I have an opportunity to live and work in Madrid, Spain or a 2nd tier city in Taiwan. I could also stay where I am in the States where I have a good life with lots of great outdoor options and American women, ugh. In all three places my disposable income would be almost identical. So I would be relatively richer in Spain and Taiwan but in the states I get much better retirement benefits. I like Spanish women and Asian women way better than American slags. Also, I am tall and handsome which seems to play better in Spain and Asia than in my part of the states which is full of tall, handsome guys.

I would go to either Taiwan or Spain. Not worth staying in the USA just for the retirement benefits when you could be enjoying young nubile women at a young age. Plus the cost of living is lower there, so you can save for your own retirement.

^^ One thing about the states is I'm having a good run right now of young, hot Americans. I wonder how long it can last though.

I also have an old yet hot "girl friend" in Madrid which kind of complicates moving there.

Having said that, most American women annoy the ffffff out of me and the consumerist/corporate culture of the states annoys me a good percent of the time too.

If you have yellow fever, go to Taiwan. But I would choose Spain since you get lots of tourist going there. Also saying to girls that u live in Madrid is a huge DHV

Do you know exactly where in Spain? If it is a 2nd tier student city then go there.

Why definitely Taiwan? You have to be into Taiwanese girls then. Why would you recommend a 2nd tier student city in Spain?

Madrid is better than many 2nd or 3rd tier cities in Spain man. Although at least Valencia and Granada are good, no experience in Malaga and Seville. But the topic lists only Madrid as an option and I consider it a pretty good option.

Madrid sucks. Oversized and overpriced. I agree, the smaller cities in Spain are where it's at. Granada has a huge student population and great nightlife. Lots of options to socialize. Lots of exchange students. Great weather.

What exactly does 2nd tier mean in Taiwan? Anything outside Taipei? If you can't speak Chinese then not worth it IMO.

Southern and Southeastern (down from Valencia) 2nd tier Spain is better than Madrid, generally, but 2nd tier west, north and east of Madrid is worse than Madrid, is what I believe.

I mostly agree with this statement, women in the north and west of Spain tend to be less feminine, not as pretty and more feminist. There are exceptions though like Leon. There are a lot of sweet University girls there who aren't used to seeing foreigners and it is a very nice, livable city.

To clear things up, I would be in Madrid even though my preference would be Cadiz or Granada.

If it's the same pay for both Taiwan and Spain, then consider cost of living.
You'd be able to set much more aside for savings, investment, or business capital in Taiwan.
The women would also require less game than in Spain.

However, there's also lifestyle to think about.
If you don't like humidity, you won't like Taiwan.
If you like pedestrian streets, dry air, pleasant architecture, good wine at good prices, and boutique cafés, Spain has them.

Taiwan doesn't have many buildings over a hundred years old, and has cities built for cars. The most pleasant areas are streets of two-storey shophouses, but those are rare. I hear they have decent whisky, but I haven't tried it; otherwise you'd be left with local lager, imported alcohol, and going to Starbucks.

Im born and raised in Madrid so what can i say. Madrid is beautifull city with great architecture, museums, nightlife and nice weather. Also is not as expensive as many other european cities(excep of course east europe). If you want to enjoy food, wine, habanos and all the good things in life is one of the best cities i can imagine to live long term and I spend most of my time here. But here it comes the but, i never been in taiwan but i have some experience traveling to east europe and colombia for business reasons and if you compare the girls in Madrid with the girls in Romania, Ukraine or Colombia they are way less hot and way more overvalued. Also as a foreign here you will not have a big exotic value since is full of people from all countries. Tall handsome guys dont impress that much here im 6,5 myself and that dont give a super status in Colombia thats a big plus and i imagine in taiwan too. Said this if you finally decide to move to Madrid ill be pleased to show you a couple of spots here until you are setled and you know your best spots.

Funny that you say this as on my only night out in Leon I kissed intensely with a 17 year old girl in a club, you are more 'exotic' there than in Salamanca or Seville I suppose.

Depends though. What do you mean by "2nd tier"? I heard that beyond Taipei, Kahsiung is doable but anywhere else will be difficult and boring.

As someone that has spent a lot of time in Taiwan, I would recommend it highly for someone looking for a good place to have a nice holiday. It is quite easy to pull decent-looking girls if you are handsome, and we benefit from our differing tastes in women compared to the local men. Also, the foreigners there are mostly bums 'learning Chinese' - very few professional types, so you can walk into town with your legitimate job and make quite an impression.

However, for living it is completely a different story. The working environment is not the same as the U.S. and definitely not similar to Madrid at all. Since this is a work trip and not a sex trip, I would strongly research the work culture for your Taiwan office and see if it is what you are interested in.

I can't comment on Madrid, but it seems to me that Taiwan would be the worst professional choice, even if it will lead to the most lays. It is very easy to bed Taiwanese women in the U.S. and even easier to bed Chinese.

Madrid is a below average first tier city for European standards, would definitely skip that and choose a second tier Spanish city.

I'd choose Madrid due to the proximity of other European cities and if you wanted to you could easily go to them on the weekend or a 3-4 day trip.

Thanks for all the advise. I did not end up getting the job I interviewed for in Madrid and have decided against Taiwan even though I was offered the job there. I am used to living in a very beautiful place and the 2nd tier city in Taiwan seems so ugly and polluted, I think I might have gone a little stir crazy. Also, I am 99.9% sure that in my field, I can find a better, more lucrative opportunity in a more appealing city. I am overall pretty happy where I am so will stay put until I find the right fit.

I'm still interested in checking out Taipei for this nightlife. It sounds like a lot of fun. I think if the opportunity had been in Taipei, and a little more lucrative, I would have done it.

Good. I'd advise against anywhere in Spain due to that country's absolutely horrid economic outlook: they're headed towards a sovereign debt crisis that makes the USA look like Apple by comparison. It's so bad that in some places farmers are having problems with raids on their crops.

Regarding the OP's original question, I was going to say that you should set up an Excel spreadsheet and compare both locations to each other regarding income, cost of living, tax, quality of life etc to see which one is the better choice, but it looks like you've already made a decision.

About the nightlife in Taipei - there are always pretty cool events happening and you'll see a lot of good quality girls out and about. However, there are also a lot of foreigners who go clubbing in Taipei so there definitely won't be any exotic factor to your advantage. Also, Luxy, where I had the most success with girls, closed down last year (apparently there is a new club operating where it used to be). Overall, I think the nightlife is pretty good and worth checking out.

Stop thinking, get on a plane to Spain. Depending on your starting level of Spanish and social skills, it should take no more than a year to be close to native level fluency and to have a good roster of real friendships with native Spaniards. You will never be able to really become a part of the culture in Taiwan, you will be stuck in the role of stupid foreigner. Good for laughs and for banging 7s, not good for long term living or accessing top shelf talent.

I fucking love it here in Spain.

Madrid is cool, but come live in Seville if you can. PM me if you make it and I'll show you around.

My ranking of Spanish cities for overall quality of life (including pussy as an important factor).

1. Seville
2. Valencia
3. Barcelona
4. Madrid
5. Granada (cool place, but loses points for being kind of small and lacking in culture/entertainment compared to the major cities)
