When Dissent Becomes A Revolutionary Act
This happened...

http://mobile.philly.com/beta?wss=/phill...=364295981

A conservative student wrote an article critical of Black Lives Matter, in a predominantly liberal and black school. He then proceeded to get death threats, and the administration pulled his article. At the same time, the administration kept up an article praising Black Lives Matter.

The narrative is that blacks, gays, women, minorities, and anyone who isn't a straight white male gets harassed on a daily basis. The reality is conservatives are the ones experiencing actual harassment - like Roosh in Montreal.

RE: Apparently It's okay to harass and threaten conservatives in high school
Quote:Senior Cameron Gaillard said the issue wasn’t Moroz’s perspective.

“He can have a different viewpoint,” said Gaillard, 17. “But he didn’t have to be crass and disrespectful in the way he expressed it. That was unacceptable.”

Gaillard said he was one of the students disciplined — suspended for a day — for an online comment that Moroz should be dealt with.

“I wanted him to be reprimanded,” Gaillard said. “I don’t understand how one person can offend a mass majority of people and have people call him a hero for his biased opinion.

Ana Deluca-Mayne, another Central senior, said she wished the story had not been published — not because of its view but because of its “extremely inflammatory language” and its seeming dismissal of the Black Lives Matter movement. She said she was disappointed it wasn’t used to spur a larger conversation.

“A lot of the people who were upset with the article were upset that it was taken down,” Deluca-Mayne said. “We want to have discussions about race, about differing opinions about movements like Black Lives Matter.”

She and others said any threat to Moroz was unacceptable.

Feelings, is all about feeling. No logic, no serious discussion, but "i am offended by his discourse, so ban him!". And these kids are the future of the USA.

In before westindianarchie comes in here to accuse you of race trolling in a really obfuscated manor

or djembadjemba tries to buzzword "reactionary" as a synonym for "Nazi" into existence.

No they don't. They never do. Why keep up this charade when time after time when confronted with controlled and reasoned dissent the reaction is hostile and violent? The discussion they want is monologue of one central, authoritative voice vilifying one specific sect of the population while promoting victimization and entitlement for all others.

The Yalta Conference had more restrained and contemplative discussion than ones held in places of HIGHER LEARNING that discuss whether or not the ethnic food served in the cafe is cultural appropriation. How's that for these people's resolve for civility?

That seventeen year old wrote a great article. I had to go to facebook and read a pic of it, that is how fast it got pulled down.

Motte and Bailey arguments against the kid.

Its only when challenged on their hypocritical intolerance that they backpedalled and said they only had an issue with 'how it was said' and not that he had a differing opinion.

This is an example of the control mechanisms that modern society and modern authority puts on you. They don't say you are forbidden to have a dissenting view, they instead warn you and try to shame you about how that view will be received -- e.g. "You have freedom of speech, but you should know that homophobia is looked down upon."

It gives the impression of having a right to say whatever you want, but they implicitly suggest a consequence if you make a non-approved point or in a non-approved way. And on top of that it's a psyop on you because it gives the impression the state is telling you for your own good rather than for the state or the institution's own good. I didn't realise how powerful or how endemic this way of controlling speech was until I looked around. You'll find it on almost every corner.

In the present day, the Left has found a way to condense down the phrase "You are not allowed to say that". They use the word "disrespectful."

The animals come out in force when the party line is challenged. It's sad, but expected.

Quote:But he didn’t have to be crass and disrespectful in the way he expressed it.

Exactly how much respect are we supposed to have for thugs? And how much respect are they showing people like Donald Trump when fags like Jon Stewart are calling him "fuckface" on national TV? I'm betting they giggled their way through tweets and facebook posts and blogs - laughing at Jon's "comedy".

It's sad to see the type of people who have become role models for these morons.

Thank you for this wonderful bit of articulation. Its logic like this which continues to shatter the hold that progressive thought has over the west.

My favorite #BLM moment was when the angry shaneequas ran up on stage and forced old man KFC Bernie Sanders to submit.

There wasn't a more cowardly display than that and it showcased what happens when even connected NYC liberals meet "minority" college activists.

Who fucks who with the plastic dildo and relative pecking order is maintained.

RE: When Dissent Becomes A Revolutionary Act
Here's the infamous article in full:

"A Case of Overreaction" by Michael Moroz, managing editor

Quote:If anyone wants to see a case study of the puerile politically correct campus culture that pervades modern colleges, they need only look at the incredible overreaction at the University of Missouri.

Over a period of months, a few terrible occurrences were recorded at Mizzou — a black student was the recipient of racial slurs from unidentified individuals, and a swastika was written in feces. These events spurred massive protests calling for president Tim Wolfe’s resignation. (In case readers are missing a causative link, it doesn’t exist unless Tim Wolfe draws fecal swastikas in his spare time.)

We can trace these protests ultimately to the events in Ferguson, where Darren Wilson, a white cop, shot Michael Brown. There are, of course, a few problems with this underlying cause. First of all, Saint Michael of the Gentle Giantedness (all credit to Ben Shapiro for that particular epithet) was a delinquent who robbed a convenience store, manhandling the store owner in the process. Wilson then approached him on these grounds, to which Brown responded by attempting to grab the officer’s gun and fight him.

In case there is still doubt that Brown was, at worst, justifiably killed, and at best, a thug, the grand jury cleared Wilson of any wrongdoing. Further, President Obama’s Department of Justice could not find any civil rights violations in the case, and it definitively proved that the common “Hands up, don’t shoot!” moniker had no basis in fact.

More broadly, the students issue several suspect claims about American society, and such claims deserve their own columns to be refuted. The claim that police officers generally kill black people indiscriminately, for example, is nonsense. If one adjusts for the significantly higher murder rates of black people, there’s actually a slightly higher cop homicide rate for white people. In St. Louis, whose police department has been pushed to take over Ferguson’s, studies have shown that black and white officers shoot suspects at the same rate, suggesting no evident racial disparity.

There’s one place where one can certainly and inarguably find discrimination, though — the nonsensical demands of the student groups at Mizzou and elsewhere. The students formally demanded racial diversity classes (this is college, folks) and for the percentage of black staff and faculty to be increased to 10% (higher than the black student population at Mizzou, by the way). I was under the impression that colleges should hire professors based on qualifications alone, not skin color.

Oberlin College’s black student group brilliantly fit into their demands divestment from Israel — insofar as these activists write absurdities, they might as well include vaguely anti-semitic ones, too.

When supporting facts don’t exist, the activists invent them, of course. Jonathan Butler, a student at Mizzou, went on a hunger strike after blatantly lying about being hit by Tim Wolfe’s car; he stepped in front of the car, and it’s on video for anyone to watch. The appropriate response to this nonsense should’ve been — starve. These activists have not heeded the Michael Brown ruling, nor will they accept any of the aforementioned claims about the justice system as even debatable. The campus left doesn’t engage in debate; it engages in hunger strikes and sit-ins instead.

Not a bad article. Leftist activists indeed don't engage in debate, they engage in violence and intimidation to make normal people submit and give them power and resources. They demand the fruits without the labor. It is resentment and entitlement that results from being told they are victimized.

How could these zealots have better demonstrated that fact than by reacting to a letter about the emotional overreaction of the student agitators with death threats? Or remember similar activists disrupting people studying in a library and calling them 'racist white cunts' without repercussion.

Tone is a matter of taste. Calling that big, fat and now dead criminal Saint Michael of the Gentle Giantedness is pretty funny. It is not disrespectful to anyone but those that side with the criminal. Are white people getting enraged when you insult a white criminal? Not a chance.

What is disrespectful is silencing debate, on a university no less. Everybody fought to get minorities in the institutions and the result is that these ingrates want to destroy what they never could have built themselves.

They don't want a debate. They want submission.

Students are not selected at random, but based on a measure of cognitive ability. So let's analyse exactly which groups are over and underrepresented based on their test scores. Hint: it's not the white students.

The article is only disrespectful if you think anyone who disagrees with you is disrespectful.
