So every time I go to use Uber, it tries to force me to use UberPool. I think to myself "Oh cool, I get to share the car with someone, save $3, and not be able to sit in the back and be a douche on my cellphone blabbing away, and the ride is going to be longer. Fuck that." So I pay the extra few bucks and never take it.

So... today I fucked up when I was punching in my stuff and apparently ended up selecting UberPool. To my chagrin, I was randomly paired with a hot chick who lives in my neighborhood. I jump into the car, blabbing away on my cellphone, take one look at her and say "who the fuck are you, and why are you in my Uber?", with a grin. "Oh, this is that pool shit." She responds, laughing: "if you Uber with me, it saves me a few bucks. I go to college around here and didn't feel like taking public transportation... what do you do?"

From there, we end up flirting the whole way home and I pull digits.

I'm thinking UberPool might be a good way to save money and meet chicks...

I use it all the time, I've gotten 3 numbers from it, one from a drunk girl at the end of the night and the other two were sober and on their way home from work or something, didn't really convert from any of them though. There have been times I go to an event or party in an uber pool and we pick up girls just going out, I'm tempted to try to have them come with me to the party some time or try to go into their apartment at the end of the night if they get dropped off first. Sometimes the drivers will act as a decent wingman.

Its actually pretty good if you're not in a rush to get to where you're going.

Definitely potential here, especially at night. Once the alcohol starts flowing I always do UberPool. I've had several nights where a buddy and I would head to the bars, get a UberPool, and two girls would be in the car waiting for us as we got picked up.

It doesn't get more convenient then that. Unless they're fat and then I just call shotgun.

Be careful with Uber pool.

Ivexhad some odd experiences with trannys andcgays late at night.

Also, remember, it can kind of take you out of your way and wind up costing more.

At least during the day, most Uberpools end up without any other person in the car, though the service is still quite new here.

I stopped driving Uber part time as Uberpool is a complete rip off for the driver.

I could see this working really well in crowded bar areas when everyone is looking for a cab.

So that is what that is. I always thought it was if Im riding with somebody and we both want to split the fare with my friend... I will try this out this weekend see if it works in my city.

These are the reasons I think it has potential...

1. You have a captive audience
2. Driver can be a good wingman
3. No competition
4. Can be used to run day game and night game (I used it yesterday to get to/from court and my house)
5. The app actually says who you're sharing the car with, so you know their name right off the bat

I'm going to experiment with it over the next few weeks.

A German friend got digits from a girl riding an Uberpool. The time I rode a Pool it was only with another guy and another with a cold girl. I guess it can be better sometimes but nothing that leads anyone to UberPool game.

This is the way I look at it - if I have to Uber somewhere anyway, might as well at least increase my potential prospects. I can ride alone, or potentially ride with some cute chicks. Considering how frequently I Uber, the numbers eventually have to work in my favor.

The worst that can happen is I get stuck on a 15 minute ride with some trannies or drunk college dudes.

I'm going to give this a try over the next few weeks and then write it up.

Update:

Used UberPOOL twice yesterday. Both times they weren't able to find another rider, so I ended up paying like $7 for both my rides, which would have cost me about $15.

If you use UberPOOL and they can't find another rider, apparently Uber eats the cost.

It kind of screws over the driver, so I'm a bit hesitant. I do believe hard working people deserve to be paid for their work.

Hey so wanted to comment on this thread. I drive for Uber part-time every once in a while.

The driver doesn't get screwed over if there are no other riders. Uber often subsidizes the ride and it might look like youre paying for a cheap ride. You can thank lyft for that.

Second, a lot of drivers hate Uberpool. Many will avoid it.

If taking a girl home for a bang, make sure you call Uber X. Some drivers will ride around in circles to avoid screwing up their cancellation rate or they might pick up the other passenger and drive them home.

I think its actually creating a negative experience and eventually theyll end pool.


Anyways, pool is catching on with college kids. I get a whole bunch of hot foreign Asian students, it maybe the best way to meet these chicks

I also drive for uber, I was under the impression that you got paid less, but looking at my pay statement, it's the same, at least for short drives (same minimum fare).

I have definitely noticed that the pool crowd is way younger than average. My last pool fare started talking about how she much she loves pool, she was actually on her way to meet a date who she'd met through pool and then matched with on Tinder. Then she went on about doing a pool ride at 4 AM back from her fuckbuddy's house and picking up another girl doing the same thing... it was pretty funny. She was quite proud of herself.

I'd say if you're going to order Uber alone, order a pool. All it can do is give you opportunities. I would not order Pool if I were with a woman.

No comment on Kona's "gays and trannies" thing. Haven't seen any of that myself, though as a driver, I typically don't drive after midnight. Too much weird shit happens and though fares run higher, it's not worth losing sleep in my opinion.

Yea I don't drive after midnight either so I haven't gotten any weirdos. I work during the day on the weekends mostly.

Last night though around 10:30, some guy actually asked me if he could drink beer in my car.

Also, for anyone interested, Uber has a thing now where you can "set your destination" as a driver. Its a nice way to get someone else to pay you to take you to where you want to go, though its not always perfect. Its nice way to save some money.

I've used uber pool only when I am bored with time to kill or have a really far distance to travel. I was apprehensive at first as I always meet some cool mofos driving and thought they were getting screwed over, but apparently not.

In terms of women, there are some cuties who will use pool. Most have been friendly. One guy was with his girl and they invited me out to party with them and their friends, but I had just flew back from Germany and was tired af. Definitely agree, don't use it if you are trying to take a girl home. Unless you are broke as fuck, then fuck it haha.

I don't know why it is, but Lyft is even better for that - at least in the San Francisco area. And it seemed to me the ones likely to use this feature were also less likely to be in committed relationships - obviously nothing scientific here, but a definite trend I've noticed. Maybe if they have a boyfriend they're more likely to ride with him or at least let him pay for their solo ride.

Lyft Line is the same idea as Uber Pool, but Lyft isn't as widespread so you may not get to try this. I generally prefer Lyft when there is a surge on Uber as the prices are a bit lower anyway.

When I use Uber Pool, I've often got paired with young business guys who happen to be in the same industry (yes, software), so that's also led to a couple of good contacts (to and from the airport, go figure).

If you are not in a super hurry either one is a good option.

Another reason not to rely on pool, just yesterday, there was a heavy amount of traffic and I cancelled on two pool customers because it would take me too much time to pick them up. Traffic is horrible for earnings if you have a customer who not surging. Im not sure how Uber makes out when that happens.

coverdoc, you're probably one of the few guys actually talking to other passengers. I'd say 95% of UberPool users don't actually talk to the other person in the car.

A few days ago, I picked up two foreign students, both very cute, after that, I picked up a guy, tall and very good looking, shouldn't have any problems with girls, but he elected to sit in the front seat for some reason and didn't say a word.

I've never used or driven for lyft so can't comment on that, but lyft doesn't have the same usage rate as Uber(uber is a far bigger company) and at least in my city, Uber is having problems actually filling demand for their service, so recently, they've been running promotions for drivers to get them on the road during peak times. There also running commercials practically all day on television here.

If you look at the people who were taxi drivers before Uber, it isnt like this was a job people wanted to do. Its still mostly immigrants.

I'd say it's about 50/50 in my experience. I've given a lot of pool rides to solo riders though, way less than half my pool rides have a 2nd pickup. That may just be my city or the times I usually drive (evenings)

In my area, Lyft seems to appeal to the older suburban crowd. I was driving in the 'burbs a few weeks ago and picked a very drunk older dude on Uber. He said almost everybody he knows uses Lyft but for some reason he picked up a lot of Uber credits so he was using those.

None of that is hard stats, just an observation.

I like Uber because I can set my own hours. I went hard this past weekend, made $550 for the weekend, worked out to about $28/hour before gas & maintenance costs.

Lyft has some deal where you can get a rental from Hertz for nothing, but you have to commit to giving 70 rides/week. That's a lot, it'd take about 30 hours to get that many rides. Still, something to think about. You get paid the same and don't put the wear & tear on your car.

As an experiment, I had to run out on an errand from work and took Uber Pool. First ride was with another guy, the 2nd had 2 lesbian chicks... meh.

I still like the idea of using pool as a way to potentially meet new chicks. It's like anything, sometimes it's just not going to work out.

It can put you in an easy situation to meet girls, obviously, but your passengers will vary. Another things is that if you're in a city you might end up going through the hood.

I used it when I visited Chicago one week. Some half latin half israeli ho (7.5 or so) was in the back seat with me. I chatted her up, and three days later I invited her over to my friend's house while he was gone and I had her suck my cock. Had he not come home so soon (and her over so late), I know I would have fucked her too.
