On-off contraception switch for sperm.
Quote:German carpenter invents on-off contraception switch for sperm

Joiner from Berlin has invented a switch which can turn off the flow of sperm from a man’s testicles, making him temporarily infertile

A German carpenter has invented a valve which he claims will revolutionise contraception, by allowing a man to turn the flow of sperm from his testicles on and off at the flick of a switch.
Clemens Bimek told Spiegel magazine the idea first came to him some 20 years ago, when he was watching a television documentary about contraception, and wondered whether it would be possible to control the flow of sperm with a simple valve.

Is this the new game changer?

I think I'd rather wait for Vasalgel to get through human trials than have an inch-long clicky switch mounted on my nut sack.

Who is the target market who needs to switch their sperm on and off on demand? Married guys trying to knock up the wife but not the mistress?

What happens when you forget which way is 'off'? I think it will also need an LED indicator mounted on your cock:
red for danger, green for go raw.

No thanks. It seems like a lot of messing around. You need two of them, they don't mention that in the video that you'd need to turn it on and off for each. Plus to disengage, you need to push a safety release on the back. Those German engineers should know that things get more complicated with more components.

Vasagel seems alot better, one shot and you're done. Reverse it? Get another shot. Plus they use the K.I.S.S. method.

I don't care how impressive German craftsmanship is, that's not a description that inspires confidence.

Vasalgel is minimally invasive. I.e. surgeons need only make tiny incisions to pull the vas through. In comparison, this device requires an incision large enough to pass a 7x11mm object, and that's assuming it will be practical to attach it outside the scrotum.

The only advantage I can think of is that it would eliminate the need for an additional two surgeries for those who have plans to sire children in the future (one to remove the Vasalgel, another to apply it again).

I can't imagine that being practical because the switch needs to be closed at least a few weeks prior to any raw-dogging, as with Vasalgel and regular vasectomies. The following FAQ mentions that it takes 30 ejaculations or three months to clear the seminal ducts of any remaining sperm: https://www.bimek.com/faq-function/?lang=en

I also noticed while reading that FAQ that, when the switch is 'closed', the unused sperm are released into the scrotum, so it will come with the same risk of granulomas that regular vasectomies do: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sperm_granuloma

Vasalgel solves that problem by allowing fluids (but not sperm) through the vas, so pressure is still relieved but nothing is released into the scrotum.
The original RISUG, which Vasalgel was based on, also allowed sperm cells to pass through but disabled them by way of an electrical charge.

Its applied through an injection, no surgery necessary. You walk out of the clinic that same day for both procedures.

Plus, its (or will be) dirt cheap and you wouldnt have to remember if "up" was on or off, or worry about the switch flicking when you scratch your balls.

Take attention away from attention whores and all that is left is whores.

Brilliant!
Because no woman would ever think of reaching there, right.
What could possibly go wrong?
