I had a terrible experience with a Uber driver while I was in Bogota. It started at about 12:30 am on a Tuesday morning. I was staying on Calle 87 near Zona Rosa. For some reason this didnt click in my head as a red flag. So we start the trip, and I quickly notice that he's staring at me in the rear view. A few minutes later he begins to send whatsapp voice messages to someone, telling where he was and where he was going. At this moment the "Robbed in Cali" thread immediately popped up in my head, and I'm extremely on guard. So we are driving towards the OXXO and we ride slowly past a parked motorcycle which begins to follows up. At this moment I tell him to Park in the nearest populated area with light, and I didnt leave his car until my new Uber had arrived.

I consider myself lucky that I wasnt drunk or It couldve been much worse. I never left my place with more than my Iphone and all the Pesos I needed for the night though. From now on I will be cautious with Ubers as well.

I mean, it seems that he immediately followed your order to go to a populated, lighted area. Interesting thing is, what would you have done in case he disobeyed?

But anyway, yes, any 2d-world taxi driver who starts telling his friends over the phone where he's heading at, I don't like it either, it is suspicious indeed.

For the first time in 4 years here, I got cockblocked by security guards last night. I just moved into a new studio apartment in an area with a portería and I brought a girl back with me around 1AM that I picked up at a bar. We got passed the security guard post without any problems and told them to have a good night. We proceed to my bedroom, turn on some music, crack another beer then I start hearing knocks on my door. I ignored them for a few minutes but they kept getting louder. So I open the door and there are 4 security officers standing out there insisting that I cannot have any female visitors in my apartment at these hours. Wtf? So we ended up going to a motel up the street but this situation has me heated. Has this happened to anyone else?

Is this a short term Airbnb or a longer term (30+ day) legit rental? Which city are you in?

That's fucked up. Sounds like they think they're the moral police and can fuck with you since you're a foreigner in their somewhat small town. If there's nothing in the lease that forbids guests, then slap them in the face with the papers next time and ask them to point out where the issue is or to call the cops or gtfo. The cops likely wouldn't even bother to come, but then again it is a smaller city than Bogota or Medellin. But either way there's literally nothing they should be able to do since it's not an illegal short term Airbnb rental or anything like that.

If you have a doorman, it's common that the girls might need to register and show their id or give their cedula number at the front desk though. But it shouldn't turn into a big ordeal.

For future reference and for anyone else out there doing rentals in apartments, you have to get in good with the door man and do it immediately. Talk to the guy a bit, bring him some empanadas or burgers and a cola once in awhile, if you're bringing back girls then grease him with 10.000 or 20.000, these amounts are really inconsequential and you should be able to avoid shitty situations like this. Remember, these guys are making like 5000 pesos an hour, they can be paid off easily enough.

Probably could have paid them off for less than it cost to rent a motel. I have never had a problem in the two apartments I'm in. The first place had female security guards I thought for sure they were going to cock block me after bringing different girls but they mind their own business. I've only had troubles with door guys in the US who get jealous that you have a revolving door of women.

Dude don't worry about shit like this, expect it! Colombians guys are all like this, its just how they are, they are programmed to hit on pussy all the time 24/7, they have no shame. Colombian girls are obviously aware of this, their dads, bros, uncles and grand daddies all do this, its just part of the culture, don't get offended. Seems weird to me. I must have rode at least half a dozen ubers in my week in Bogota and everyone of them just shut the fuck up and drove whether girls where in the car or not.

Yeah, totally agreed. In this situation it wasn't the music because I don't have a sound system in the house. We played it very quietly on the TV. Since I am pretty much stuck here for the next few months, I'm going to see what I can do. I've had conversations with every guard here, who are all interested in English classes and we are on good terms so IDK whats up with that. I'll go over there later this week and get the low down on everything because I've never encountered something like this before. Hopefully I can get something figured out without having to pay them off each time but if not, oh well... and there are tons of cheap motels near me.

1st week in Bogota:
Note: This is not an exciting read, but a journal of my first week in Bogota. Most of it is about online dates.

Prep: I pipelined 2 weeks before I came out online. I signed up for the site Columbia cupid. I sent out about 200 emails and within a couple of days I had received around 100 replies. This was pretty exciting! I wasn’t expecting this kind of action. When I arrive, I am set up in a pretty nice apartment from air nb within a short walk to Zona T. The first day I just get set up and relax.

Tuesday: On day 2, this cupid girl comes over to my apartment for my first date. She has a decent body and good style but her face is not very pretty. We cook and hang out. But, I think my questioning if she is hot enough causes me to hesitate to escalate and it doesn’t end up getting physical.

Wed: Day 3, I had 2 dates. One was going to arrive at 6 pm, and the other at 9 pm, but the first girl actually arrived at 7:30. We had coffee, and when the other girl texted me saying she was almost there, I decided to go for a pull with the first girl. I asked her if she wants to go back to my apartment and watch a movie and she agrees. Then I cancel the other date as we are walking out, and the other girl is at the mall somewhere. She was actually late, so it’s not really my fault that they are not arriving when the say This girl is more my type that the first. I do escalate over a few hours but no close.

Thurs And Friday: Thursday I take off. ON Friday, I have a 3 dates set up at Andino mall, again. I set these dates up at the food court (which is great) on the 4th floor. The girl arrives and I am having a coffee. We talk for a minute, and she wants to go downstairs for a coffee. I don’t argue. I follow her downstairs, and I point for her to go get a coffee. Although, I don’t think that following her was necessarily a good idea from a game perspective. She looks a like she wants me to go in line and buy her a coffee, but it was her idea to go downstairs. I was going to buy her dinner initially, if I liked her. She comes back with a coffee and looks a little upset. There is a date coming in another 30 minutes. I tell her she’s not my type of girl, so the date lasts only 5 minutes. I highly recommend double booking! It worked great for me. The 2nd girl showed up about an hour later, and luckily, she’s got a nice body, and very feminine. My type of girl. We have tacos, which were great at Sipote, which is like Chipotle. So it’s 10 pm on Friday and we decide to got to Zona T and have a few drinks at a bar. We are having fun, and at 12, I ask her if she wants to come to my apartment and she says yes. She is tired and has been drinking, and I don’t try and escalate too hard. She is sleeping in my bed but I don’t close. However, she did thank me for a great time the next day and sent another message apologizing for going to sleep…I had to cancel the 3rd date. I had another girl that was wanting to meet me at the mall on Friday as well at the end of the night at around 10 pm but since I was pulling, I told her I couldn’t meet.

Saturday is a day 2. She comes to my apartment and I cook lunch. I am getting kisses and some escalation from this girl as she is liking me. After lunch, we go visit a museum and hit the city to see some historic sites. It was alright. We come back to my apartment to rest. And Finally, I get my Colombian flag.

Sunday, I have 2 more dates. Again, I ended the first one after about 5 minutes. I was trying to eat my food and she was asking me interview questions after arriving late. I had waited all day to enjoy that meal and she showed up late right when I was eating. I tell her I have to go. The 2nd date was not very attractive but she’s nice so I hang out for a couple of hours. We go to the Bogota Beer Company for a beer. They have NFL games playing and good beer.

Total stats: 6 dates, 3 girls to my apartment, one close, and I flaked on 3 girls. I have not had any girls flake on me yet. They have been late, but no girl has no showed yet. Most of the girls are speaking broken English, and Google translate is helping a lot, because I do not speak Spanish. Resting now! Will Resume Wednesday. I still have about 60 emails to go through on my cupid account.

I want to day game next week and maybe hit some clubs and bars. If anyone wants to meet up I would probably be up for it. I am here for a couple of months.

Trying to decide between Bogota and Santo Domingo for an early November trip. I'm pretty sure cost would be close to the same consider flights are cheaper to DR but airbnb is cheaper in Bogota. The main thing I'm concerned with is the type of game needed in each city. From what I've read it seems in the DR most guys rely on big baller game, having an apartment with a pool, flashing wealth. Bogota seems significantly different, reading through the Linux thread, dudes are in modest apartments, taking chicks for $2 chickens and cheap coffee and then getting the bang. This is my first trip to LatAm so I'm also curious whether one is a better introductory city then the other. I'm 30, in great shape, dress game on point, minimal Spanish. I just want to hammer as many 7s as I can in 2 weeks.

It's annoying but that's just how it is in Colombia. The fact that a 5* dinner in colombia can cost less than drinks in a major US city makes it not much of a big deal. If you invite her out on a date you pay. If a $1-2 cup of coffee is a big deal then the best strategy is to only go on dates where you don't put yourself in a position to have to pay.

Spent 3 days in Bogota. I rented an apt 1 block away from 93 park. I like it.
The only problem I see is the wheather. Sometimes it rains a lot and is cold. But still had a good time. And the girls are super nice. Since today is Hallowen, all the girls are around T zone dressed very sexy (wonder woman, Lara Croft, Harley Queen)...

I am now visiting Cali for a few days. Great wheather so far. Went to Chipichape, but I'm tring to find now something else to do!
