Nancy Reagan, 1921-2016
They don't make women like Nancy Reagan anymore. She was born in 1921 and 40 years old before feminism took its roots in our culture. This is an image I won't forget:

A lot of guys on here are probably too young to remember that Nancy Reagan had a big hand in galvanizing the public about the drug war during the cocaine era. If she didn't say anything it might have gotten a lot worse in Miami before the government shut down most of the crazy shit going on there.

She had a huge role in creating the war on drugs and the skyrocketing of the non-violent prison population, and essentially started the for-profit prison industrial complex which has given the US the highest incarceration rate in the world. Fuck her.

Haha I was thinking to myself before I opened this, watch how many of you guys are gonna say great woman, RIP, etc... and others are gonna say fuck her. Didn't take too long I see.

I say great woman and RIP. Can only dream that if I get married my wife is as defensive of me as she was for her husband.

RE: Nancy Reagan, 1921-2016
She was at the forefront in pushing the War on Drugs and the nanny group MADD which was a front from Big Tabacco to get people smoking instead of drinking.

The War on Drugs has cost trillions, runied millions of men's lives via prison, and has laid waste to thousands in death. It led to a pipeline of drug smugle chains all over the globe, backed by Government, that has lead to bogus wars and armed forces lives lost and innocent civilians killed.

All deserve respct even they leave, but she has runied many lives to then now ask for celebration and the such.

You won't see crowds or parades to mourn her. How many Americans families have been runied by her intatives.

All due respect, that video is a fucking joke. Scorched earth and just a contrived hit piece.

Yeah, Reagan did arms for hostages and he wasn't perfect. He also did quite a bit of good including turning the economy around by lowering Carter's confiscatory rates and his policies quickened the end of the cold war.

Arms for hostages compared to the irreparable harm Obama's doing to the country is peanuts.

If there is a hell, nancy and ronald reagan are both in it.

She was saying "say no to drugs" whilst her husband was funneling it into the country. Evil.

fun fact, Ronald Reagan had his Director Federal Emergency Management draw up plans to put black people in concentration camps in the case of civil unrest

The name of the plan was National Survival - Racial Imperative , and can be viewed here https://pdf.yt/d/h7zSh86fNBKrtRJU.

I don't worship him like some and he definitely made mistakes. But the primary reasons conservatives look up to him are the following:

He proved lower tax rates stimulate economic, business and market growth. He lowered rates and there was an economic boom for years. It saved our economy and country from the utter malaise and failed democrat/liberal experiment that was the Carter administration.

He proved acquiescence to enemies hell bent on your destruction or hell bent on spreading their ideology doesn't work. They only understand superior strength and being called out. Referring to them as "the Evil Empire" and "bring this wall down" he set the frame of our strength and the USA's inevitable victory in the cold war. He ramped up our nuclear arsenal, then negotiating from a position of strength, brought the Soviets to the table.

End result, we won the cold war.

His SDI initiatives and arms buildup policies effectively bankrupted the Soviet economy because they tried to, but couldn't keep up, ending the cold war several years later. Many in former Soviet leadership have said as much.

Yes, the arms race of course also cost Americans in tax dollars but the alternative, at that time, was facing an expanding Soviet union and possible war. Some things are worth paying for and I'd argue the US got their money's worth on that one. I was alive then and remember what it was like.

Those are his two big accomplishments that are in line with "conservative" principles, if you want to call it that. That is, smaller government as evidenced by low tax rates and trusting businesses and the people to know what's best to do with their money, create more jobs and grow the economy and military strength and superiority wins. No pleading or trying to "understand" adversaries who have no interest in doing so.

In my mind he was the last great president America had. He was far from perfect and I agree that the war on drugs is a total disaster, much of which began in his presidency. The deficits that were amassed under Reagan were another point of failure. However, he did defeat the Soviet Union by projecting strength and backbone while at the same time, not committing US troops to a hot war. Much like Trump is trying to, he also brought back a lot of pride in America which was in a serious state of malaise after Jimmy Carter. The economy also went into hyperdrive while Reagan was president and that was due very much to his policies. The economy was a mess under Carter.

The 80s were truly the last great decade in America as a lot of guys here will tell you and its no coincidence that Reagan was the president during that time. The hatred Reagan gets from the left and the SJWs to this day, should tell you everything you need to know.

Nancy however, I was never a big fan of.

The reason that conservatives 'worship Reagan' is because before his campaign for President, many people felt like the country was in irreversible decline, that America’s time in the world was over, and that the sun was setting on the United States forever. People referred to what Reagan started as ‘morning in America’ at the time.

Don’t forget that in that era, nothing the United States did seemed to work out right. In the 1970s there was the energy crisis and oil embargo, July 1979 Carter made what is now called the Malaise Speech in which it seemed that America’s time in the world had come and gone, and now was in decline. This was after an almost decade long stagflation (high inflation and high unemployment at the same time, which was supposed to be impossible) plus interest rates where near an all time high with short term money market rates as high as 21%, and the economy was in ruins. On top of all of that, there was the Iran Hostage Crisis with the additional failure of the rescue mission, and the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in the late 1970s. To many at the time, it seemed like the United States was on its way out, Communism was on the march everywhere in the world and there was nothing that the United States could do to change things.

On top of that there was the whole dissatisfaction with government, especially after Watergate and the pardon of Richard Nixon; which followed the decade that had multiple assassinations of prominent figures in the 1960s (examples are: JFK, Martin Luther King, Robert Kennedy).

Agree or disagree, like or dislike, many people believe that Reagan rallied the country around his vision of ‘conservative values’, and a belief that the United States was morally right, even Blessed, and was able to get people to believe in what he believed the United States was and what it could be.

I think it had been almost 20 years prior to that, that any conservative was able to get the people to believe in anything and no conservative since seems to have been able to duplicate his success since with the voting public.

While Reagan’s administration had many problems, one if the biggest achievements that has was credited with, was the decision to support and supply the Mujahedeen in Afghanistan.

Reagan appeared to make his decision on a moral basis that to NOT oppose the Soviet invasion would have been morally wrong, and that because the United States was morally right, it should support the Mujahedeen with Stinger antiaircraft missiles so they could fight the Communists. Many within the government thought this was a mistake that it would lead to a larger direct conflict with the Soviet Union, run the risk of radicals using the missiles against the United States and even risk starting World War III.

In the end, it appears that Reagan made the right choice. By the end of the decade, the Soviet Union had to withdraw from Afghanistan after suffering large losses, and the Soviet Union itself broke apart, a process that started with its defeat in Afghanistan, ‘the graveyard of empires’.

That is why many conservatives ‘worship’ Reagan and many will make comparisons if a candidate is like or not like Ronald Reagan.

“On July 15, 1979, Carter gave a nationally-televised address in which he identified what he believed to be a "crisis of confidence" among the American people. This came to be known as his "malaise" speech, although Carter never used the word in the speech”
