Hey guys, I found some nice boots but they’re waxed suede. I never bought anything similar, would they be a good choice for winter?

It's priced that way because the link is to Grailed - it's a second hand item in good condition. I would never pay US$600 for it, but at US$120 + shipping, it's not bad. If you don't like it, return it... If you don't like the buttons, get them replaced for like US$20. But if you think it's a "maladroit mélange", well, not much we can do about that.

For sure - most outdoors/hiking/hunting boots are made of suede/nubuck-type leather. Good waterproofing properties, jut be sure to care for them as the care for those kinds of leathers are different than smooth leather. Will need to be washed with specific suede/nubuck soap, and you will need to re-apply the waterproof coating after so many wears.

I feel like winter is the hardest season to dress well if you are form over function like me.

I only wear form-fitting stuff and have an ancestral hate for anything even remotely boxy. And during winter everyone basically look like a box walking around with their sweater. Black/gray boxes since Im in France and it's fucking depressing.

Uniqlo has some slight sale on their Heat Tech stuff so I picked up a couple of long-sleeve Vnecks, since my friends swear by them. I dont like Japanese clothes for their soy reputation and higher price but this time Im actually pleasantly surprised.



The cut is rather form fitting more than the image tell, even though the waist are still too loose for my liking. The V-cut is perfectly on point, it would be invisible under a dress shirt. The material feels really nice and soft, unlike merino wool which is the best but hard to wear as base layer because it pricks the skin.

Put one on as base layer, then put back all my clothes and walk around the store a bit. It got so hot I was sweating, vs before when it was just not-cold.

Anyone has other recommendation? Good fit and looks are very important to me. Other company make good thermal clothing for skiing but its 100% function and look like trash, I wouldnt be caught dead wearing that unless its an invisible layer.

Looking for some opinions on general use footwear. I am shooting off in January indefinitely and I only ever take one bag with me. So that means a single pair of footwear. It needs to be something that is suitable for sports, but also decent enough for going out.

I'm a big fan of oversized knit cardigans, it's just tough to wear them without looking like a soft faggot. I think I wear them well, but you gotta be careful not rock one that looks like a granny sweater. It can be eccentric and unique enough to catch eyes, especially if you wear it masculinely.

^^ nah, I would wear them if I was taller. Again, style is a matter of attitude and peacocking is still a legit techniques for night game. You just gotta own it.

Get a silver bomber to go with those. I wore something similar in my night gaming days and it worked. Much better than all the tailored blazers I have now that my tastes have evolved.

Dont wear those for anything other than nightclub though.

Confused and worried that parts of my body could randomly shrink like this.

I have had the exact same thing happen over the past 4 months or so. Shoes that used to fit well before are now uncomfortable and slip when I wear them.

I would definitely be interested in others' thoughts on this myself.

I had a pair of boots like that in high school when I hung out with the goth kids. Nowadays I wouldn't have the balls to wear those kind of boots out.

There is an instinct to shop by thinking of each item in isolation, and to think how interesting and "special" they are based on a photo.

The problem is each part of style, like these boots, is part of the overall "look" we have once we are seen by another, and the boots (which were cool by themselves on the shelf) will just stick out funny, clashing not only with the rest of the clothes we have, but in the environment as well (day vs night, formal vs informal).

So in practice those boots don't work, and it isn't even because they are bad by themselves. The same goes for all the "cool" stuff, it needs to pass muster as part of the whole look.

This is why the military (Marine Corps Color Guard anyone?) uniforms make men look better, the options are limited and designed to fit in together by regulation.

Those boots are good as long as they match who or what you are. If they don’t fit, something won’t compute and chicks smell that shit a mile off. They especially notice shoes.
