I've been lurking this, and other forums for quite some time, and have traveled a lot for the purpose of meeting women but never really decided to do reports/write-ups on it until now. I work at an investment firm in Canada, and get a lot of time of to travel, but I usually only spend 2-3 weeks in a place before moving on. Also, my game isn't exceptionally high, but it's above medium; been in pickup for around 5/6 years. Anyways, moving on to the important stuff.

I know others have touched on it slightly, but I recently took a two-week vacation to Brasov, Romania. Here's the lowdown:

I stayed at an AirBnb location closed to downtown on a street called Nicolae Bălcescu (5-minute walk to the black church, all the pubs etc..). Now when I book a place, I want it to be private (i.e my airbnb host doesnt live there) and this place was great. The host ended up introducing me to her friends etc , but anyways.


My experience in a nutshell: Incredibly attractive, nice women, and a beautiful city with cheap food.

I found that being a foreigner here gives you pretty high status. And by foreigner, I mean westerner. German, Russian, and Scandinavian tourists are a dime a dozen here. Being from Canada, or the U.S is HUGE. I can't overstate that enough. I'd talk to the bartender at Deans in english, and girls would come up to me and join the conversation. Normally I'd attribute this to luck, but it happened every night I went out.

Night Game: In terms of night-game, as you have already heard, Sunday-Thursday is pretty dead. Friday, and Saturday are extremely busy nights as with anywhere. The people in clubs are incredibly nice. Within 30-minutes of entering Studio 80 in Brasov, I had met everybody in the club; which I think is crucial when doing solo-game in a different country. You need to socialize with everyone in the club. Become known, and you'll be rock solid. Recommendations: Deans, Studio 80, The Hockey Pub, Times, Fusion Beer house (and there's one club I forget. Texted a girl in Brasov to remember the name, but it was by far the best. They had trance music in the back, and smoking was only allowed outside).

Day Game: I've bad things about day-game in Brasov, but I have no clue why. There's a university a 10 minute walk from the main square (Piața Sfatului) with ample opportunity for approaches. The girls are nice as well, and generally like talking. If you walk down the street adjascent to the square (George Baritiu) you'll hit a street named Bulveradi Eroilor, which during the day is extremely busy with plenty of girls. I spent most of my time during the two-weeks in the day here.

The Girls: As I said above: Girls are beautiful, and I mean top-notch. I didn't see many whales in Brasov, and the whales I did see looked like tourists. Girls are receptive to foreigners, and are fairly nice. However, the typical comedy that would work in North America doesn't really work, and definitely don't question a girl about her job (oops).

Tips: If you're going to Brasov, use online-game to build your pipeline. While you'll have ample opportunity to pick up girls during the day, or night, I found that so many girls were receptive online to showing me around. Unfortunately, I started my online work too late, and could only meet up with 1 or 2 of them.

I don't like to over hype places, but I thoroughly enjoyed Brasov, and plan to go back. I'm aware that Cluj is a big spot for girls as well, and will have to visit there, but it was a positive experience in Brasov. As long as you aren't an arrogant foreigner, you'll be fine. I heard a story about an American from NY coming and yelling "I'm from New York" all night. Let your foreigner status naturally come out, and you'll be in good. One downside, is smoking, but that's Romanian culture, and several restaurants have non-smoking areas. The level of english is pretty low in the older-generation, but girls 18-25 based on what I found were quite good at english.


Downside

1) During the winter on weekends there are a plethora of european (mainly russian) tourists who come to ski on the mountain. They don't come out much at night, but on the nights they do prepare for a drunken mess. I call this a downside because it's more of a nuisance than it is a real problem. I'd prefer to not have to deal with drunk Russians, but the girls in Brasov didn't seem to acknowledge them anyways.

2) Logistics. Rent a place close to the square and you'll be fine, choose elsewhere and you may have problems. The place i rented from AirBnB was $30 CAD a night and a 5-minute walk from the square. You can find cheap rentals close by for cheap. When you go to rent a place, ask if the host will show you around. I can't overemphasize this enough. It's an instant boost if a foreign girls sees you with a local, or you get introduced to her friends, and its so so easy.

3) Getting to Brasov. Taxi scammers, and long-train rides sum up my transport in Romania. I've traveled enough that I don't get scammed, but I see people falling into the same traps. Also, the train from Gara de Nord to Brasov isn't the prettiest, and is very slow. Takes 2.5 hours some days, takes 4 hours the other. Book a ticket using the CFR website (but do it a couple days in advance, and you get a discount, I think 10%~). The buses are pretty well connected, however.

I used Badoo. Badoo Brasov has an extremely high quality level (ill post some pictures later, I screenshotted a bunch). For my bio, I used something along the lines of "I'm in town for a couple of months for business, looking to meet some locals" and it worked great.

I also used Tinder, but found maybe 25 people using it, so for some reason Tinder hasn't hit Brasov yet I guess.

Me and some other forum members hit up Brasov very briefly after hitting up some castles. I found it to be a pretty cool looking city. I opened a group of girls outside a coffee shop and they were pretty receptive and interested in why I was there when I told them I was from the US. Smoking is a nasty problem everywhere in Romania, that shits out of control.

It seemed like a nice laid back alternative to Bucharest.

Tell me about it. I was sorta laughing about the ashtrays in restaurants but at the same time concerned. They're still stuck in the 70s in that regard.

Go during the winter. From what I've heard the locals say, it's the best time of year.

Just thought I'd bump this thread - I'm planning a week in Brasov followed by a week in Bucharest this month. WeekendCasanova, I'm the guy who replied on your private blog report. I also noted that you went in winter which seemed to be the ideal - so it'll be interesting whether going in summer has much of an impact positive or negative particularly with the expected influx of tourists. I'll endeavour to report.

I assume all the main night spots will be in relative walking distance from the main square? Saw you used cabs which seemed hassle free anyway, well.. relatively speaking. Look out for the old guys with KM on the side? Which I gather means you don't have to pre-negotiate the fare beforehand? What about Uber? I saw this has taken off now in Bucharest - which can only be a good thing.

Anyway, if there's any other lads in either Brasov or Bucharest for that matter over June be cool to meet for a beer.

Yeah, I used cabs to and from the train station, as well as if I wanted to reach bars further away, however, I mostly walked since everything is so close.

As for the taxis, I didn't use Uber there so I can't comment, but in general yeah, stick to the old dudes as per local-advice. Most of the taxis have the 'Per/Km' listed on the side, with the normal price (in Brasov) being 1-2$/KM. You'll see a lot with '3.47/KM', so obviously avoid those vultures.

I'd highly recommend walking most places though, especially if you have a place near the centre. You can get everywhere via foot in relatively no time. An exception is if you're with a lady, but in that case you won't be ripped off on the taxi anyways.

Also, just a couple queries regarding your backstory - you mentioned you went with 'here for business' even though you were just passing through more or less - did you find you got pressed for this much? eg. do you feel they gun for the relationship/dating ideal, wanting to know you'll be there for some time or is ONS fairly common? I mean ideally, I'd like to go out with girls and be shown to some tourist spots - the castles etc. and I'm sure some would love that idea playing tourist guide too.

I'll probably go with 'visiting a few friends as I travel through Europe' which is actually partly true. I have some Romanian local friends here in Oz who say they can set me up with some locals both in Brasov and Bucharest.. but I don't even know if I'll follow up on that - I like the idea of going solo and creating it from scratch. Much like you mentioned going solo and talking to everyone in the club, which I think sounds fairly effortless being from out of town and all.

Just on Badoo as well - how did you go about that? Did you like 'like' the girls, wait for them to like you back, then initiate? Or you would just reach out cold? I've started my pipelining now, tried reaching out cold and I've had a few hits but it mostly fizzles before I reach a hook point - as in you can reach out for a small amount of $$ when you're overseas, but it's a punt because you don't know if they like your look etc. - the 'like' feature isn't possible unless you're in that same location it seems. However, girls in Bucharest on Tinder seem more receptive thus far.. so I think that pipelining should be easier.

Anyway, I know pipelining isn't *necessary* and I could just start my work more in earnest when I get there cause it doesn't seem like a big issue either way.

I barely got questioned at all. My first approach, I actually got blown out because I mentioned work; girls don't give two shits (at least in Brasov) what you do for work. When I was asked what I was doing in Brasov, I said work, and the girl completely switched subjects.

I liked them, a week or so in advance and waited. Most of my results did come from approaching during the day and night though. In Brasov Tinder was a baron wasteland, so I wouldn't bother with it there. Just go to any of the local bars/clubs and you'll do decent speaking english.

So I thought I'd just add some info after spending a week recently in Brasov.

I arrived Thursday night with the best of intentions to go out - but after 24 hours awake and a long flight I crashed a couple hours after getting there.
Also I took the minibus from Bucharest airport direct to Brasov centrum for 70 lei with a company called direct aeroport - I'd advise this to be the most efficient way of getting there without the hassle of taxi/train/taxi from Otopeni. But hey, road accidents are common as fuck here so it's an individual call I guess. But my experience was fine.

Friday I hiked up Mount Tampa which was great for a view and some pics. Unfortunately sprained my ankle really bad on the way down (couldn't weight bear at all) which left me bed bound all day Friday. My AirBnb host was an absolute champion - and brought me beer, pizza and medical supplies to my apartment to aid my recovery. I can only be grateful that it wasn't worse.

Next day I could at least somewhat walk and Saturday night we hit Il Caminetto - seemed somewhat exclusive and we would've been denied entry but my host knew the owner and they let us through. Started sharing drinks and shots and I opened a few and the reception seemed fine. Towards the end of the night opened a Romanian guy at the back of the club and after mentioning I was from Oz he said very matter of factly 'yeah, you could have your pick of any of these girls here' - while waving at a bunch of 8s and 9s about six foot. I'm like okay, interesting. I connected with one of them and I could tell she was keen and things were getting physical. But I went for a piss and to look for my host but he'd already left - I came back to where we danced and she was gone. Bummer.

Next night I met with a bird from Tinder - and actually Tinder was buzzing quite well and I had several matches over the week. Met her literally after 10 or so messages, and she was already out and invited me to join her at a bar on Republicii. 5 lei for a 500ml pint - joy prices for beer. Anyway, I got there and she was with 2 other friends. Very average looking but one of the friends was a decent 6 with a rack to boot. Drank with them for hours getting the low down on Romania and met one of her guy friends - absolute crack up and super friendly dude.

Anyway, they all left and I was there with the last girl and I knew she was keen and the flag was all but assured. Left for my apartment for wine and olives. I should say that she was 32, and probably felt a little washed up - I don't think this would be the norm and I've heard ONS culture is still rare. But that's luck I guess.

Met another on Tinder a few days later - maybe almost 6 foot tall? The chicks here can be super tall. She was a decent 7 - but this time super conservative girl. And when she ordered a juice I knew ain't nothing happening tonight and I couldn't tee up a second date.

I didn't do much day gaming, and spent the majority of time with my host showing me just how he lives day to day and giving me great insight into Romanian life - going to shopping centres, hanging out at a hotel pool out of the city. I remember at Carrefour getting a massive feed for 12 lei at the food court and feeling absolutely stuffed. Also Cherries for 7 lei a kilo - would be equivalent of 75 lei in Oz.

All in all, and in echoing WC - beautiful women, cheap food and a friendly culture very receptive to foreigners. I would come back but at a different time of year - it's been fucking hot and the heat can get wearing at times. I left feeling like I needed a week longer. And now that I'm in Bucharest, I feel the same way - you need momentum here and it takes time to build but I imagine the rewards are worth it.
