I was having a chat today with a forum member on whatsapp, and I was basically saying how it was weird how kids used to be against the establishment: Rock n Roll in the 50s and onwards, heavy metal, gangsta rap...etc. Now (I think due to things like facebook) they are one with the establishment. It's really sad. I think Eminem was the last person who said "Fuck off" to the PC mainstream and kids loved it. That was 1999, 17 years ago (!).

Now they think Macklemore is cool and edgy because he bigs up progressive stuff, and as such, is completely establishment-approved.

It's such a large culture shift it's worthy of a proper essay.

Man, this is so true! It's no coincidence that comedians no longer perform in colleges. But it's growing out from there, too. Most people, in general, no longer believe anything that is not somehow government approved/sanctioned. If an massive investigative report a la 'Deepthroat' were released today, most people who chalk it up to conspiracy theory as long as the government denied it.

Not to mention, that nobody is taken to task for blatant lies, it's a widely-accepted, necessary tactic in 'the war of terror' for 'the safeguarding of information', for 'national security'. I've gone on enough...

Good idea with the essay.

Thanks for the props, but I reckon I'd leave it to one of the better social-critics on here to do it than myself! It is something that has 'concerned' me for a while though. It's absolutely remarkable in terms of the speed of cultural change - solely down to social media and so on I reckon.

Remember when the kids were on his side?: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/1153810.stm

If you've never met a forum member - I'll assume you're lying

That explains how fast the news about Roosh and the meetups spread this week around the globe.

The day of the meetup I was pulled over by the police, then let go. Without explanation. I figured it might be Five-eyes type of activity in relation to our meetups.

The fact that RoK was discussed for 26 minutes in Britain's Parliament ups the odds of five-eyes involvement.
