RE: David Bowie dies at 69 after 18 month battle with cancer
Queer as a 3 dollar bill, but goddamn, he created a lot of music, and a lot of collaborations. IMO, the best Iggy Pop was done with Bowie, he gave Stevie Ray Vaughn international exposure that launched his career, collaborated with Pat Metheney on Falcon & the Snowman, wrote the song that gave Mott the Hoople his big hit... like his music or not, you can't deny he was extremely influential.
For my taste, his best stuff was from the 70's, and the guy made a shitload of questionable life choices, but I'll raise my glass and toast a great career and a great artist.

DAVID BOWIE: A NON-APPRECIATION
His death is the capstone on the pyramid of necrotic Anglo-American mass culture
Quote:The final albums and music videos by Bowie evoked a dark and deathly Satanic vision of life during the first decade and a half of the 21st century.

Now all my Facebook pals that were Motorhead fans are also huge Bowie fans. Who would've thought? I've known most these people since nursery school and can't recall them liking either.

RE: David Bowie dies at 69 after 18 month battle with cancer
If we ignore for a moment that one is supposed to honor the dead...
and if we ignore for a moment that he was an interesting artist, and even better careerist...
what remains is the fact that David Bowie was just another (if old) agent of the globalist agenda; gender-bending envelope-pushing fashionably bisexual ex-alcoholic ex-junkie. With his unstable and always changing personas he was the ultimate public embodiment of the postmodern ideal: atomizing self-destructing individual who produces and consumes his identities shamelessly and self-promotionally, while privileging new and different and "crazy" over the traditional and solid and "normal".
Now, Bowie was massively influential, whether in music or style, or both, so he influenced countless British (and American) bands of the late 1970s and entire 1980s, and later. I can't think of one single popular 1980s British pop band that it wasn't fully or partially gay; probably none of them were gay because of Bowie alone, but all of them were emboldened by Bowie's antics. And all of them found a public platform, audiences, recording contracts, fame and success thanks to the spaces that Bowie carved out for them.
So it is thanks to the massive efforts of Bowie-types that we today live in the western world where positive masculinity is outlawed, and freaks like Caithlyn Jenner are gold certified as society's heroes. If you trace the culture there's a clear path from one to the other.
I do realize that sometimes we don't think of these connections, and we tend to lionize famous people by default because of our previous emotional connections with their prior works - but nothing exists in vacuum isn't just an empty slogan, it's everything. So we can't be miserable about the state of the western world today, and at the same time be pouring one for our hommie Ziggie Stardust. Because we would sound like a bunch of clueless, bleating goats. Because those two things are naturally and strictly odd and incompatible in a similar way it would be odd for a random African-American dude to wax poetic about some ex-Grand Wizard of the KKK.
Now, remember what are the SJWs doing nowadays? They are going around and shaming and banning and retro-convicting historical figures (Columbus, Wilson, etc.) Isn't it time we do the same with our heroes? Let's start with every supposedly hetero pop-rock star that wore a female skirt or lipstick in public, or otherwise "flirted with his own female side", and work our way back and across the popular culture.

Brilliant post. Thanks to Bowie we're having a line of assorted sexual weirdos like Marilyn Manson and Gary Glitter.
The David Bowie pop phenomenon on the other hand owes much to the privileged Bloomsbury social set whose collective sensibility led to the “unique fusion of masculine and feminine elements.” For them, “Notions about androgyny were closely intertwined with ideas about homosexuality.”

RE: David Bowie dies at 69 after 18 month battle with cancer
The man came of age in the 70s; the age of hedonism. He fucked everyone; Susan Sarandon, Tina Turner, Nina Simone, Bebe Nuell, Mick Jagger (rumoured, never confirmed), countless men, etc...He is one person who experimented for his own reasons and for his own sake and not for social validation and approval.
Notice though that all his long term relationships were with women including this last one with Iman.
The man, in addition to being musically experimental, was also very financially savvy so his legacy is set. This is a man who lived and died on his own terms and that is rare enough as it is.
P.S. Just found out today he gave Luther Vandross his start.

RE: David Bowie dies at 69 after 18 month battle with cancer
I liked Bowie as an artist, particularly the restless, searching mind, which mean his intellectual and spiritual growth over the years eventually lead him down the red pill path of family, monogamy, child-rearing and spiritual longing.
RE: Bowie is 'bisexual'. By the 90's, he claimed it was all a pose, and he wanted the dangerous aura it would give him in the climate of the time, but his 'heart was never in it'. He simply loved women too much. By the late 90's, he was saying it turned out monogamy was what he really wanted all along, and his final marriage lasted 23 years until his death.

Point taken. On the other hand, he turned me on to Nietzsche, sung songs of the Homo Superior, took stylistic and lighting cues from Leni Riefenstahl, and as for being 'Globalist', I'm old enough to remember him going full /pol/ during his Berlin period in the late-1970's and publicly-saying this in Playboy:
Quote:“Britain is ready for a fascist leader… I think Britain could benefit from a fascist leader. After all, fascism is really nationalism… I believe very strongly in fascism, people have always responded with greater efficiency under a regimental leadership…Adolf Hitler was one of the first rock stars…You’ve got to have an extreme right front come up and sweep everything off its feet and tidy everything up.”
I bet no-one's mentioned that in any of fawning eulogies you'll see today.
Also, his 2000-2003 period ('Heathen' and 'Reality') was very focused on the concept of the spiritual decay of modern life, and what society was going to result with the absence of Catholicism. Note this statement from 2002:
Quote:“Heathenism is a state of mind. You can take it that I’m referring to one who does not see his world. He has no mental light. He destroys almost unwittingly. He cannot feel any God’s presence in his life. He is the 21st century man.”
He saw exactly what was coming.
Quote:Heathen kind of felt right, in as much as it was about the unilluminated mind. It was an idea, a feeling, a sense of what 21st Century man might become if he’s not already: someone who’s lowered his standards spiritually, intellectually, morally whatever…someone who’s not even bothered searching for a spiritual life anymore but who’s completely existing on a materialistic plain. But just using the word “heathen” is kind of less preachy than explaining all that. ‘Cos if you wrote all that on the front of an album cover, nobody would bother buying it, would they?
I still think he was one of the few remaining Artists in music looking to transmit ideas, as opposed to Brand Managers looking for opportunities for Emotional Content Synergy. Music just got a lot duller and more like a car commercial with his passing.

Not to ruin the party, but considering how much people here hate LGBT etc...Bowie was one of the first to advocate 'sexual fluidity' etc. Amazing songwriter, visionary artist but he was a full on 'activist' back in the 70s. Personally, I'm not bothered, but it's just funny to see guys on this forum, saying they admired a guy who was openly bisexual, alleged to have been fucking Mick Jagger for years etc, when if it was anyone modern, they'd be saying it was signs of a cultural problem or whatever. I think it's a sign perhaps, that we need to start separating artistic brilliance from sexual orientation, perhaps? I'm just throwing out the question. Kind of like supporting Milo, but not supporting gays, maybe? Or sticking up for Jack Donovan, despite him being, a gay.
If you've never met a forum member - I'll assume you're lying

Alleged by no-one but his ex-wife, Angela Bowie, when her post-divorce discretion clause ran out and she had her autobiography to flog.
Incidentally, their son Joe has wanted nothing to do with her since he was 14.
She was in the news last year saying Bowie could never be faithful to his wife Iman - 'a leopard never changes his spots' - trying to sow the seeds of discord, like the bitter alpha widow she is.

But you cannot deny if he was around today, he'd be part of the most leftist gender-politics gang around in music.
No, because that's now the status quo, and he was always obsessed with the mystical idea of the outsider and fringe culture. As such, he was always drawn to unpopular ideas and social outcasts, then would translate that for the mass audience. When, from '83 to '88, he realises the mass audience can be reached by not challenging them and telling them exactly what they want to hear, he feels like he dies artistically, then sets about re-marginalising himself with the Tin Machine, which prefigures grunge - with the mistake being it built from late 60's rock rather than early 70's rock.
He was deliberately-chasing being an outsider again. It's all through his career. So, by the end of the 70's, when everyone is Right On and it's all about reggae and two-tone, he starts talking about Fascism; in the 90's when they're trying to bring back Glam and Androgyny, he's laughing at its irrelevance and saying sexual experimentation has little to offer a person; when everyone has discarded religion by the Millennium, he starts talking up spirituality and saying people have a need for it and its absence will cause intellectual, social and spiritual stagnation.
If he was coming up now, and he truly was gay, I doubt his rhetoric would sound much different to Jack Donovan or Milo.

RE: David Bowie dies at 69 after 18 month battle with cancer
The man was mentally unstable or possessed by strong demons.
He went through a bit of a Nazi phase too. In a drug-induced state leading up to the release of “Station to Station,” Bowie was criticized for saying in an interview that Adolf Hitler was “ one of the first rock stars.” In the same month, he said that Britain could “ benefit from a fascist leader.”
Bowie denied those reports and later attributed his behavior to the copious amounts of drugs he was taking at the time.
David Bowie, the first rock star to glamorize the fudge packing industry, dead at 69. Oddly appropriate age. The faggots in Berlin mourn him.
