It's basically a less good version of couchsurfing with less members (by a couple of million or so) and features less cities.

IIRC, Facebook is actually older than Myspace. They just decided to open it up for people outside of the university sphere. Then Myspace turned into a digital ghetto and everyone ran to FB.

I browsed around the Tripping site a bit. One good thing I see is that the users seem to be a bit older. 25-35 on average. Whereas CS seems to be mostly people under 25 who would normally be hosteling.

I will say this, myspace was and prob still is a GREAT place to find diff music groups!

Myspace just got bought by a digital ad company for a fraction of what News Corp. paid for it several years ago. And the strangest part is that they've brought in Justin Timberlake to be the site's new creative director. And yes, it sounds like they're really going to be focusing on its music-related benefits for the revamp. Will be interesting to see how long they can keep it alive.

I think it they really concentrated on making it a great place for bands / artits to showcase their music then it would run side by side with Facebook.

Myspace predates Facebook by a few years. G is right, that WAS the criticism of Facebook when it started, "It's just another Myspace, why would people use it?"

In the UK before FB became the norm we all used 'Bebo', it was customizable, you could change the skin, it had lots of interactive features, basically everything that FB is not. I don't even know if Bebo still exists.

Bumping this thread since Tripping.com appears to have changed since 2011. From Wikipedia:

Looks like a great way to search for short-term apartments outside of AirBnB:

Holy shit, that looks awesome. Suppose it was going to happen eventually, since there are airplane ticket aggregators as well as hotel ones. I am wondering why some of the icons are a "house" icon and why others are just a dot, though.
