Most women "looking for advice" are in reality looking for someone to validate their cosmic victimhood, because it's not really their fault, because it's never their fault. This behavioural trait isn't absent among men, but when we fail society cares not, while when women fail there is no shortage of comforting platitudes on offer from every vector.

Every guy knows that weddings are a stupid show that only women enjoy....and yet they go along for the ride.

Seriously, why does anyone get married?

"Emotional Labor" is going to be the next SJW buzzword. It will be the justification for getting money after a breakup, for suing employers for back-pay (all of the emotional work should have been compensated) and for pay increases (I'm really doing the work of 2).

Another fun comment:
Quote:My boyfriend does 50% of the housework... that he thinks needs doing. It's 25% of what I think needs doing. We don't live together and I want to wait until we are married to take that step; I don't care how he does things at his place.

I've told him about habits that bother me, and have asked he make changes. He often forgets, so I feel like I'm training him. On bad days, I might nag or resent.

Persistent tidying up after another grown human can create emotional repetitive strain injuries.

Either it's a dealbreaker or it's not. Pick one option.

Stop trying to marry slobs if you're a neat freak. Oh, what's that, he loves your cats and your 'bit of extra weight' and your shaved head and your Lindy West disease? Turns out you don't deserve a good man.

Also, don't bother ordering flowers. WEDDING CANCELLED.

"Give Your Money to Women"

http://www.vice.com/read/give-your-money...simple-284

Quote:When #GiveYourMoneyToWomen started surfacing on my social feeds last month, I thought it might have something to do with the way in which women are underpaid at the office. Brilliant, I thought, Give your money to women as a way of balancing out gender-based income inequality. But the idea behind the hashtag was even better than that: Women were banding together to demand payment for all the emotional work we do that goes completely unpaid—the exhausting work of being a tolerant, gentle, nurturing, listening woman in our relationships with men, at all times.

These are the girls behind it. Track them down and get your wallets ready:

Why do most people buy diamond rings? Diamonds are not rare and other gems/materials are actually worth what you pay for them. But then again, diamond rings are "traditional" and "just how its done."

I've always thought ruby rings were pretty cool.

The idea of eloping to Vegas has always appealed to me a lot more than a large traditional wedding.

Fuck that, if a woman truly loves me, she'll choose me over an expansive wedding.

That's the deal.

So far, no takers. Looks like I'm going to get stuck banging women half my age at age 40. I have no future to look forward to.

This was my case.

Me - Weddings are a waste of money. Couples spend 6+ months of planning and throw away thousands of $ just for a single day with a 30 min ceremony. If we want a strong marriage that lasts, we should be wise and use that time to prepare for learning how to make a marriage that can endure.
GF - Well for a girl it's definitely a temptation to have a nicer wedding than your friends. But I trust you and I feel that you are right.

RE: Nagging doesn't work: "What Happened When I Stopped Playing Secretary for My ...
Just a few personal observations on marriage:

- I come across the type of wife listed in this article on a regular basis (kids sports, kids school, neighborhood functions) these harpies aren't the norm but to some degree or another make up about 40 percent of married women in my area. Conversely the husbands play along - accepting the playful slap on the wrist or head, and the public rebukes

- Women in general - without proper boundaries will naturally drift into this type of behavior via the hive mind (explanations on this can be found elsewhere)

- Why the hell did I get married? The best reasons for getting married are - children, good partner, regular vacation and activity companion, status at work and in community. Anyone who thinks their sex life will improve being married is wrong. Anyone who thinks they will save money being married is half wrong (it can lead to savings but often doesn't). Anyone who thinks that marriage is about love is wrong.

Marriage is a business or institution that CAN greatly benefit both parties and often does with better health, emotional and financial outcomes (never mind the genetic legacy). It also benefits extended families; ensuring responsible transfer of inheritance to hopefully stable households and genetic heirs. But for God's sake, it's not about love.

I had written a response to this thread but wasn't sure it truly added to the conversation and never posted it.

The basic idea was that "emotional labor" seemed to be an apparently new term created in an effort to reframe the conversation in such a way as to pat women on the back for achieving basic relationship/parenting responsibilities, or credit them for relationship 'contributions' that only they value.

This addresses exactly what I used as an example - housework and how research has shown women often nag men they perceive to be contributing less simply because men place different values on the effort and outcomes. The exact analogy I had used was a man perfectly content with dropping the duvet cover on the bed while his wife insists it be properly tucked to her specifications. Of course, "if you want it done differently, do it yourself" would be met with shrieking.

I wait with bated breath for Men's Rights Activists to suggest an alternative concept, "labor labor" in which men are praised for physical work like landscaping or maintaining cars, and every other contribution these harpies seem not to acknowledge.

And in fairness, there are absolutely men out there so hapless as to drive their (career striving shrew) wives to frustration. I blame (in equal parts) the man for failing to be a man, and the woman for having successfully driven away any man put-together enough to meet her demands who just so happens to be put-together enough not to tolerate her demands. A match made in heaven.

As for the rest of the comment thread, if this shrill scolding before the nuptials have even taken place isn't enough reason to question the marriage, their husbands to be deserve their fates.

Oh no. That would take the fun of complaining ot of the marriage. The only kind of fun both of them seem to be having.

Seems like the only reason these women get married is to force someone to constantly listen to their bullshit, seeing as past boyfriends/parents/siblings aren't willing to partake in the haranguing.

This is why spanking the wife is necessary.

There are some good comments on that article

Quote:Why is it that the feminist ideal of gender equality means both partners working as long and hard outside the house as the breadwinner in a one working parent family, with the housework and childcare standards of a family with a stay at home parent?

Quote:In any negotiated settlement between two parties with different interests, there must be a deal that meets somewhere in the middle. If that is not acceptable to you, then there is no deal or even a dissolution of the relationship.

Why do women never praise men for all the emotional labour we put into not banging other women (or not letting them find out)?

The length of a marriage is inversely proportional to the amount of money spent on the wedding.

It's not only that, it's his haircut as well. It looks like someone glued a rag mop on top of his head.

What is it with all these boys with fag haircuts nowadays? I see them all the time on the streets. It's as if their parents want to turn them into girls from a young age. When I was a small kid the majority of boys in school had haircuts like Arnie in The Predator:
