Yeah, born in '94. I stayed outside most of the day. These days it'd be considered neglect to be left outside unsupervised.

I grew up in the 80's and early 90's and spent most of my time outside. The only rules we had as kids was that we had to be home when it got dark.

I was never a computer kid so none of that PC games shyte for me. Me and my friends would get in all kid of scrapes mostly cruising the streets on my BMX (with mag wheels!!). We would go fishing, climb trees, shoot air guns, all sorts of fun. I walked to school everyday from about the age of 10 onwards too.

You cant really compare generations, but I cant help that modern kids do miss out on childhood.

Born early 90s, suburbia. Never ventured out past the yard though I'd spend days at local pools/beaches during the summer. Visiting the kid 5 doors down took planning and my friend who was a 15 minute walk away, getting together was 'a hassle.' No traffic in this area either.

I don't regret it, my eyesight has always been terrible. I didn't have any idea at the time why, but I had no interest in being outdoors unnecessarily. Seems to be the norm here. I go on long walks, probably hit each street in a 2 mile radius and can easily go a day and not a single person on foot anywhere to be seen. I'd actually appreciate my indoor childhood had I actually learned anything from all the buisness sims I played.

RE: Did you play outside as a kid?
Born in the mid 80's here. I didn't spend a crazy amount of time outside doing sportsy stuff as a kid - I didn't get coordinated until I turned 13 and by that point was so far behind my peers that I didn't bother.

When I was 5 to 12 I spent alot of time outside playing games. My mom would kick us out and make us play and not let us get so much time on the SNES or Sega Genesis we had. By about 11 we got a new computer and I began to play games on it more and was outside less. Still though- went hiking/biking/rollerblading with friends around town all summer long. We didn't like to pay money for the bus so we'd ride 3-5k downtown to the movie theaters and that was just "normal".

By about 14/15 - yeah nope. I was inside on IRQ and chat programs talking to girls from australia and dealing with teeange angst and the existential dread that I sucked with girls and had no idea how to fix it. I also discovered porn by that point and my outside years were over.

I grew up in south Texas which is flat with a lot of land and plenty of young kids to go around. Most days from the fourth grade to the eighth we played football from about 4pm to sundown. On days off we would chop down mesquite trees to sell to people for bonfires and such. Owned horses and chased colts in the pasture when they got loose. Monday through Friday we would play football in the street before school. "Truck Zone" style, no brutal tackle in the street but the residential yards were fair game for any style of tackle. Knocking kids into pine bushes was routine. We took our bikes through the gumbo mud when it rained and kayaked through the floods. The beach was another story because there was nothing to break, just a trip to the third sandbar about a mile out and you were legit to the old timers. All in all it was a great life.

RE: Did you play outside as a kid?
Grew up in the early to mid 90's (born in 85)

We played a lot of football, rode bikes up and down the street, built treeforts, did paintball when we got a little older. There were video games too but we were usually outside.

we didn't really play actual football, we had a game called "smear the queer" where everyone tackles the guy with the ball and he tosses it up in the air for the next guy when he gets knocked down.

"In primitive times women clung to the strongest males for protection. They did not take any chances with a nobody, low-status male who did not have the means to house them, protect them, and feed them and their offspring. High-status males displayed their prowess through their kick-ass attitudes. They were not afraid to think for themselves and make their own decisions. They did not give a crap about what other people in the tribe thought. That kind of attitude is associated with the kind of men women find attractive. It may not be politically correct to say but who cares. It is common sense and it's true- and always will be."

As much soccer, swimming and biking around as my allergies would let me, during summer.
Winter was more about staying inside playing Nintendo, 'cause it was freezing cold.

RE: Did you play outside as a kid?
Every day. Usual routine was...I'd ride the cheese wagon home, eat a snack, and go outside until it was dark out and I had to report home for dinner. Riding bikes, playing in the woods, playing basketball, making fires, exploring houses that were under construction, whatever. I had a Sega Genesis, but didn't think much about it except on Friday night when I could invite a friend over, order Dominos, and rent Mortal Kombat Laugh. Oh and flashlight tag. Did you guys play this? Damn those were the days.

I still see kids outside when I visit home, but seems like they're just playing around outside their house, not running around buck wild in the neighborhood.

When I was 6 my parents kicked my out of house during day so I would play outside, because most neighbourhood kids were playing outside since age of 5.
