Be careful in Chapinero, I always found it a bit sketchy. I had my cellphone taken in the transmilenio around there. Also a lot of my friends who study there have been robbed. One girl had an old lady attack her with a glass bottle. That being said there are some better areas, especially Chapinero Norte, but overall I'd be cautious especially at night.

As for your question I'd say if your Spanish level is zero then do the intensive, if you're already speaking a bit do the regular one.

Where in Chapinero will you be staying? I stayed at Living 55 while studying at Nueva Lengua and it was a bit of a walk everyday there and back but I didn't mind it too much because I'd just drink coffee and smoke darts on the way. Take the intensive and dance lessons, its not that much more anyway and the salsa skills will come in handy. Also, try to do all of the group activities that the school organizes, some are really fun like rafting and some are really rewarding like feeding kids at an orphanage in a shitty part of the city.

Road_Less_Taken - how did they proceed to take your phone in the bus ? I assume you don't have handbags lol, mine stay in my front pockets on my trousers.

My Spanish is decent and I want to improve it as much as I can.

My cell phone was in my front pocket. It was very crowded, I boarded the bus, someone pushed me a little abnormally hard, I was reaching for the rail so I took my hands away from my pockets. At the same time someone else must have taken my phone out. I put my hands down immediately but by then 10 seconds had passed and it was too late. I never actually felt or saw the guy who took it.

I realized a little after that the person who shoved me was also in it...these guys are slick. They rob for a living so naturally they are good at it. Best option is to just have a cheap burner phone, and not carry too much cash, cards exc.

In Pereira stay near the circunvular, the higher up the better, I forget the streets but near the Kolibri hostel is nice and farther down by parque Arboleda mall too, I wouldn't stay farther down past the McDonalds if you are new to Colombia. I stay a block away from Plaza de Libertad in a shitty little hotel that cost 50.000/night, there's lot of crack heads and hookers around there, I once got chased by a tranny hooker with a knife there with RVF member Atlantic and two of my buddies from home, that was a funny night, we still have a funny photo of us with the tranny before he/she went nuts.

I'm off to Medellin soon and want to know the best neighborhood to stay in. I speak conversational Spanish and am looking for a safe area with good logistics for nightlife but also daytime amenities such as shops and restaurants. I want to be around regular Colombians not gringos and elites. Feel free to pm me or post in this thread.

I'm not really understanding the question. You want to be safe in Medellin but don't want to see any gringos?

No gringos in Bello or Centro. Check those out pronto.

Here's perhaps a different take to consider... Go stay in one of those gringo areas for a couple of nights and let the expat gringos help you get oriented. Many of them know people with apartments for rent and have lots of information to share. I found those expats in Medellin to be pretty cool peeps, and they'll gladly help you.

Good but no so foreigner infested area: Laureles.
My personal advice if your Spanish is good: Robledo with an excellent view and a cool street food/activities scene. The better parts of Belen are worth it as well.

Took me 3-4 weeks to adjust my game for Colombian women.

Again, learn to dance and speak Spanish. It establishes way more confort and trust when you can hold a conversation in Spanish.

Don't hesitate to give a boyfriend vibe also.
I usually say that I'm here for 6 months and that I want to live here, which isn't true lol.

Colombianas will let you do all the job, but generally won't shut you down. The rewards are that once you have her, you own her !

depends what you want.. if you want more non-gringos and be able to day game/interact with more humble colombian girls, most of the younger Roosh members live in Laureles near Carrera 70, as close to the train stop, Estadio (the stadium giradot) as possible. I live about 2 blocks away.. easy for day game, meet up for dates.. and close to the mtro so you can go everywhere. There are plenty of places on airbnb..

many peole will reccomend Poblado... it's high class and very nice but isolated and you will end up hanging out in a place called parque lleras that is full of prostitutes and touristy stuff..

if youre for a while and want to meet up with some of the day game guys when you are here just mesage me we can grab a drink and i can put you in touch with the others as well

I'm in Medellin at the moment. My question is of a different nature as I am not a game guy because........I am extremely Espanol deficient. I find it challenging just shopping at the Exito store inside the mall, let alone knowing the true direction of a Carrera or Calle when I am looking for the comida I want by being vegetariana.

I am trying to learn enough spanish to flirt with these FINE mujeres over here for the time being. I regret being on GROUND ZERO with ZERO SPANISH.

I would like to know which part of the amazing country should I hit up next that is AfAm friendly with my espanol deficiency. I have ZERO salsa skills to add. I am already working on the language barrier and will work on gaining Salsa exposure as well. Right now, I am enjoying the feeling of literally being in A DIFFERENT WORLD from the States with all these BANGING MUJERES in sight. I like bikeriding but find it difficult being a tourist to obtain an Encicla card for the rideshare.

BTW, shoutout to RooshV. This site is BUENO for allowing perspectives from all over the globe.

I can't remember the name, but the gym you're talking about is legit. The free weights section isn't huge by any means, but it has a flat bench/incline bench/squat racks + plenty of dumbells. Perfeft for my routine. They also have Zumba/spin/etc classes that are no extra charge, i haven't done them but I have seen some cuties in there. A day pass is somewhere around 15 mil, around $5. Week pass is a better deal st 50 mil. I can't remember the monthly pass. I tried to barter on the price a bit but the girl behind the counter wasn't budging, and I couldn't find any deals on Groupon. It gets packed around 5-7 pm. Relatively light traffic when I'm in there early afternoon.

There is also a boxing gym on Séptima and...56-57 or so.


Quick Colombiana question. Should I next these girls as I normally would in the states. I have one in mind that has been super sweet but has bailed on two dates. That's enough for me to next a girl in the states. This Colombian guy I met told me to keep pursuing her, and the flakiness is normal. Keeping to push seem like weak frame to me.

As for flaking you should expect it and ignore it. I frequently get out girls and bang them that have flaked on me over 10+ times here. Just dont put too much effort into pursuing the girl but keep inviting her out.

i don't know anything about nueva lengua but Intensive courses are amazing. I took one at the University of Miami for a week a few years back and learned basic spanish in that one week. I took a few at the Univ. of Guadalajara as well...and i'm enrolled in an intensive Portuguese in PUC and one at FAAP in Sao Paulo this summer.. after i took the intensive course at UM and then lived in Bogota back in 2013 I started banging way hotter girls, dating hotter girls..and did way more fun things

Remember when you were in high school and had spanish class every day for like 2 years? did you learn anything? that was 40 weeks times 4 hours a week..some 150 hours more or less but you didn't get fluent... you just end up cramming for the tests and that's it. if you go intensive,, you learn it and then you're thrown into the wild and have tons of ammunition so you end up practicing it a lot more, and trying to correct yourself when you make errors

IMHO...any easy way to learn a language is to conceptualize a language in your brain, thinking ok here's 6 tenses, past, present, imperfect, future, subjunctive, etc.. here's my vocab, now i'l construct that together to communicate... you can't gain that all-encompassing conceptualization from a slow course (e.g. extensive)

the downsides of an Intensive course:
especially super-intensive (morning and afternoon classes)...you have a lot of homework and things to correct.. you don't get much sleep, sometimes a few hours a night if that...it's a lot to take in, you can't have a normal life during that course, going out , banging chicks, drinking.. good luck..

my personal reccomendation, do Level 1 spanish Super intensive (all day), do level 2 super intensive (this is imperfect and other tenses), once you get to level 3 and 4, like subjunctive, imperfect and future subjunctive go semi-Intensive (half-day courses) so you can chill out and enjoy your time a bit more because with basic vocab, and everything up to basic subjunctive (level 3) you're good to go, after that it's a law of diminishing returns when it comes to te value you can extract out of it.
