Do the numbers even add up for reincarnation...?

Keep in mind that a lot of people don't even have something resembling a soul and will after death just cease to exist, with none of the particles (kalapas) being left to be drawn to another life.
In the East, they are absolutely brutal and honest in their beliefs. They will not sugar coat anything to make everyone feel better like we have in the West.

Just imagine, will a psychopathic, without empathy serial killer even get to another planes of existence after his death? In his case karmic laws, which are again, completely non biased and brutal (and will kill a godlike being if it sins greatly) will completely disintegrate him, leaving nothing behind.
When they say that some killers will haunt some place after their death is bullshit, there is nothing left which can haunt.

There are a lot of possible answers explaining this:

1)There might be some variable time interval between reincarnation;
2)Reincarnation may not be subject to linear time rules at all;
3)Reincarnation to or back from animal forms;
4)Reincarnation to or from other planets;
5)Splitting or joining of souls.

If you are trying to apply Occam's Razor to these issues then it's best to suggest there is no such thing as afterlife at all.

But you didn't want to say this because you are a Christian. So this is a very dishonest thing from you to do considering how your faith comes up with a lot of additional explanation to make your version of afterlife look plausible - limbo, purgatory, double judgement system, one immediate another at last day - easier to say there is no heaven and hell at all.

Before arguing further on religious topics you need to develop integrity and intellectual honesty and do not apply harsher criteria for other faith's as you do for your own.

Relax Mage. Good that you got my point, but no need to fly off the handle.

You are writing like a triggered slushball.

I have nothing personal against you and don't really mind if you want to believe that in your next life you will come back as Richard Dawkins' Twitter account.

These are interesting issues to debate, and this is supposed to be fun.

So enough with the nitpicking.

Also you don't need an apostrophe in faiths when it is a simple plural noun.

When you have no counter-arguments you should better keep silent then just call the other debater triggered and no fun.

What you are doing now is using ad hominems to win by appearing more alpha and more income independent from the result of this debate.

I am sorry if my responses appear as personal attack's it's not meant that way. It's just that after I answer to some argument I see as wrong I also give my insight on why the other person probably came up with such an argument, what assumptions he must have had to come up with such a thing. You can take it for your own introspection or dismiss it or disagree with it, it's not meant to attack you.

RE: The Reincarnation Thread
My views on the mechanism of reincarnation come from a report called The Key, re-published in 2010. While in Toronto on a book tour in 1998, the author Whitley Strieber encountered an entity or being who engaged him in a conversation about the true nature of reality. I believe that this encounter did happen. I conclude that this little book should not be dismissed as a potboiler out of Strieber's imagination.

I have re-read The Key about 10 times now. I am convinced that it is a truthful report of a real conversation. If so, the Master of the Key engaged Strieber in the most important conversation I have ever read.

He described the soul as a radiant body, residing in an elemental one. When the elemental body can no longer support life, the radiant body either progresses, or recycles, or slowly dissolves into the universe. The Master of the Key prescribed meditation to ensure coherent survival of the radiant soul. So now I meditate. Here are a few quotes for the flavor:

"How does a person evolve this radiant body?" asked Whitley.
The imprinting of essence with experience requires effort and attention. It is the object of all paths and ways to higher consciousness. It is the object of real prayer. To begin, you must meditate. Who does not meditate, disintegrates.

"Any specific recommendations?"
Paying attention to physical sensation is paying attention to energetic sensation. Being awake to oneself and one's surroundings increases the intensity of the impressions so that they affect the spin of the electrons that are present in the nervous system. In this context, being awake means being aware of one's own self while at the same time absorbing impressions from the outside.

The increase in spin, and enrichment of the complexity of the pattern of being that results, bring more and more form to the radiant body. You will remember yourself after your death- who and what you were, why you existed, and what you intend for your future. You will, in short, acquire a true aim, and join the companions of God in their journey toward ecstatic and conscious union with one another and all that is

'"What about those who don't acquire this ethereal independence?""
After death you cannot be blind and therefore you cannot change. There, you wait.

"Wait for what?"
To understand that, you must first understand that the living and the dead share the same world. Your dead are not off somewhere in space. Their lives and beings are intertwined with yours. They see all that passes here, but can only affect it indirectly, if they can make themselves heard in the minds of the living.

However, you the living are changing now. As this change proceeds, you are better and better able to feel the presence of your dead. You will find your dead in the immediate surroundings of their lives, clinging to what they can of their memories, attempting to preserve their selves despite the magnetic attraction of what would envelop them.

"But what about people from the distant past? Surely they don't linger here."
There is no other place for you to linger. If you are not an independent being after death, you remain engaged in the life of the earth, awaiting your chance to recur and increase your being. Lives in elemental form change the patterns of the electrons that form the soul and intensify their spin. The great dead have lived lives consciously devoted to the evolution and growth of the radiant soul.

But most of you, in the state of death, bear only fragmentary bits of what you were in life. Simple patterns, weak spin, no clear form to the radiant body and no ability to maintain it. You are subject to a process of recurrence so powerful that there are none from the distant past, except the radiant.

"Can we be cured of our blindness?"
Let me offer you a picture of the universe as it really is. There are many thousands of worlds like this one, in varying states of development. Some are worse off than yours, others better. Some have even reached such ecstasy in the elemental body that they can enjoy congress across the reaches of space and time. In these worlds, the elemental body is radiant. The physics of material being for them is the same as the physics of energetic being. This is why, when they come among you, they may walk through walls, or fly, or disappear, or change form. But most beings in other worlds live and die confined to the planets of their origin, as you do.

Last I heard, The Key can be found on Kindle for $4.99, and some used copies were recently offered on Amazon for $2.00. The last printing was 2010. After 10 re-readings, I am starting to get the picture.

Stay away from Whitley Strieber and his (((aliens))), he is part of the globalist (((agenda)))

The only "aliens" he is meeting are evil demon entities, he talks to (and takes orders from) when smoking/ingesting the drug DMT or its equivalents.

Mercenary, I expected better of you. Strieber knows that he is a despised and discredited man. I endorsed his book despite that. You chose to attack Strieber without reading the book. How did your unrelated comments advance understanding the topic of this thread?

As you have not read The Key, what can you contribute to a discussion of it? I read it and re-read it, and I found the book compelling. It is not easy reading, the concepts and the cosmology were new to me and complicated. I am challenged by this book. Surely you have something positive to contribute to this thread?

RE: The Reincarnation Thread
To be honest, what you posted here sounds to me like the a bit of a twist on classical interpretation of Life from the East. Since I believe East knows pretty much everything in this regard, lets just say that The Key is a bit "better" information than what people in the West usually believe. But I would rather read buddhist Sutras for real deal information.
