Pairing Brogues with Jeans confuse me.

What colour jeans can I get away with while wearing these?;



I've worn them with light so far, but am wondering how dark I can go? Also, do I absolutely have to have the jeans turned up? Can I get away with just straight leg jeans paired with these brogues?

I'm specifically talking about Jeans and Brogues here, not trousers.

Not ideal, denim goes with boots more since they are both "working-class" or less formal.

^^ I've got some nice mid-brown brouges that are ok with dark jeans but only if the rest of the outfit is less casual. I'd wear a sportscoat and collared shirt if I paired brogues with dark jeans.

Easier to pair jeans with something like boots, split-toes, chunky suede shoes, since all of those are more casual.

I have a pair of light brown/tan brogues (see this post) That I wear with dark blue jeans every week multiple times a week. They look great.

Sure you can get away. Just take this notes:

- Always dark blue jeans
- Never rolled sheath
- Don't go for straight fit because it will cover the upper surface of the shoe, that looks bad.
- The shoe has to be seen, not covered, so the pants sheath need to have the right size in terms of lenght (around your ankle), and a bit tight in there (perhaps maximum two fingers of clearance).

Maybe you’ll feel uncomfortable the first few times you wear a leather jacket or a fedora or a pink shirt, whatever, but you will quickly gain confidence when you realize that NOBODY cares what you’re wearing. The initial comments from your buddies will die out quickly. Eventually you have to develop and *own* your style but it may take some time. A nice trick is to start by wearing things at home to get used to it, if you are not confident. You will also find out that some things are definitely not for you.

Thanks for the report on Noir Anthracite, I’ll look into it. I have a few TF:

- Amber Absolute, my favorite. Pure amber scent.
- Tobacco Vanille: very very sweet.
- Tuscan Leather: girls find it mysterious and attractive but I have mixed feelings about the raspberry scent
- Italian Cypress: very nice woody scent but not the one I’d wear on a date
- Tobacco Oud: smells of alcohol and tobacco, interesting
- Oud Wood: popular but not very masculine in my view

On a first date I would probably choose Tobacco Vanille to build comfort, or Tuscan Leather to be mysterious. The problem is that they are not suitable for the office.

My ex worked in fashion and started to buy me shit. Her reason was that I dressed like shit, in reality I just bought cheap shit. I felt weird wearing stuff someone else picked for me but it got me positive responses from people including the bartenders and waiters where I'm already a regular. If you change stuff but people like it, you will feel confident.

The only thing that really bothers me is having an inauthentic personality, can't stand trying to be someone I'm not.

I heard Fucking Faboulous is overrated. Have you tried it brahsef? Thanks for the reviews, will buy some of the ones you recommended in a bit.

Just before washing my clothes i smelled my sweatshirt with Anti and it's still lingering a week after I sprayed it.

In an ironic way, it's not suited for an office but I'm sure if someone tried it it'll pull bitches at work. Can't test that since I work with a bunch of guys and the only female is a chubby gate guard from Kansas.

Buy it on ebay, wait for a 10-20% off coupon. Actually Google express offers 20% off your first order. I bought Anti from Google Express and the others from Ebay when they had a 15% off your entire order a few days ago. I just go for the 3.4 oz since the 1.7 is only a bit (30-40 cheaper)...it's easier to pay a small difference and get way more volume.

Tweed is great, just make sure to wear it well and not look like some old HS math teacher

You can get some nice vintage Tweed coats on eBay. Just make sure to get your measurements right and match them against the jacket. Look for a 100% return policy too. I've own 3 Tweed sportcoats and they are warm enough down to the 40s if you layer with a sweater/scarf. I recommend grey/brown/navy as colors to start with. I think brown is very versatile.

Make sure to smoke a cigar while wearing one to properly "break it in".

Tobacco Vanille is my favorite. Helps I also reek of Tobacco 24/7.

I'm gonna go against the grain here and say that particular tweed piece is pretty bad style for a young guy (unless you're tryng to be an ironic hipster caricature).

Since there are so many different blazers or sportcoats you could wear, it's important to think about what image you're trying to give off, and what makes you identify with certain pieces.

It would look incongruent on the vast majority of young men, if not tone deaf in the first place.

Made the mistake of heading to salsa class with it where I always easily pass for an undergrad student. Everyone assumed I was the teacher and even asked me how to register for class! After the 4th time I had to say it “was it because of my jacket?” and they did say yeah.

Now that blazer is sitting safely in my “office only” clothes. Shame though, tweed is so freaking warm. It's just impossible to look young and cool with it. If you are shooting for the old wise guy with style look, maybe?

@tweed jacket. I think it depends what you wear it with. If you combine with the classic chinos, plaid shirt and brown shoes then you will almost certainly look like a geography teacher.

I often wear mine with ripped jeans and chunky boots. I've even taken to wearing it with a zipped-up brown leather jacket under now its colder weather. I'm not a young guy but I don't think the tweed is making me look my age or older in those combinations. I hope not anyway

For casual wear, I suggest a tailored cotton jacket rather than tweed. Cotton is more casual than wool and gets a nice shine after some time. Ideal with jeans (but cotton is normally not suitable for business)

Fake it till you make it. I consider my game level very good but even today when I buy a new shirt or suit I still fill a bit uncomfortable at first. Its a normal process you gotta go through.

I always avoided TF for some reasons... unknown to myself! I will change that after reading this thread.

At the moment I wear YSL Body Kouros (the old version, a bit hard to find). Masculine and warm scent for the winter. Also I have Chanel Egoiste Platinum, more fresh but very masculine, usually for summer but some still prefer during winter also.

Tweed is not just a 40 year old look. I know younger guys who rock a Tweed jacket and they don't look like they are in their 40s.
