If legality is doubtful (I would suggest it is here in the UK) then you might as well carry the real thing. No point getting the same penalty for being half as effective.

I have a few reservations about the implement itself:

Firstly, two long spikes like that which are nearly as long as the part contained in the hand look to me like they could fuck up the point of impact/get caught in the clothing of a raised forearm etc and cause you to roll your wrist or break your fingers.

Secondly, focusing significant force from a full punch down onto the small bones of two fingers seems like a recipe for debilitating injury.

Thirdly, it doesn't look very effective as a stabbing weapon. If you want to stab someone, use a knife. If you want to do blunt force trauma, carry something more appropriate. This weapon is neither one thing nor the other, and in my experience when you use tools that don't really know what they are for, that's when you come unstuck. The proper tools for doing specific jobs effectively exist already. Decide how you will respond to attempts on your life and arm yourself accordingly.

Fourthly, for a weapon to have any value, no matter how Gucci it may appear, you need to be able to deploy it under stress. Unclipping a key chain is a fairly fine action - not really a gross motor skill. Plus the shape of the weapon means it could easily snag on the draw.

I live in Libtard Canada so if I hurt an intruder in my home I can go to jail, however my safety is of the utmost importance, so I keep a very sharp karambit under my pillow. I also have a US Marine Corps Kbar knife in my bedside table.

You can invest in better windows and a good door. Most of them can be open in a few seconds by a professional burglar. If you invest in protection there you gain some time. Even if it take a few minutes to break into your house, this time is too long for most burglars.
Next thing is the laws in your country, most lethal weapons will give you trouble later.

Imagine the situation you come home and there is an intruder in your home, did you carry your weapon with you or is it in your house? Or you are sleeping / drunk. For this you should place multiple weapons and several places in your home. The more distance you bring between you and the invader, the better. I would use short metal pipes. Place 40 - 50 cm metal pipes in some decent grapping distance in your home.

I am looking at getting a miniature schnauzer and a black german shepherd. The mini dog will alert the shepherd and the rest is history. Even though I live in a good neighbourhood, Calgary is having a sever fentanyl problem right now, so I want to be safe. I work out of town, but I want my tenant that rents a room to feel safe, and I do not want my house fucked with when I am away.

Roosh's questions boil down to "how can I stay safe at rental properties when I don't stay anywhere for more than a couple of months at a time?" Any solution for him must travel with him. A dog wouldn't work for him, as its tough to travel with and take care of...but is great if your lifestyle allows for it.

Some selection for stronger doors and not being on the ground floor is one thing, replacing the doors and windows is the other. Sounds like the best ideas here are for Roosh to proclaim his love for baseball as an American and get a bat, ball, and glove; after that, to become a hobbyist camper and get an ax and camping knife.

Solutions beyond that exist, such as fire extinguishers (for fire safety) and or big hammers (to hang a couple of pictures), but he would likely have to leave them behind every time he flies.

I was going to suggest a dog, or better, TWO dogs.

Two Rottweilers or Staffordshire Bull Terriers.

Both breeds are fantastic with kids, friends, their owner, even cats if they are in the household but will defend the alpha male (you) to the death.
Great pets, calm and soppy, like being stroked. Shame that Roosh can't take the dog option.

^I've seen a lot of different kind of these floating around. They're pretty much a low key knuckle duster. Can defiantly see them doing damage. Looks like it would be good for EDC but for home defense, I think something more heavy duty would be better.

This is about the third or fourth similarly related thread but here goes...

The number one strategy is to not be somewhere that you're likely to suffer a home invasion.
If you can't manage that for whatever reason then your number two strategy is to fortify your entrance points.
If you can't manage that for whatever reason (renting) then your number three strategy is to reinforce your entrance points in cheaper ways you can remove that leave little to no damage when moving house. In either case your reinforcements should not be obvious from the outside (appear weak where you are strong). This stuff is far, FAR more important than what you choose to arm yourself with when faced by a home invader, particularly because if the home invader is determined to get in then your fortifications will give you time to ready yourself and call the police.

But in the spirit of the thread the weapon you choose will depend to some degree on the layout of your house/apartment. Open living spaces will favour swinging weapons whereas people predicting they'll face an attacker in their hallway will fare better with spear-like weapons that can be deployed in a more forward stabbing motion.

In any case you might be called on later to explain why you had such a weapon handy. In Australia you would likely be charged or sued if you seriously injured a home invader with a baseball bat and had no provable explanation for why you had one handy. It would be seen as you having acquired a weapon rather than a sporting implement unless you in fact could show that you played baseball AND had retrieved it from a reasonable location (your sports bag in the closet) AFTER it became apparent that you had no means to avoid the conflict (such as leaving the premises) and AFTER it became apparent that you were in danger of being assaulted.

Ridiculous, but there it is. We have no castle laws here and there are other nations with similar legal stances. You might understand now that how you prevent entry is a far more important than how you face an intruder that's already inside. The longer it takes them to get in the more likely they are to call it a wash, particularly if you're on the other side of the door with a mag lite in one hand and a phone in the other.

On that note the large maglite is the gold standard for a believable tool that just happened to be handy when a home invader came knocking. If you get a variant with a high powered strobe function then so much the better, but keep in mind that home invaders don't often work alone so if they get in then you might still want to consider getting out. Remember that they readied themselves to kick your ass for the last half hour while you on the other hand are probably still looking for your pants and blinking your eyes back to life so the odds are not stacked in your favour just because you're awake, aware and somewhat prepared.

An alternative option is to acquire less than lethal tools of dubious legality, the principle being that you roust off the attackers without hospitalising them and report the attack to the police only as and where it doesn't incriminate you (if the police turn up and there's the unmistakeable stench of pepper spray then they're going to start asking some unpleasant questions).

And remember what Tyson said. Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. Ideally your defences at very least start when the billion candlepower sensor light loudly clicks on as the would-be attackers enter your yard, incidentally all but setting your across-the-road neighbour's curtains on fire.

A big bloody dog would be nice as well. The typical home invader that hears one of these guys on the other side of the door he's trying to force will start to lose a lot of his motivation to break through.
