Both songs are beyond fault and I wouldn't usually be inclined to compare songs like this

Stairway to Heaven brings me back to high school days staying out all night in parks getting drunk and blasting Stairway off our crappy phones, 10+ years ago with people who are my closest friends to this day. We abused the hell out of Time as well, but it just doesn't have the same power for me.

Stairway to Heaven is the better standalone song, but Time is an integral part of a better album.

The choice of songs to compare seems arbitrary to me. What do they have in common other than that they are both by British mega-bands from the '70s?

But I like this idea for a thread, I'll play.

If I was taking the desert island test, I'd go with "Time." I love blues-based riff-rock, but I think spacey art rock is more listenable over time (no pun).

Fun fact: Jimmy Page almost certainly nicked the riff for "Stairway" from the song "Taurus" by the woefully underrated San Francisco band Spirit. Still a great song, though.
