I'm on the OCD side of the spectrum - I can't stand women who are out of shape or talk ugly or dykey, but as a result I usually avoid trying to pick up on women unless they're the essence of femininity.

However I think I take this too far, and sometimes I end up using it as an excuse to not approach a woman who's a 6 or so out of 10 even if she really isn't that bad comparatively speaking.

I've also noticed that the guys who are real casanovas aren't as concerned about "looks" in the long run - they have standards but they don't exclusively talk to the "really hot ones", the guys who do that are usually subpar players and it's really more about their ego.

So where do you draw the line, especially in this modern world where so many women are at least slightly overweight, or talk and cuss like truckers? I don't want to develop unrealistic ideals but I still want to have standards unlike the guys who'll jump at the chance to sleep with any drunk 3/10 woman at the club. Thoughts?

Other than that I would consider myself to be being too fussy.

There is no "line". Just talk to anyone but go for women you find attractive.

I've always been fairly selective in the quality of women I've tried to get into bed.

There's no doubt that it's cost me a lot of sex. But I've never regretted setting the bar high. Especially after successfully bedding a new beauty....

However, I routinely "practice" conversation and other interactions with women whom I would not be interested in getting naked with. I've found this keeps my interactions with all women, including the ones I find most attractive, natural and easy when the opportunities arises.

Everyone has their standards man. Go for whatever turns you on.

Me personally, I'm on team skinny body / pretty faces. If a girl is cute I'm all about it. My dick doesn't care if she is obsessed about her "rescue dog" or talks like a mob wife. Put your hands on her neck and plow away.

This is just sound like male rationalization. Psyching yourself out of an approach so you can avoid it and protect your ego.

Yeah but guys need to have a little self-respect too, a woman's got to do something to earn him other than just have a vagina.

If a guy actually knows his moves in bed and can make a woman cum hard, then why should a woman who's 100 lbs overweight and has no basic manners be rewarded for it?

I think if every guy slept with every woman that walks we'd see an even bigger decline in female beauty standards, since what's the point in a woman trying to make herself look attractive if all she needs to get laid is a vagina and a willingness to spread her legs?
