Wink HEADS UP: Anonymous wants the forum email list
They want the list of emails to all registered users. There is active chatter on Twitter right now to hack the forum.

1. Do a google search on your existing email and make sure it's clean. If not, get a burner email and change to that IMMEDIATELY.
2. Delete any PMs that identifies you using last name or phone number.

/thread-50232.html

Assume right now that the forum database will be made public this evening. These guys can hack governments so if they want to hack us, they can. Assume it will happen.

I made the forum private to non-users. I'll keep this in place for a few hours until chatter dies down.

Can we keep the forum private until after the meet up? That would greatly impede their ability to collect intel on us.

I'm not sure yet, but just keep it mind this forum isn't "private". It will be public soon. Assume it's still public.

If you change your email address to a fake one but don't go through with the activation process (since you gave a fake email you can't) does your original email account stay in the database? In other words, do you have to click on the activation link in the email the rvf software sends you to actually implement the change?

Yes, that is an important second step.

You don't give a "fake" non-working email, you create a new real one solely for use here.

Just get a throwaway gmail account with a name that can't be linked back to your real life. Simple.

How likely is it that they already have the database?

RE: HEADS UP: Anonymous is now looking to hack the forum
It is very easy to defeat these types of breaches with a simple trick:

1. Register a new gmail account that does NOT have any personally identifiable information associated with it. Use a alias for the "first name and last name" fields.
2. Use a strong password!
3. Once the account is registered, going into the settings panel within gmail and go to the mail forwarding option. Point all incoming mail at your alias address to your real address, if you don't want to login to two separate accounts to check for notifications.
4. For the utmost in security, don't even do the forwarding trick, but keep both accounts separate.

I changed it to a burner mail but I don't receive that confirmation mail, is it already too late?

@Fast Eddie, I changed it but my old e-mail address is still shown because I can't confim the new one. So yes!

@Roosh Would your database saving my old e-mail even though I confirmed a new one?

Gmail and basically every other email provider has phone verification or at the very least they ask you to give them an existing email address. What's the point of creating a "burner" that is so clearly linked to your identity?

Edit: Ricardo's suggestion worked perfect. Thanks mate.

RE: HEADS UP: Anonymous is now looking to hack the forum
I changed my email to a burner email a while ago, and just deleted my private messages. It annoys me that the hysterical click-bait rags got the details of what Roosh stands for and the meetup so completely off, Snopes had to post a correction: http://www.snopes.com/roosh-v-43-countries/

Edit: To clarify, my burner is a gmail which could be linked to my real email address if Google were inclined to do so -- which they aren't. Google is not in the business of revealing people's personal information, not for something so trivial as not accepting the feminist narrative.

I'm proud to be a part of a forum that called out A Rape on Campus for being a lie long before anyone else questioned the story.

On the other hand, rvf blocks the true burner email providers. Angry

DON'T link it to an existing email addres or put a phone number in, it's not mandatory.

I had a burner email before, I just made another one just to be safe.

Done!

Even if your mail account is completely protected and not linked to any other service, I recommend trimming public info on other services too, as well as securing them with extra-strong passwords and two-step authentication. Can't ever be too safe.

Export all of your old PM's. Delete upon export. Change your email and password. Done.

Roosh, there's the gap of inactives and banned members with PM's stored on their accounts. Anything that can be fixed there?

When you delete PMs they go to 'trash' so also delete them from that folder.

This is the message I got on google. Does this mean my email is clean?

Nevermind, I used a burner email. Let them eat cake

Thanks to Ricardo735 for the heads up. The site he recommends works well.

If you have an iCloud account you can create an alias email, instructions here: https://support.apple.com/kb/ph2622?locale=en_US

Any email to your new alias will still come through your iCloud account and you can delete the alias at any time.

RE: HEADS UP: Anonymous is now looking to hack the forum
There are various ways to use a "fake" e-mail.

If you use Firefox, get an add-on called Bloody Vikings. On any input field, you can right click, select "Bloody Vikings" and get a list of 11 different e-mail providers that will give you a completely random e-mail address.

It will look something like this: [email protected]

Simultaneously, a window or tab will open to the e-mail provider website and your new inbox. The address will only be active for around 10-30 minutes as it's designed to just allow the confirmation e-mail to come through. Once you receive the confirmation e-mail, click the link in it to activate your account. This is the standard procedure on most websites and forums.

I recommend using this on all websites that you don't want to receive news from or tie your real name to. Unsurprisingly, this method provides you with a great spam-filter as well.

If there's any interest, I'll happily write a datasheet on online anonymity with various levels of reasonableness.

NOTE: Not all providers listed work equally well all the time. If you don't get your activation e-mail within a couple of minutes, try another provider. Mailforspam.com works well for me at the moment.

I changed my email to burner email and deleted my private messages. The email i used before is just a gmail that doesn't have any of my information.

While i recommend everyone do the same, i don't think anything serious will come out of this. Could be a ploy for this group to get more followers of the feminist persuasion.

Unfortunately for them, they lost a large group of men that may have been sympathetic to their previous shenanigans. Stupid mistake.

FIY you can use mail.com for quick and easy burner emails. Don't have to put any real information.
