Hi All,

We all have girls who just hug us randomly for no reason when saying 'hi'. Is this a kind of shit test from them to see if the guy can make the first move? How exactly should the return hug be done if she is reasonably attractive without looking sleazy but rather giving the impression of being confident in getting physical?

Things like an ass squeeze have been mentioned in this forum but would this be crossing the line?

You're overthinking this.

In the US and some other countries, girls often hug one another and men as forms of greeting. May vary depending on culture and how familiar you and the girl are.

In France, say, in Paris, the common greeting between men and women is two kisses on the cheek. But no one would have you believe such a greeting stems for sexual interest (except maybe people not used that greeting).

Just hug the girl as normal. I'd avoid the ass squeeze unless you know the girl intimately or want a suddenly more interesting day.

Chicks hugging guys/girls is a pretty common greeting gesture in Australia and is a poor indicator of interest in our culture.

Give her a big, reasonably tight hug (i.e proper hug) with a little bit of force. If you like, you can slowly rub her back with one or both your hands while the two of you are embraced.

Agree with overthinking.

Guys kisses on the cheek in Argentina when greeting.

Guys hug guys in the US too dude. It's not that uncommon between really good friends who might not have seen each other in while.

Whatever you do, I wouldn't shake hands or wave, that might even be awkward for a girl your dating.

No, many girls will just hug. It's just them being affectionate, which they often are with others. My cousin started air kissing after she returned from her study abroad program in the 2000's. To each his, or her, own.

The only time a hug is sexual and expressing interest is when in a group setting she gets up, comes over to where you are a fair distance a way, gives a tight hug with her pushing her crotch in towards you/tits squeezing into your chest, and has a hand on the back of your neck.

In any other case no game unless you're heading in a completely different direction and she doesn't want to leave unless she gives you a hug like the above. Most hugs tend to be friendly.

Thing is some girls give hugs to particular guy(s) in a group even though she knows them all. Still figuring out this kind of selective behaviour. Maybe its to set the hamster spinning in the guy's head?

BassPlaya Yo, has a good point you should pay attention to.

I was talking to this girl at work one day, we were both new to the company but work in different departments. we had a good conversation going, wasn't thinking of trying to hook up with her, we exchange names and after that we we see each other in passing and she would say my name in a really sexy way with that look. I end up working near her about two weeks later and as I get ready to leave, she says " where's my hug" I smile and say I give tight hugs and she lets out this moan when I'm hugging her. I'm thinking to myself, I got this one.

Another girl at work, I've had my eye on for awhile, really nice, attractive and smart, we don't see each other daily either, but one day we saw each other after awhile and it was kinda like a magnet, she just came into me with a side hug, from then on that's how it's been, so a few days ago, she asks me how my valentines day was? I said , I don't have a valentines, so it was non-eventful, I asked her the same and she said she didn't have one either, A few days past and I see her again and she's talking about how busy she is with school , work, etc; and I say too busy to go out with me and she says you know what I said about valentines day, I'm actually trying to end this 10 year relationship and he doesn't want it to end, etc; so she told me no on going out right then but she proceeds to go out of her way to come visit me and talk through out the day the next two days.

So, I'm thinking this kinda friendly hug and her actions are going to move to the next phase when she's ready, i agve her my number, so let's see what she does next.

Case in point, If a girl is not slightly interested in you, she's not going to touch you.

There's actually been a bit of science on this issue. The perfect hug last 3s no more, so I'll deliberately count 3 as I hug a girl to make sure that the ones that want me both know and hear I give great hugs. If you really like a chick and she hugs you hold for the three, put your hands on her two shoulders and say 'wow, that was a great hug' works a charm.

Unless she's married or family, I prefer them all to know I'm confident and sleazy. To ride on the coat tail of delicioustacos' owning of "creepy", I'll be the sleaziest she's ever seen and not give a fuck. And she'll love the way I do it.

When I meet a new girl for the first time and they try to shake my hand I just say "are we business partners?" And gesture a hug. Works most of the time.

Give her a real big fucking hug. Like a bear hug.

If she likes it and compliments your hug, you're doing well. I've literally had girls compliment me endlessly over giving them a good hug. One, it's a show of literal strength, two- it exudes confidence and three- she gets to touch you and she likes that experience. You can build a lot off a good hug

If she is repulsed, take a hint.

Edit: I do realize how gay the above sounds, but until you've tried it, don't knock it.

I didnt quite expect a hug especially in a social situation. So, my hug probably came off as not so confident and skimpy. Probably turned her off.

Lesson learnt though.
