People are paying to see jedi's and stormtroopers and aliens do stuff, that's it.

The Star Wars VII trailer ended up being better than the actual film.

If that same trend holds out for Rogue One, it's going to be a cinematic catastrophe.

The Rebels animated series is a better concept than this movie. Imagine if, instead of Girl Power McGee, you had Ahsoka Tano successfully leading the mission and it ended with her putting the information in R2 just as Vader hunts her down and kills her.

At that moment, Obi Wan feels her death via force stroke, then goes to check on Luke. As he's watching Luke from a distance, the force ghost of Qui-Gon appears telling him to get ready.

I just wanna see Snake Pliskin kicking ass and taking names again. Even if it's direct to video, I'd still watch it. Also, need a sequel to "Aliens", or at least in that timeframe, space marines vs aliens, not that horseshit from the AvP movies.

Star Wars was always aimed at kids. The only difference now is Disney doesn't care about little boys as consumers and wants little girls to grow up to be sour-faced, muff-licking business leaders who think they can 'have it all'.
