There seems to be a trend in 2016 of famous Britons dying at 69 from cancer...

For my generation, Rickman was probably best known for doing a pretty menacing Severus Snape. RIP.

Eh, saw both and I think the Harry Potter role was somewhat better executed. Not that Hans Gruber was bad but Snape was a somewhat better fit for Rickman's appearance and mannerisms.

For those that think looks > game, I give you big-nosed / wonky-teeth Alan Rickman. For a character actor, every woman I've ever known has absolutely loved him. I suspect they fantasised about the stereotypical evil character he'd always play in various movies knowing that character would to always be able to curtly cut off any bullshit they could throw his way, and make them feel very small and stupid in the process (ala Mr Darcy), which is why there's so much sexualised fan fiction of him: he's the bad boy uber-father figure for girls with Daddy Issues.

Combined with him imprinting the Byronic Anti-Hero of Snape onto an entire generation of Tumblrinas, Sardonic / Sarcastic game will have a long shelf life with self-loathing Millennial Girls.

They concluded the woman was of the Die Hard era of Alan Rickman, and the student was of the Severus Snape era.

I used to always confuse Alan Rickman with Gary Oldman. I still do from time to time. The interesting thing is they could nearly be interchangeable actors in their roles too.

Think about if Rickman was in the Professional or Oldman was in Harry Potter or Die Hard. They could stand in for each other easily but give a different but equally good twist to the same role.

edit: Also, Emma Watson is a privileged white feminist cunt.

That's why it's useful to flip it around and use it to refer to their brand of feminism. It takes away their greatest weapon which is that victim label they keep attaching themselves to. It's also something that pisses them off the most. When certain words like "privilege" are weaponized it's perfectly fair to also use it on the people who created it.

Although I watched Die Hard before I even read Harry Potter I shall forever remember Rickman for Snape since Harry Potter shaped my childhood as it did for so many other kids at that time.

I don't care much for Bowie or his music, but Rickman's death was something that rattled me. I really enjoyed Hans in Die Hard, not to mention his role in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
