Toronto Hotel residents evicted for "Refugees"
http://www.citynews.ca/2016/01/26/exclus...-refugees/

Some long-term residents at a Toronto hotel say they’re being evicted on short notice to make room for an influx of Syrian refugees.

One woman, who didn’t want to be identified, told CityNews she’s been living at the Toronto Plaza Hotel at 1677 Wilson Avenue with her three kids for the last six months.

But when she approached management to continue her weekly $300 payments she says she was told she had to leave — that day.

She says she had to beg for one extra night, but the next morning she was evicted.

“It’s really hard,” she said. “Many tears.”

“They gave us a whole bunch of reasons but the bottom line was they needed the space.”

“Everyone deserves a home and anyone can come to this country to get help, but you can’t take some children out and put them nowhere for others to live.”

She and her children now resort to sleeping on the floor at a friend’s house.

“For them to do this is not fair,” she added. “These people (refugees) are getting three meals a day? What about us?”

Garnet Fulton says he’s been living at the hotel for several months with his wife and two-year-old daughter.

He pays $1100 a month for a small room.

Fulton says he received a notice on Monday saying he had until Friday to leave.

The notice read: “We will no longer be facilitating any extended stay guests as hotel operations have evolved to meet growing demands.”

Fulton also believes he’s being pushed out to accommodate Syrian refugees.

“I asked if I could stay until the first (of the month) to look for a place and they said no.”

The Toronto Plaza Hotel says about 80 per cent of the hotel is being used to house refugees, but wouldn’t comment on allegations that long-term residents were being kicked out to make room for them.

When asked if residents were being displaced by refugees, Immigration Minister John McCallum said it’s the first he’s heard of it.

“I was entirely unaware of that,” he said. “I will look into it…but I had not heard that before.”

I'm no supporter of this refugee influx, but it's a hotel, they can turn you out for whatever reason they like. That's why most people don't live in them...

A lot of people DO live in these type of hotels. They are more like ghetto apartments than hotels.

Canadian citizens being kicked out on their ass for Syrians is disgusting.

Take care of your own, the rest can wait.

The hotel must have gotten a juicy contract to house X number of refugees. I sure as fuck hope they know these people will cook over fire in their rooms and all kinds of other displaced persons bullshit.

^ bingo rpg. Not enough corporate welfare to secure establishment votes and donations in the military industrial complex. Now, whole new means of graft are being created for the rapefugee retail complex.

Spot-on man. Bosnian refugees from the Independence war of 1991 left many of our hotels devastated, and these were fairly civilized and similar people. I shudder to think what people who are actually uncivilized and spoiled can do.

I know a Turkish lady who owns a large hostel in Berlin. She told me that last winter, she rented out some rooms to refugees. She was quick to tell me that she won't do it again because "...after they move out, you have to renovate the entire room." (her exact words)
She proceeded to tell me that she even had to throw away the curtains because somehow they got too filthy after just a 2 months stay of a refugee family.

You know the saying, "Don't wipe you dick on the curtains!"
I have seen the inside of transient peoples RV's. The only way to clean it would be with a flame thrower.

I am toying with the idea of hustling some air bnb for refugees here in vancouver. The government gives $85 a day for accommodation here, which is $2500 a month. I can get an air bnb for about $1500 a month which puts $1000 in my pocket.

Problem is government connections are already doing this. Do the math, $300,000,000 going to help 25,000 refugees, and they already are going to need a higher budget. Just another wealth grab from taxpayers in the disguise of Liberal Social Justice for the needy.

Good business idea. Also shows how fucked governments are. Definitely some shady kickbacks going on with all that money being thrown around. Government contracts probably going to the governor's son in law or other bullshit.

Crazy to spend $85 a day on housing for immigrants. How many citizens live on far less than that?

Welfare in BC for residents is about $20 a day for single person not on disability, pension or veteran. Currently about 180,000 on welfare in BC. That money must pay for housing (food can be had for free but you must wait in line) and other extras like Lotto tickets and smokes.

Canada likes to brag about how uncorrupt we are, yet the corruption is worse as at least in other corrupt countries I can pay to get something I need. Here only elite connected are able to access this type of above board corruption.
