I'm a massive amusement park fan and always have been. I love roller coasters the most. To me, nothing screams summer more than a trip to an amusement park to ride roller coasters in 92 degree weather dripping sweat from the humidity. Oh and waiting in long lines with mister fans!

My favorite amusement park of all time is "Cedar Point" in Sandusky Ohio. This place is all about the coasters. Here's a pic of the place:



The large phallic ride is the Dragster. I've only been able to go on it once in my five times that i've been there as it tends to close down for a variety of reasons. The track is a maglev track that pushes the coaster up to 60 mph I believe. However my favorite ride at this park is the older Magnum coaster. The Millennium Force is alright, but there's something about the Magnum and its course along the lake that brings a smile to my face.

My next favorite amusement park would be Universal Studios in Orland Florida. This park is a direct rival to Disney world and to be honest is supremely better in terms of attractions. If Disney is meant for kids than Universal is meant for adults. The park has two distinct parks to it. Islands of Adventure and the Universal Studios movie theme park.

Islands of Adventure is pretty similar to Cedar Point with its amount of coasters. My favorite parts of the park are Harry Potter world and Jurassic Park. Jurassic Park has a lot of iconic things from the movies including those electric fences.

Universal has a lot of theme'd style rides. I'm old enough to remember the King Kong, Back to the Future rides, and the Nickelodeon experience before they closed them down and replaced them with the Mummy (still really awesome) and a Simpsons theme'd ride.

I rode the Mummy ride at least three times the last time I was there. This video doesn't do the ride justice as it had some crazy special effects baked in:





It seems the US is kingdom of amusement parks. Are there any others world wide worth visiting?

Canada's Wonderland is OK. I wouldn't visit just to see it, but one of their roller coasters is apparently the 8th tallest/8th fastest in the world, and they have some other solid rides as well.

No mention of Six Flags Magic Mountain? Dude if this place doesn't make you puke then nothing will

Scariest Roller coaster is the Cyclone in NYC(Brooklyn). Why? because it is made of rotting wood and feels like you are on a death trap each ride. I know 2 girls who had broken noses on it and I once had a bruise on my back the size of a golfball.

Have to agree with Veloce about magic mountain. There are so many great coasters there. He only downside is that the park is a total dump. It's so trashy but I guess that's the crowd you attract. Plus you get spoiled going no to Disneyland growin up where everything is clean and family friendly. As far as the LA area goes Knotts berry farm is worth a visit. I think their wooden roller coaster "Ghostrider" is supposed to be the longest on the west coast.
